Chapter 47 The torture room

Chapter 47 The torture room
Asha
I get to the hallway leading to the torture room. I can already hear voices coming out of the room. I've never been close to the torture room before, this is going to be a first.
   Hopefully, I don't die today.
I tiptoe to the torture room, hoping on some divine entity the door is open somehow.
    The door is open!
"Bingo!" I whisper-yell, pumping my fist as a sign of victory.
I hurry to the door, and peek through the small opening the door creates.
I can't see properly from this angle, I wonder if I would he able to witness anything. I can't even see anyone's faces in there.
Damn it. What do I do?
I dig my teeth into my lips in frustration. I have to do something. How do i open the door without getting their attention?
Just go inside as stealthily as you can. No one has to notice.
   Lola.
She's probably going to be the reason I die before I'm supposed to.
I push the door open as quietly as I can. Fortunately for me, they are so engrossed in their conversation, they don't notice when I come in.
I push myself inside, close the door to the position I saw it earlier, then tiptoe to another part of the room that's a bit hidden from view.
The punge of metallic blood hits my nose with full force. I grimace in response. What the fuck? Are dead bodies buried in here?
My knees almost give way when I reach that side of the room. Relief and gratefulness washes over me.
"Thank goodness," I rest against the wall, finally settling down enough to watch what's going on.
My eyes take in their surroundings. Ugh, the torture room is truly a horrible place. The metallic smell of blood has become stronger, fifferent equipments which I believe to be torture tools litter about like they're pieces of paper.
My heart is filled with an instant dread. I shouldn't have come here.
I swallow hard, exhaling softly to calm myself down. I'm already here, what's the worse that could happen?
I crane my neck to see who the culprit is. My eyes land on him. Hands and feet bound. Left eye is now a black eye, his right eye covered in bruises. The right part of his face is swollen badly, and his mouth is dripping with blood that doesn't end.
I squint my eyes to process his face. He isn't Raze. He's not even someone I've seen before.
"Poor thing. Why would they beat him up so bad? He only gave out intel," I whisper.
Despite the fact that I thought I'd be angry at whoever the traitor was, I find myself feeling sorry for this man. No one deserves to be beaten up so bad.
"Where did you find him?" Auren's voice brings me back to the present.
He's not hard to find. He's circling the man like a predator ready to pounce.
He doesn't look like the man who was trying to take me to the moon and back. No, no, he looks like a monster, a demon even— if those creatures existed.
The light green in his eyes have darkened to an unrecognizable shade of stormy grey. A smile that doesn't quite reach his scary eyes is plastered on his lips.
Something cold melts onto my stomach lining, then it instantly turns hot burning its way through the lining.
   Fear.
"Aidan did most of the job actually. He was the one who brought him to me, boss," Raze replies.
I narrow my eyes suspiciously. Something's not right.
"Never would I imagine you were the traitor, Brian," Auren whips out a revolver.
I almost gasp, but I'm quick to stifle, and place my hands over my mouth.
"I.. I'm not sir," he coughs out blood.
I notice he has almost no teeth.
Auren presses the gun to his forehead, "Don't waste my time. Tell me who sent you. Was it Rheagar or Orion?"
The man tries to shake his head, but Aidan gives him a hard knock.
I frown at the interruption. Who is this Aidan guy? He's always doing too much.
"Don't you try to deny anything!" He yells at Brian.
"I will ask you again, Brian, was it Rheagar or Orion that sent you?" Auren repeats the question, a silent storm brewing in his eyes.
Never have I seen him have so much heat in those eyes.
   "I swearrr...I do..n't, I didn't," the man shakes his head repeatedly, "I.. not a trai..tor."
Unexplainable sadness fills my heart. This feels so wrong. Deep down, I feel he's not the one who's responsible for this.
Auren's brows knit together together so tightly, they're almost touching.
"Don't you test my patience, Brian. Tell me the truth, and I'll let you go."
Brian's eyes fill with tears, and they run down his cheeks.
"Sir.. I swearrr," he keeps slurring as he has almost no teeth left. It's a miracle some of his words are still coherent.
He keeps on repeating that he's not a traitor.
"That's not even the answer to his question you idiot. Who sent you? Rheagar or Orion? No one gives a bloody fuck if you're the traitor. We already know you are," Raze lashes out at him.
Rage clutches me by the throat. I swear I'm seeing red. I just want to grab him by the throat, and strangle him until he dies. I just know he framed this innocent man.
"This will be the last time I'll ask you," Auren says, his voice cool in an unsettling way.
"Was it Rhaegar or Orion who sent you? This is the last time I'll ask."
Brian begins to cry. He spits, and coughs out blood at intervals.
"I do..n't know who.. who.. those.. are," he keeps shaking his head, affirming the fact he doesn't know who those people are.
My eyes fill with tears at the sight. I don't know why, but I believe him. Something in my heart tells me he's not the culprit.
"Since, you're being so stubborn," Auren sighs, pressing the gun to his head, "I should just delete you from this place. I fucking hate traitors, I can't have them living among me."
He pulls the trigger, and blam! The gun the goes off.
Brian falls to the ground— lifeless in an instant.
I don't know what comes over me, but I can't help the scream that escapes my throat.
