Chapter 136 Wrong Name

Chapter 136 Wrong Name
I grabbed onto Azi’s arm because I was getting nervous. Azi just kept staring at him. In fact, he looked almost bored by what the leader was saying.

Leader Austin smiled. "I've been ruling here for hundreds of years. I never expected the day would come when I would surrender it myself."

My brows furrowed. What?

Leader Austin stood up. "I know what you're capable of. I don't want my people getting caught in the crossfire, so I'll stop here. You don't even have to demand it, I am willingly giving this to you..."

At that moment, I was torn between what to fear more, what might happen to this clan if he gave it up, or the fact that Azi caused so much terror that a leader would surrender just like that.

"Starting tomorrow..." Leader Austin took a deep breath. "You will have—"

"A few days..." Azi interrupted him. "I need a few more days."

Confusion washed over the leader's face. "I don't understand what you want, Azi—"

"Max," Azi cut him off again. "I want to remain Max for a few more days. Have you forgotten, Leader Austin? We came from the Eldoria Clan. I am Max, and this is my wife, Kina. We got lost in the woods and are currently staying with you for a few days."

A bright smile flickered across the leader's face. He took a deep breath before nodding. "You can stay as long as you like, Max. This place is open to you."

"Okay. That's all," Azi said.

Azi took my hand and pulled me out of the room. As soon as the door opened, Yorick was standing right outside. "Finished already? What did you talk about?"

"About you putting your hands on my wife," Azi answered. "That's what we talked about. Because the next time you touch her... I've already asked your father for your head."

Yorick mouth hung open in shock.

I let Azi pull me along again. Once we got outside, he let go of my hand to stretch his body. "Damn. I'm sleepy..."

I stared at him. "Y-you didn't go through with taking the clan?" I asked.

"Nah. Didn't I tell you that blood won't be spilled as long as I'm beside you?"

"But he offered it willingly—"

"Besides..." He chuckled. "I know you wouldn't let me hear the end of it. You seem to have grown fond of the people living here. If I took this place over, you'd nag me to give it back. So..." He leaned down with a smile, bringing his face close to mine. "Wish granted, Milady..."

I gave him a quick peck on his lips. Both of us were caught off guard by what I just did.

Azi blinked several times. "What's that for?"

My face flushed bright red. Out of sheer embarrassment, I immediately rushed past him and ran. I winced. Shit. Why did I do that? You're so stupid, Kina! Making a fool of yourself!

I came to a sudden halt when Azi instantly materialized right in front of me. "How dare you leave after smacking my lips—"

"Stop!" My face turned even redder. I tried to look away, but he kept catching my gaze. "I-I didn't mean to. I was just caught up in the moment!"

"Really?" he teased mockingly.

"Y-yes..."

"Okay. Mean it this time then, and make it longer." He closed his eyes and pouted his lips.

My eyes darted to a little kid standing not far away. It was Gideon, eating strawberries while watching us. He was chewing slowly, staring at us like he was watching a show.

"Asshole. There's a kid..." I pushed Azi away and walked over to Gideon, who remained standing where he was. "Hey. You're eating strawberries again."

Azi lazily walked over to join us.

"What is asshole?" Gideon asked.

I blinked at his question.

"Oh. He heard you, Shekina. You curse way too much." Azi crouched down next to Gideon. "Hey kid, where did you get those strawberries? Can I have some?"

"From the farm. I picked them this morning..." Gideon answered before eating another strawberry. He pouted as he chewed. "I gave two to Lady Kina. Papa told me to share with my playmates, but he didn't say anything about giving you any."

Azi sat down so he was eye-level with Gideon. "Listen, kid. Your dad is a bad influence. You shouldn't just share with your playmates. You should also give some to people who ask."

"Papa is not a bad influence, asshole! I'm going to tell Grandpa on you, just watch."

I covered my mouth the moment I heard what he called Azi. I had to fight so hard not to burst out laughing. Did he seriously think Asshole was Azi’s actual name?

"You're the one who was on the horse with Lady Kina yesterday, right?" Gideon asked further. He turned to me. "Lady Kina, what is Asshole to you?"

"Asshole is not my—"

"Gideon!" Yorick arrived, walking over to pick up his son. "Why are you here? Did you run away from Lady Neera again?"

The boy shook his head. "Break time, Papa. Asshole was asking me for strawberries. Should I give him some?"

"Who?" Yorick asked, confused.

I cleared my throat, trying my absolute hardest to hold back my laughter. Azi, on the other hand, looked completely lost. His brows were knit tight as he stared at the father and son.

"Is he your son?" Azi asked.

"Yes," Yorick responded. "I have a son. That's right, Max. So stop abandoning Kina. I was just joking last night. Anyway, I'll go take Gideon back first."

Gideon waved at us as they walked away. "See you later, Lady Kina! I'll give you some strawberries later too, Asshole!"

My smile quickly faded when Azi turned to look at me, his expression dead serious. "I need you in our room... now." With that, he turned his back and walked away.

What now?
