Chapter 65 Chapter 64
Evelyn.
Even though the Moon Goddess Festival was a success, I couldn't relate to it due to the tumultuous emotions the prophecy had ignited in me. I Dreaded the Alpha king's summon with the whole of my being, but I also knew I couldn't avoid it either. Despite this, I resolved within myself that I won't let it go down without a fight.
The third night had just been concluded and everyone was going back to their respective home. I had buried myself in my work, trying to push such disturbing thoughts to the back of my mind with little success. Though Amaris had been a wonderful friend, keeping me company whenever I needed it, this was one of the moments when I needed to be utterly alone. I continued to work, my anger and resentment for the Alpha King growing by the second.
As if by cruel fate, a guard approached me, an impassive look on his face. "The Alpha King has summoned you to his chambers. Do not keep him waiting." He spoke curtly and my heart dropped to the ground, shattering to pieces. Taking in a shaky breath, I jerkily nodded, cleaning of my clammy hands on my apron before heading to the Alpha king's chambers.
When though I knew this was inevitable, I couldn't help the chord of fear that ran up my spine. I finally reached his doors, my heart in my throat and cold sweat appearing on my back. Knocking quietly I waited for the order for me to enter before pushing the door open and walking in.
Despite the brightness of day outside, his chambers was strangely dark and an eerie silence filled the room as I stepped inside, my footsteps soundless. Completely dressed, he had his back turned to me, huge and domineering. I swallowed the lump in my throat and lowered myself to my knees.
"You summoned me, master." I whispered, my voice barely audible as I squeezed the hem of my clothing in my hands, waiting him out. Seconds dragged by, neither of us saying a word. Finally, he turned to me and I gritted my teeth together, my body tensing, vehemently fighting the urge to cower in his imposing presence, sweat beading my forehead.
He took a step towards me, and another till he was directly in front of me. "You know why I summoned you here, do you not?" He asked and I nodded jerkily, biting the insides of my mouth to keep myself from crying in anger.
Not pleased with my mode of reply, he yanked me up by my hair, tilting my face so I was staring directly into his eyes, my heart pounding like a relentless drum. "I'd like you to use your words, Evelyn." He snarled, his elongated canines promising to rip me apart.
"Y-yes Master." I stammered out, tears stinging my eyes. He let me go and I rushed away from me, my scalp burning and mortification filling me to be brim. He quickly cornered me, caging me to the wall.
"It's more than obvious you're not pleased about it, are you?" He asked and I glared at him through my tears, wanting to rip him apart. So many words threatened to come out of my mouth but I snapped them shut, just staring at him, my chest heaving.
"What are you going to do?" I finally ground out, filled with nothing but rage and madness. "Force me to accept you? It'll never happen."
In a flash, he was pinning me to the wall, a hand pushed against my neck, cutting of my breath. "I hate you so much!" I gritted out, gasping and squeezing his arms, "You monster! I hate you more than words can describe. I'll never accept you, never! I'll never be a mate to a monster like you! " I screamed, despite losing my breath.
He just pressed his hand tighter against my neck, not moving or saying anything till all I could hear was my choking sounds filling the room, tears streaming down my face. A flicker of emotions exploded in his eyes but he didn't say anything, just continued to glare at me.
"Say it again." He finally growled, digging his nails into my skin till he was drawing blood. He looked dangerously close to killing me.
"You're a monster and I would never mate with someone like you. I reject you, Alpha King Kieran" I forced out, feeling faint. He dragged his nails up to my face, his eyes growing darker by the second. Unable to take it anymore, I started to pass out when he let me go, causing me to fall to the ground as fits of cough takes a hold of me, my chest burning and body shaking, tears streaming from my eyes.
I dragged air into my lungs, clutching my neck which I'm sure were bruised from him strangling me, blood coating my fingers. He stepped away from me, walking back to his study, leaving me to wonder what he's going to do next.
"Guards!" He bellowed out, not missing a beat as he glared at me. Two of them rushed in, bowing their heads immediately, waiting for his command.
"Take her to the dungeons. Let her be without food or water for three days." He ordered coldly, his eyes not wavering from mine. My mouth fell open, trepidation filling me to the brim. What the...!?
"Yes your majesty!" They chorused together before pulling me to up to my feet, their strength terrifying.
"Let me go!" I tried to scream but I could only get a few words out before a fit of cough took over. They started to drag me out of his chambers and no matter how much I struggled, I was no match for them. "Your majesty!" I yelled in an attempt to salvage this precarious situation I seemed to have found myself but his face only grew darker, his aura more menacing as he watched me being taken like a criminal on his way to be slaughtered.
By the moon goddess... What have I done?
