Chapter 88 Chapter 87
Evelyn.
Slowly, I blinked my eyes open, feeling a softness beneath me that was utterly foreign. A brief moment of disorientation clouded my senses as I tried to make sense of my surroundings. Where was I? The last thing I remembered was the sweet torment of the torture room, Alpha King Kieran's piercing gaze, the panful pleasure that consumed me. But now, I lay on a soft bed, my body feeling weightless, my senses still muddled by the remnants of our intense time together.
Blinking away the haze, I slowly pushed myself up, the effort causing a dull, throbbing ache to course through my limbs, my nether regions aching terribly. My hands traveled to the unfamiliar material of my clothing, or rather, the lack thereof. I looked down in surprise, my eyes widening. Instead of being completely naked, I was now clad in a flimsy silk nightdress that clung to my body like a whisper.
Confusion swirled within me as I gazed around the room. The dim lighting painted everything in shades of soft gray, and the gentle swaying of the curtains drew my attention to the ethereal dance of sunlight outside the window. The room was adorned with intricate designs, designs I was familiar with, and I couldn't help but wonder how I had come to be in this place.
A soft rustling sound broke through my thoughts, and I turned my head to see Alpha King Kieran. He was already dressed and watching me with an inscrutable expression. The fact that he was awake and here beside me sent a jolt of realization through me. I looked around again and I realized we were in his bedroom of his normal chambers. He had taken care of me, moved me to this room, and changed my clothes.
"Your majesty" I managed to utter, my voice barely more than a whisper, struggling to seat up.
He approached me with measured steps, his eyes never leaving mine. I attempted to sit up, but the dull aching in my muscles held me captive, and I winced in response, laying back down on the bed.
"Stay still," he ordered, his voice a soothing timbre that seemed out of place, considering the circumstances. Gently, he took a seat on the edge of the bed beside me, his strong fingers beginning to knead and massage my sore body. My eyes widened in surprise, but it was soon clouded over with contentment, a drowsy moan escaping my lips.
I closed my eyes, overwhelmed by a rush of sensations—the pain, the relief of his touch, and the uncertainty of this strange situation. The ache in my muscles began to subside under his skilled ministrations, and I couldn't help but let out a grateful sigh.
I opened my eyes to find Kieran's gaze locked on me, his expression unreadable. As his hands worked their magic, my heart swelled with affection for him. It was a strange mix of emotions, for I was still unsure of my feelings, yet the care he was showing me at this moment couldn't be denied.
"Thank you," I whispered, the words carrying a weight of gratitude I could barely express. The corners of his lips twitched, a subtle sign of acknowledgment. He removed his hands, his touch no longer soothing the aches in my body and stood to his feet.
Before leaving the room, he turned to me and spoke. "You're not allowed to leave this room today. you've been removed from your duties for the time being. Rest and recover. I've already ordered the maids to bring in your food and bath when you're ready. When I return, we'll discuss everything." His tone was resolute, and I could see the weight of his responsibilities resting on his shoulders.
I nodded, feeling the fatigue creeping back in, and relief from not having anywhere to go. He turned to leave the room, but before he could disappear, I summoned the words that had been swirling within me.
"Thank you... For giving me another chance," I said softly, my voice filled with sincerity.
He paused at the door and turned back to look at me. There was a hint of something in his eyes, a mixture of emotions that I couldn't quite decipher. His lips parted, as if he was about to say something, but then he only nodded, snapped his mouth shut, and left the room.
I laid back on the bed, a small smile gracing my lips. The events of the past days had been tumultuous, filled with pain and confusion, but here, in this room, I found a glimmer of hope. It didn't take long for the exhaustion to overtake me, and I drifted back into a peaceful slumber, my heart lighter than it had been in a long time.

I slept the whole morning away and by the time I woke up, it was clearly midday. Famished, I called on the maids to bring in my food and I settled to eat. Different delicacies filled the platter and I took a bite from all of it, the hot food warming my entire body and delighting my taste buds. Once I was through with my meal, someone knocked at the door. I responded for the person to come in and was elated to find out it was Amaris.
She saw me on the bed and a smile graced her lips as she hurried towards me, firmly hugging me. I smiled, pulling away from the hug to stare at her, noticing the nervous look on her face.
"How are you? I was so worried about you!" Amaris said, settling down to sit beside me as she held my hands. I smiled, feeling my cheeks flush.
"As you can see, I'm doing alright. Thanks for worrying about me."
"For a moment, I thought the Alpha King would seriously harm you. But then I saw him going about his duties and I figured none of that happened. What did he do then? You were with him all night and you didn't even come out to work." She said and I felt my cheeks burn.
"We... Mainly discussed and he left me off the hook today, that's why I'm inside." I told her, skipping on all the erotic parts. That was just for me.
"How's your relationship with him now?" She asked, her voice tinged with worry. I pushed my knees together, bringing it closer to myself as I rested my hands on it, thinking deeply.
"It's on the mend," I finally let out, biting my lip. "So many miscommunications have been corrected and I'm just hoping we can progress from here." I told her and a look of relief crossed her eyes.
"I'm so happy to hear that. You deserve all the happiness you can get."
"Thank you, Amaris." I told her but she just waved it off, chuckling slightly. I giggled a bit, before my eyes caught the red bite marks on her neck and I paused. Raising a brow, I pointed at the mark on her shoulders and Amaris turned to look at it, a light flush staining her cheeks as she brought up a hand to touch it.
