Chapter 20 Working into the traps

"Looks like we're in business," Kitara murmured to herself as she strode confidently into the kitchen, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of trouble. She had a job to do, and she was determined to do it well. As she moved through the room, her senses were on high alert, attuned to even the slightest sound or movement.

Despite the flurry of activity around her, Kitara remained focused and composed, her mind sharp and clear. She had been in this kitchen before, and she knew exactly where to go to find what she needed. With practiced ease, she made her way to the designated area, where a group of chefs were hard at work, chopping, stirring, and sautéing with a feverish intensity.

Kitara didn't waste any time getting to work, joining the chefs at their stations and quickly making herself useful. Despite the heat of the kitchen and the pressure of the deadline, she remained cool and collected, her movements efficient and precise.

As she worked, she couldn't help but marvel at the skill and dedication of her fellow chefs. They worked tirelessly, their faces etched with concentration as they strove to create culinary masterpieces that would delight and impress their guests.

For Kitara, being in the kitchen was more than just a job. It was a passion, a calling, and a way of life. She loved the thrill of the heat, the intensity of the pressure, the satisfaction of a job well done.  And as she worked alongside her colleagues, she felt a deep sense of pride and camaraderie, knowing that they were all in this together.

Despite the long hours and hard work, Kitara never lost sight of the joy and beauty of her craft. For her, cooking was a form of art, a way of expressing herself and bringing joy to others. And as she put the finishing touches on her latest creation, she couldn't help but feel a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction, knowing that she had done her best and created something truly special.

Amaya walked into the room and bowed before him, her eyes bright with excitement. "Thank you for having me, Mykel." I hope you don't mind me dropping by like this."

Mykel smiled at her. "Of course not." We're friends, remember?  "There's no need to be so formal."

Amaya smiled back at him, feeling grateful for his easygoing nature.  "Thank you, Mykel. That means a lot to me."

As Amaya settled into a chair in Mykel's quarters, she couldn't help but feel relaxed.  It was always nice to spend time with her friend, even if it was just a casual chat over coffee.  She watched as Mykel poured them both a cup, the steam rising from the kettle and filling the room with the scent of freshly brewed coffee.

"So if I may ask, why did you drop by?" "It's unusual for you to visit at this hour," Mykel asked, breaking the silence.

Amaya took a sip of her coffee, savoring the rich flavor.  "Well, I was just strolling in the cool breeze of the night and decided to check on you. I hope you're not offended by that?" she replied.

Mykel smiled.  "Of course not; it's always a pleasure to have your company." "Besides, it's not every day that I get to share a cup of coffee with such a lovely lady."

Amaya blushed at the compliment. She knew that Mykel didn't mean anything by it, but it still made her feel good to hear.  They continued chatting for a while, catching up on each other's lives and discussing their plans for the future.

"I think I should be on my way now," Amaya said, finishing the last of her coffee.

"Oh, okay.  I enjoyed every second we spent together. It feels like we should spend a few more together," Alpha Mykel said, a smile spreading across his face.

Amaya returned the smile. "Well, we can if you're willing to walk me to my quarters, your majesty, without your bodyguards.  "I would really appreciate that."

Mykel's smile faltered for a moment, but then he regained his composure. "You would be happy with that?"

Amaya's heart sank a little at his hesitation.  "Yeah, but I understand if you can't." We may be friends, but you're also a king."

Mykel considered her request for a moment, then nodded. "Shall we proceed?" he asked, opening the door to his room.

Amaya couldn't believe it.  She had never been alone with Mykel before, without the watchful eyes of his guards or advisors.  She followed him out of the room and into the vast castle environment, unsure of where they were headed.

As they walked, Mykel pointed out different landmarks and shared stories about the history of the castle.  Amaya listened attentively, hanging on his every word. They laughed and joked, enjoying each other's company in a way that they never had before.

Eventually they came close to the kitchen, Amaya was happy her luring is working out pretty good, how will you like to have a late night food.  "I will love to prepare one for you; you have never had a taste of it before," Amaya said.

Thanks, but I think I already have a taste of what I can't have a taste of again. You see, I know you are a great cook, but I must be honest; I met a cleaner here earlier today, and she cooked something out of this world. "I wish I could have a taste of her dish again." Alpha Mykel said as he recounted the memory of having the food Kitara had prepared, he could still remember how delicious it tasted.

"I don't know who this girl is but am sure am a better cook than her, or have you fall in love with another girl" Amaya said.

Mykel then knew he was wrong  Kitara was not the only one to be formal with him, but also Amaya. "Yeah, sure, let me have a taste of your dish, but I'm sure it's not as good as hers," Alpha Mykel said as they heard from the kitchen.
