Chapter 41 A mole
Chapter 41 A mole
Asha
'Did I just fucking hug her?'
Yes, you just fucking hugged me, idiot.
He pats my back awkwardly, "You'll.. be fine. I won't let anything happen to you," his hand moves to my hair, and caresses it.
My heart skips a beat as I fully relax into his embrace. Endless tingles course through my body as I'm more aware of the fact that he's wrapping his arms around me.
He smells.. nice.
A scent I've never taken note of. Apple and Plum.
Heat crawls up from my neck to my face. Despite my tears, my stomach is tingling like crazy! No, stupid blush, go back before he sees you!
"You'll be fine. Don't panic so much, hm?"
"It's just that— it's too much to digest. I only tried to defend myself. Why should I get into trouble for that?" I sniffle, drawing back a loud snort.
He shrugs his shoulders, "Orion is a dumb little pup. All he has is volume and a useless rage. He can do nothing asides from waving his gun around," he laughs without humor to it.
I exhale softly, "I don't want to die... at least not yet."
His large hands cup my cheeks, and make me look up at him.
"I already told you. Nothing's going to happen to you while I'm here," his voice drops, his eyes piercing into my soul.
I don't know why, but my blush returns even stronger this time. My face is so hot I fear it'll wear out and explode from the heat.
"Of course, I have to keep myself alive and.. well, keep you alive too," he lets go of my face, "You're sort of my responsibility now," he sighs deeply, "Responsibilities must be taken care of, hm?"
I just stare back at him, taken aback by his words. Since when did he start being this reassuring?
'I should definitely slow down. She'll start thinking I have a soft spot for her now.'
My face falls, but I fix my expression quickly. I should stop giving away hints that I can read minds.
I suck in my lower lip, and take a step back hoping to calm my trembling body.
"Lucien is there too. He'll go feral once anyone tries to touch you. Haa, he's the OG on this," he throws his head back and laughs.
That sexy sound fills my ears, causing my heart to triple its heartbeat. I can't— oh goodness, why is he suddenly so sexy?!
I take a few steps back, and whirl around violently, rushing to my room.
"Are you alright?" He calls after me.
I nod as if he can see it, then disappear from his sight. I don't stop running until I get to my room, and shut the door behind me.
"Fuck you, bastard," I slide down the door, my heart still racing like crazy.
I shake my head to ease the flow of thoughts into my head.
Girl.
I pause. My ears perk up.
Girl.
"What the fuck? Lola?!" I almost scream.
It is I.
"Where have you been?" My voice cracks.
Well, this overly obsessed Lycan suppressed me, obviously. Why the fuck do you even have a Lycan in you? You're not one! It's been suppressing me for months!
I scratch my head nervously, "I.. I'm sorry."
And you forgot all about me, because you had someone who was professing love to you day and night. Hmph! Traitor.
"I'm sorry Lola. Events have been so many I didn't really think about you so much. I'm really sorry. How do I even make it up to you?"
Meh, I don't need those. Bye for now.
"What? Wait! I.. I need some advice. I think I'm going to die, and of course I don't want to die!"
No response.
I fall back with a defeated slump, "Goddess knows how I'll make it up to her."
My thoughts flash back to Vladimir, who looked like rage and death in a body. He didn't look pleased talking about me one bit. It was as if I were the bug who polluted his sweet drink.
"What if I ran away from here?"
Auren would die.
"Fuck it. How about I decide to go into hiding, and no one, not even Auren, would know where I am?"
Lola's voice pops up in my head.
How the fuck is that any different from running away, dummy?
I pull my lips into a pout. Tch, she's always nagging at me.
"Then what should I do?" I bury my face into my palm, sobs threatening to shake my entire frame.
"This is hopeless," my voice cracks again, "Maybe I should just turn myself in and—"
You will not do that, my love. Absolutely not!
Lucien's voice pops in with so much force, I jerk up from the floor, temporarily stunned.
"Okay, then what should I do?"
Why are you worrying so much when danger hasn't presented itself yet? None of them have seen you; hence, they can't take you.
"But the intel. Someone from Auren's circle is giving them intel. He has a mole in his inner circle."
We will find him, and bring him down.
"How can I trust you again? You almost had me killed the last time."
Exactly, you're always proving you're the know it all!
Lola snaps at him.
Oh my, what do they even do to each other when their voices don't pop in my head?
"We should start with the men not closest to him. They're more likely to betray him."
Wrong, Lucien counters, those men don't have that kind of courage and sleekness to pull that off. It's from his inner circle.
"I wish you could tell me who it was," I groan, "Unfortunately, you also don't know."
I open the door, ready to go outside to receive some fresh air and then have breakfast. My head's so hot right now, I'm sure I'm going to combust.
I step out of my room, closing the door behind me. Just then, I see Raze waltz by around a corner, whispering into his phone.
I narrow my eyes, wondering who he's talking to.
A bell in my head goes ding! Raze is among Auren's inner circle. His right hand man!
I hurry to the corner, and he's there still whispering, his eyes darting around to see if anyone is coming.
I strain my ears to hear what he's saying.
"I can't come now. Boss would be suspicious, and not let me go."
My eyes widen. What if the mole in Auren's circle is.. Raze?
I take a step back to hurry over to Auren, and tell him my suspicion, but alas, I tend to be unlucky in situations like this.
I crash into the vase behind me. I twirl around, horrified, to stabilize it, but it wobbles out of my grip and c
rashes to the floor with a loud clang.
