Chapter 27 He strikes again

Chapter 27 He strikes again
Auren

I've gotten you from the inside.
I read the words on the piece of paper over, and over again.
This is definitely from Rheagar. He's still out there, and I haven't laid my hands on him.
  Fuck it.
I grit my teeth as I crumple the piece of paper, and throw it in the trash can.
   What a silly fucker.
I rub my temples with my fingertips, temporarily closing my eyes. I imagine capturing Rheagar, and strangling the fuck out of him.
That's what I really want to do.
I exhale heavily, opening my eyes again. My eyes land on the wall clock. It's been two hours since that little lady left. Where is she now?
Just then, she bursts in through the front door, panting. I shoot my brows up, my shoulders tensing in alert.
"What's the matter with you?" I narrow my eyes.
She scoots over to where I'm standing, looking at me with big, wide eyes.
"Is it.. is it three hours already?" She gasps, placing a palm over her chest.
My shoulders droop. This creature never fails to surprise me and irk the vise around my brain.
"Is that why you broke in like that?" I sigh, already tired of her rambling.
"Mmh-mmh. I can't be away for three hours, and I don't want you to die."
   Why would I die?
A small smile starts to form at the corner of my lips. She's such a cute little thing who cares too much about—
I catch the smile forming, and press my lips back in a thin line. Nuh-uh, no letting down your guard in front of her.
She blinks her eyes. A thin line of disapproval formed on her lips.
"When will you ever be grateful?" She waltz past me, "Anyways, I'm hungry."
My nose catches a whiff of a manly scent. What the actual fuck?
I grab her arm before she can fully pass me.
"Where did you go to?" I squint at her.
  She blinks, "A cafe."
"How come there's this whiff of a man's scent on you? What did you go there to do?"
She pinches her brows tightly, "What are you even talking about? I went there to drink coffee, obviously," she tries to wiggle free.
I grab her by the small of her back, and pull her against myself. I swiftly bend down, pressing my nose to the nook of her neck, and drag in her scent.
There it is. The scent of lemon and cider hits me in the nose. My heartbeat immediately accelerates. Fuck, she smells delicious.
A soft gasp escapes her lips, "Auren?"
That's when I notice it. The whiff of a man's scent. A scent that seems familiar but I can't place a finger on.
I slowly move my head backwards to look at her face, "I can smell him on you. Who is he?"
Her eyes slightly widen, then narrow almost immediately, "What's your deal? Are you my boyfriend?" She finally wriggles herself out of my grip.
A pang hits me in the chest at her words. Of course, I'm not her boyfriend. I'm not entitled to her in anyway, so technically she can sleep with whoever she wants, I wouldn't care... But—
"You're strange," she shakes her head, moving past me to the kitchen, "Who knew you'd lose it just because you think you can smell a man on me."
Think? I can smell the fucker on her!
I clench my fists. Rage pumps in my veins. She lives with me now. What's this she's trying to do? Going out with other guys?
"You aren't jealous, are you?" I hear her voice infiltrate my ears.
I look over my shoulder to see her standing behind me, her hands crossed under her chest, a smirk plastered on her face.
"Shut up. Why would I be?" I snort.
"Because it's written all over your face. It's probably ringing in your thoughts too," her smirk widens.
My heart thuds a little, stops, then thuds again. This girl is impossible. She always seems to figure me out.
"Go away," I rake my hand through my hair, "I have a lot of things to do without you bothering me."
She shrugs, "You haven't answered my question so.. I'll take it that you're jealous as hell," She swirls around, strutting back to the kitchen.
As she struts, my eyes fall to the perfect curve of her ass. Damn, she's wonderful. I haven't grabbed it before, but I know for sure it'd fill my hands, and spill over.
Another shouldn't touch that; I should. She'd fit so perfectly in my arms, while her perfect little legs are wrapped around my waist, and I can't stop grinding my hard dick against her hot, wet, core.
   Wait—
I shouldn't be thinking of her like this. Get yourself back together, fool. You're a crime lord who doesn't give a fuck about women's lives. C'mon, build back your wall.
I straighten my shoulders, repeating that thought over, and over to myself. I really should be careful around her.
I glance over my shoulder again, but Asha's already gone into the kitchen.
   "Haa," I exhale.
I have a mission to find Rheagar out, not obsess over who she went to meet.
I drag myself to the couch, and sink myself into it. Ever since Cupcake came into my life, I've been getting sloppier. Hell, that's too bad for me.
Since when did I start letting a woman affect my work?
I palm my face, feeling obviously irritated with my sloppy self. I need to focus. I have to focus.
C'mon, take a deep breath now. One, two, three...
A knock on the door causes me to jerk slightly. Agh, I really have let my guard down too much. Even a knock on the door is causing me to flinch.
I drag myself from the couch, and to the door. I look through the peephole to see Aidan at the door, and he's holding a brown envelope.
  Hm?
I open the door, "Any news?"
"Good afternoon, boss. Here's a letter from Rheagar, sir."
I pinch my brows together, snatching the letter from him, "He has the nerve to send letters but not come out of hiding?"
"We tried tracking it, sir, but the source was just so hazy," he explains.
Since when did that bastard become so careful?
"It's okay, you can leave," I wave at him dismissively.
I close the door behind me, then immediately tear the envelope open. I fetch out the piece of paper, and open it.
'I have got my hands on your pretty little cupcake, bastard. If you try coming for me, she'll be the one to suffer it.
Signed with love from your favorite rival.'
My eyes see red at the inscriptions on the paper. Blood begins to pound in my head.
That bloody fool. Got his hands on Asha?
A small alarm bell goes off in my head. Is that what he meant
by he has already gotten me from the inside?
