Chapter 20 Chapter 19
Alpha King Kieran.
Help us!
That was what Evelyn's wolf screamed at me before she got hounded by the perverse Alpha king's in the room and my eyes widened in shock. That was not supposed to happen. No Werewolf of any kind should be able to mind-link to me except my mate and that was only when I allowed it. But it was not the case here.
Evelyn's mind had reached out to mine, a connection so profound that it defied the boundaries of our world. It was as if her very essence had called out to me, and my senses were overwhelmed by the unexpected surge of emotions and thoughts. I stayed frozen, unable to understand what just happened.
My heart raced, and my mind raced even faster, struggling to comprehend the unprecedented event that had just transpired. This was not something I had ever experienced before. The bond between mates was sacred and rare, and yet, there she stood, unconscious and vulnerable, her wolf's call still echoing in my mind.
My own wolf, who had been seething for quite some time now, was anything but calm. It thrashed and howled within me, its agitation a visceral pain that cut through my very soul. Despite the fact that she was unconscious, it didn't stop the Alpha kings from wanting to have their way with her. I felt an overwhelming urge to protect and comfort her, to shield her from the torment of the council room.
Unable to bear the scene any longer, I shot to my feet, the words leaving my lips before I had a chance to think about it. "Stop it!" I bellowed, my deep voice resounding in the huge hall, my wolf clawing to the surface. I clutched the sides of the ornate council table, my knuckles white with the effort to maintain control, veins popping along my arms.
The council room fell into an eerie silence, a stark contrast to the chaos that had reigned just moments ago. The Alpha Kings watched me with a mixture of confusion and curiosity, their eyes demanding an explanation for my sudden change in demeanor. I could feel their scrutiny, their unspoken questions about why I had halted their torment of Evelyn.
"Why? What's wrong?" Someone asked, gazing at me. I stared at Evelyn who was lying limp on the table, her pale body marked with various bruises and my eyes narrowing, my blood boiling.
I struggled to find words, to explain the inexplicable. "She's not... ready yet," I muttered, my voice strained. It was a flimsy excuse, one that barely masked the truth. I couldn't reveal the depth of our connection, the fact that her wolf had reached out to mine in a way that defied all logic and tradition.
Desperation clawed at me, a desperate plea from my wolf for relief. The pain, a relentless torment that had plagued me for weeks, surged through me, threatening to break the tenuous control I had managed to maintain.
Ignoring their puzzled stares, I walked towards her, my strides purposeful as I lifted her from the table and cradled her to myself, her body cold against mine, her face streaked with tears. In that moment, I made a snap decision. I had to get her out of this room, away from their prying eyes and cruel intentions. Without a second thought, I turned to the council members and offered a diversion.
"I'll provide a substantial number of omegas for your pleasure," I declared, my words meant to divert their attention. "But Evelyn..." I hesitated, not wanting to reveal too much. "Evelyn is not yet prepared for such encounters. She still needs more training." I muttered, glancing at her as my grip tightened on her body.
They exchanged uncertain glances, but the allure of omegas was too enticing for them to question further. With my diversion accepted, I seized the opportunity to act. I beckoned on two guards and they immediately rushed to me, their heads bowed. "Go and get the omegas, and..." I trailed off, placing Evelyn on one of the soldiers arms. "Take her to the medicine man and have her treated." I instructed, my voice firm.
"Yes, your majesty." They replied in unison and quickly swung into action. Once she had been escorted away, I strolled back to my seat, feeling relieved that they didn't have their way. The council meeting resumed, their attention now on the promised omegas and the matters at hand. I, however, remained preoccupied with the tumultuous storm within me, waiting impatiently for the meeting to end.

Hours later, after all the festivities and a lot more discussions and decisions, the meeting drew to a close and all the Alpha king's present prepared to go back to their kingdoms and territories. Though I'm glad the meeting went well despite the disruption, I'm more worried about Evelyn and how she's doing.
After the meeting concluded and I had the chance, I left the council chamber with a sense of urgency, immediately searching for her. My wolf's agitation had not subsided, and I feared the consequences of leaving Evelyn alone in her traumatized state.
I found her the in the palace doctor's room, laying on a makeshift bed with an unfamiliar maid holding her hands as she cried softly. When she noticed my appearance, she immediately tore herself away from Evelyn, bowing immediately, her soft sniffles filling the air.
"Your Majesty." She greeted, showing her respect. I spared her a glance, my gaze immediately returning to Evelyn's side.
"How is she?" I asked, my voice calm and collected.
She sniffed and started explaining. "She woke up a while ago and the palace doctor administered some potions for her but..." She trailed off, breathing heavily as she gazed at Evelyn.
"What is it?" I prodded.
The maid opened her mouth to speak but just then, Evelyn started to move on the bed, tears leaving her tightly shut eyes as she twisted helplessly on the bed. "Please... Stop." She begged, crying. "You're hurting me." Then she growled. "Get your hands off me!" Before she starts crying anew.
The maid with her cried a little harder. "She's been doing that ever since she fell asleep. She never wakes up. Only struggles and cries. And she won't let anyone touch her. I'm scared."
I stared at her as she cried, but the maid soothed her and soon she went slack, all the fight draining out of her body. Unbiddenly, I remember moments when I was just like this, lying in bed and twisting helplessly as nightmares after nightmares plagued me. It feels like just a long time ago yet not so far away. My heart twisted with a mixture of anger and guilt as I gazed upon her. I could feel her pain, her fear, and it echoed within me.
My wolf raged within me, driving me to the brink of insanity. I held my breath, waiting for the agonizing pain to pass before speaking. "Bring her to my chambers and set up a tent for her where should be staying. I'll tend to her myself."
