Chapter 126 Chapter 125
Evelyn.
I pressed my lips together, looking for a way to convince him. "Time is running out, Kieran. I don't know how long it will take for Callahan to find us and I don't want to lose you." Taking a deep breath, I added. "It's just us now. Us against the thousands of Callahan's army."
As I looked into his eyes, I saw the warring emotions in them and I felt my heart pounding in my chest. The fire crackled softly, casting dancing shadows across the cave but Kieran refused to say anything. Instead, I felt him withdraw more and more into himself. I touched his arms and felt him flinch, his body tensing all over. "Kieran, are you here with me?" I finally asked when the silence became too much for me. He didn't reply, only stared at the flames in from of us, a faraway look in his eyes.
I took in a deep breath, running soothing caresses on his arms as I tried to reach him again. "I know what you're thinking but it's not true. You're not a weakling. You never were."
"Don't say that word." Kieran gritted through clenched teeth.
"It's true, your aren't." I stressed, my voice serious. "You're the Alpha king of Silver Crest kingdom and you have rules with so much dignity and grace, you have earned that throne with your blood, sweat and tears. You deserve it more than that man, that monster who sits on it right now. He is just an imposter." I felt a flicker of hope ignite within me and I pressed on.
"I have been wrong about you once. Probably, everyone has. But, everything you've done, every decision you've made up until this moment, was for a noble cause. No matter how much it hurt. And that's what I admire about you. It takes real courage to go through all of that and still be a great ruler, putting the needs of your people before yours. That does not make you weakling. It makes you a valiant ruler."
I grabbed on to his arms again, and this time he didn't flinch away. "I know I can help. So let me help. Tell me what I have to do." I finished and waited for him to speak, my heart in my throat. While I waited, I saw the depth of his resolve, the unwavering strength that lay beneath his pain.
It took forever but he finally looked at me, uncertainty filling his eyes. "Is everything you said to me true?" He asked, his voice so faint I has to strain my ears to hear him. I reached out my hands to hold his face, my gaze never leaving his face.
"Open me up and you'll find no lies." I whispered, my voice unwavering. He regarded me quietly for a while before pulling into a bone-crushing hug. A soft gasp escaped my lips but I quickly wrapped my hands around him, more than overjoyed.
"I will continue to bless the moon goddess for bringing you to me." He muttered against my neck and I felt my heart swell with joy and love, close to bursting. In that moment, I knew that we were bound by more than mere circumstance. We were bound by a shared struggle, by the unyielding force of our will to survive, and also with love.
He pulled away, cupping my face with his hands, his eyes shining even as his face remained inscrutable. I beamed at him, even as my eyes shone with tears. "So, what do I do now?" I asked again, my voice taking on a brighter note.
He mulled over it for a while before looking at me. "It's really not too much. It's just..." He trailed, the rest of his words stopping in his mouth.
"It's just what?" I prodded, staring at him.
"Being intimate with owns mate speeds up the healing process and as you can see, it's what I'm struggling with so..."
"Oh..." I muttered as I felt my entire body flush with heat. I looked down at my body and noticed the bruises and wounds I had sustained and my blush grew. That's why he said I was in no position to help. But time was running out. "It's okay, as long as you'll be gentle." I muttered, slightly unsure.
Kieran let out a derisive chuckle as he stared at me. "Gentle? I can promise you that." He finally admitted. I thought about it for a while before a thought struck me.
"This healing process... Is it vice-versa?" I asked and he shrugged, considering it.
"I guess, since you're a Werewolf as well."
"Then, it shouldn't be a problem." I stated, my mid made up.
"You think?" He mumbled, still unbelieving.
"I know..." I whispered, reaching up to kiss him. Pushing my tongue into his mouth, i tasted the insides of his mouth, moaning softly into his mouth. When I felt his hands grip my waist more securely, I pulled away to stare at his face, biting my lower lip as my chest rose and fell. "So, do you what you have to do."
It was all the prodding Kieran needed as he smashed his lips on mine, stealing my breath and mind away...
