Chapter 26. A night with the enemy

"Who is Evelyn? You mentioned her in your sleep, and from the look of things, it looks like you are close to each other," Alpha Mykel said with curiosity. He saw the expression on her face as she mentioned that name in her dream; it was one that held deep grief, and he was eager to know who Evelyn was and her connection with her. But here is Kitara before him, looking dumbfounded as if she has been struck with dumbness; she just kept glaring at him.

"Hello, is there anything wrong?" He asked her, and Kitara got out of her trance and said, "No, not at all. I mentioned her name." Kitara asked, trying to buy time for an idea to pop up in her. This is a very curious situation she has found herself in; if Alpha Mykel should guess or find out that her mother is Evelyn, her mission is automatically terminated. "Yes, you did," Alpha Mykel replied.

"Em, she is the... daughter of my former boss; we were so close, but she died years ago," Kitara stammered. "Sorry about that; you must be really close for you to remember her and still have nightmares about her," Alpha Mykel said.

"Yeah, we were," Kitara replied with a sad tone, trying to convince Alpha Mykel to believe her lies, which he did. He moved close to her and told her by her neck. He sat beside her, placed her head on his lap, and stroked her back like a beloved puppy.

Alpha Mykel's concern for Kitara grew as he saw the sadness in her eyes. He couldn't help but feel sympathy for her as he remembered his own losses. He understood how painful it was to lose someone close and could only imagine how difficult it must have been for Kitara to have lost someone she was so close to.

As he stroked her back, he tried to comfort her with his words: "It's okay to miss her, Kitara." Losing someone we love is never easy, but we have to keep moving forward. "Remember the good times you shared with her and cherish those memories."

Kitara listened intently to his words, feeling a sense of comfort in his touch and his voice. She closed her eyes, letting out a deep breath as she tried to push away the thoughts of her mother that threatened to overwhelm her. She didn't want to think about her mission anymore, at least not for the moment. She just wanted to stay there, in Alpha Mykel's arms, feeling safe and cared for.

As they sat there, Kitara couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to have someone like Alpha Mykel in her life. Someone who would hold her close, comfort her when she needed it, and protect her from harm. She couldn't help but feel drawn to him, not just because of his kindness but also because of the way he made her feel.

Alpha Mykel continued to stroke her back, enjoying the feel of her soft skin against his hands. He couldn't help but feel a sense of protectiveness toward her. He knew that he needed to keep her safe, especially with the dangers that lurked around them.

As Kitara slowly drifted off to sleep, Alpha Mykel gently lifted her head and laid her down on the bed. He watched her for a few moments, admiring her beauty and the peaceful look on her face. He then walked out of the room, closing the door softly behind him.

As he walked down the corridor, he couldn't help but wonder what was going on in Kitara's mind. He knew that she was hiding something from him, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was. He decided that he would keep an eye on her, just to be sure.

Meanwhile, Kitara tossed and turned in her sleep, her dreams filled with images of her mother and the mission that she had been sent on. She couldn't help but wonder if she was doing the right thing and if the price of revenge was worth it. She knew that she had to be careful, especially around Alpha Mykel. She couldn't afford to let her guard down, not even for a moment.

As she drifted off into a restless sleep, Kitara couldn't help but wonder what the future held for her. Would she ever find the answers she was looking for? Would she be able to complete her mission and avenge her mother's death? Or would she end up getting caught in a web of lies and deceit?

The next day she woke up, saw herself being placed on the bed, and felt a sense of unease. She knew that she was getting too comfortable around him and that she needed to be careful. But at the same time, she couldn't deny the fact that she was starting to take him out of the picture as a suspect and actually become his friend. She quickly dressed up in her unwashed uniform and headed out of the room towards the kitchen. As she went around a corner, a hand grabbed her from behind. Kitara froze as a hand grabbed her from behind. She could feel the warmth of someone's breath on the back of her neck, and her heart raced with fear. She turned around quickly, ready to defend herself, only to find Alpha Mykel standing behind her with a mischievous grin on his face.

"Gotcha," he said playfully. Kitara let out a sigh of relief and pushed him away. "Don't do that," she scolded him.

"Sorry, I couldn't resist," he replied with a chuckle. "You're too easy to scare."

Kitara rolled her eyes and tried to shake off the unease she felt from being caught off guard. "I need to head to the kitchen," she said, trying to change the subject.

"Actually, I was just about to get some breakfast."Care to join me?" Alpha Mykel asked, his grin turning into a warm smile.

Kitara hesitated for a moment, but her stomach growled in response to the mention of food. "Sure," she finally agreed, following him towards the kitchen. Amaya spotted them from afar, and with rage she walked towards them, grabbing Kitara by the hand and dragged her to a corner away from Alpha Mykel.
