Chapter 101 : They Are All Liars

Chapter 101 : They Are All Liars
Chapter 101: They Are All Liars

Sophie

I woke up alone in the large bed, my body thrumming with them pain of last night. I sat up, feeling empty. They are liars, I sighed, running my hand through my messy hair and squeezing my eyes shut. I loved them and they lied to me. I didn't know what I was thinking last night, I didn't know what I was going to do today. Should I confront them? And ask them any did they have to break my trust once again and demanded distance?

I don't even have a place to go. Sarah, I didn't know where she was and my apartment had blown up along with my belongings. Everything I owned now belonged to them, from the clothes on my body to the brushes I painted with. They had possessed every part of me. I let out a trembling breath, feeling my eyes burn. I didn't have anything, I only had them and they have betrayed me. Everything we had was built on a lie, I would have never let myself ease around them if I knew who they were. I felt trapped, like something heavy was suddenly placed on my heart as tears slid out of my eyes till my lips shook with the effort of keeping the sobs in.

I trusted them so much, I trusted them with everything and they lied to me, again and again and now I was alone with no one but them for me to hold. What did I have? A little money in my account and my glasses, that was it. I had let myself depend on them, then my mother's words flooded into my head.

‘They are powerful men, Sophie. They don't come with peace.’  And she was right, I was just a fool.

I locked myself in my studio, demanding space which they reluctantly gave me. I grabbed a blade and destroyed the three large canvasses, slashed the fabric but still I couldn't tell which one was whose. I had painted them, for the first time I had put so much effort into a painting. The first one was Angelo, just him sitting behind his desk and smiling at me. The second was of Adriano, standing behind the kitchen counter with a smile on his face and the third was of Luciano. He was leaning against the side of a bookshelf, a small grin on his face. I had made these with so much love, ditching my sleep and they shattered it. They were liars and they could be lying about a million things.

I stared at the ruined canvases, my hands were shaking for some reason and the tears wouldn't stop. I sat on the floor, clutching my head into my hands and sobbing quietly. There was a knock at the door, they had been knocking since morning, asking me to come out but I just couldn't. I knew I would crumble if I looked at them.

“Sophie?” I heard the voice and I frowned. Miss Rivera? What is she doing here?

“Miss Rivera, I want to be alone for a while.” I said strongly but my voice was hoarse, making it clear that I was crying.

“What is wrong, sweetheart?”

“Everything,” I muttered.

“Did they do something?”

“I don't want to talk about them.” I replied.

“Okay,” she said.

“Just come out, they are in their office and I will make sure they don't come out. You have to eat something.” I sighed. I was actually hungry. I sniffed, wiping my tears away.

“You promise they won't come out?”

“Yes, just come out.”

I stood up, wiping my tears away again and looked at myself more. I looked like a mess, I ran my hands through my hair and tamed it a little before unlocking the door. She smiled at me, pulling me in for a hug.

“Are you alright?” I hugged her back tightly, letting some more tears slip out.

“Come on, let's eat.” I nodded and we walked to the kitchen, Paulo was there already. He smiled at me when he looked at me.

Callan was there as well, with an ice cream tub in his hand. His spoon froze midway to his mouth when he looked at me.

“It is not what it looks like, Sophy.”

“Miss Rivera,” I said.

“Put that tub down, Callan and get your damn ice cream.” She nodded sternly, wrapping an apron around her. Callan sighed and put the ice cream tub down.

I sat on the stool before Callan, setting my elbow on the counter. After asking me what I wanted to eat, she cooked quietly and even Callan didn't say anything. We ate in silence, no one was addressing the giant elephant in the room. Why had I locked myself up in the studio? Why wasn't I talking to the Rizzos? I tell could they wanted to ask but weren't asking.

The meal went by quickly and I walked back to the studio but they were there, leaning beside the door and waiting for me. They looked exhausted and worried, dressed in casual clothes which meant they didn't go to the office today.

“Princess.” Angelo stepped forward, I shook my head and pulled open the door, walking inside and slamming it behind me. I knew they could break the door down if they wanted to. I stayed back down on the floor and looked up at the three ruined canvases, wondering if that was how my heart looked right now.

___________
Angelo POV.

I hummed opening the door.

“Fucking finally.” Robert Taylor smiled and it took everything in me to not bash the motherfucker’s head on the wall. Adriano and Luciano entered behind me, the latte slammed the door shut and I grabbed a chair and put it in front of the man before sitting down. He was big, as big as I am and less as muscled. He was covered with tattoos from head to toe, black hair down and brown eyes holding nothing as they looked at me. He looked like Sophie, yet they couldn't be more different.

“Lucas works fast.” He said and I didn't say anything for a while.

“Luciano.” He said. He had already worn his beloved brass knuckles. His fist collided with Robert’s face, making blood blow out of the man’s mouth.

“Yes, he does.” I agreed.

“Why did you come after Sophie, your daughter?” I asked.

“You already know why?” His voice wasn't as cocky as it should be.

The tip of Adriano’s knife disappeared into his tied arm. He dragged the knife slowly, smirking as Robert screamed. Blood gushing out of the wound.

“Why do you come after Sophie?” I asked again and he shrugged.

“I just wanted to see my daughter.” I hummed, standing up.

“I will be in my office.” I said, Adriano smirked. His bloodied knife in his hand.

“Alright”

Knowing that screams were soon enough going to flood out of the basement, I made sure to carefully close the door. The last thing Sophie needed was to hear the scream of her father.
