Chapter 120 Chapter 119
Evelyn.
I let out a sad smile, looking ahead of me, the bowl in my hands already forgotten. "I understand. I really wish I didn't do what I did. But I also couldn't let Callahan kill Keiran either. I wouldn't be able to survive it." I admitted. Amaris' eyes mirrored my fears and sadness, and we shared a moment of silent acknowledgment. We both knew the future wasn't looking good. Callahan's rule had brought darkness, and things were falling apart.
"It's okay, we'll find a way. We just need to stick together through it all." Amaris tried to encourage me. I took her words with a grain of salt as I turned my gaze back to the bowl of soup in my hands, completely lost in thought. By the moon goddess, what are we to find now?
A few days later, curiosity got the better of me and I ventured into the castle, trying to find out Callahan's plans for the kingdom now, apart from that, the desire to know if Kieran was alive and well overrode any sense of fear I might have had. Wearing a cloak and keeping my head down, I tiptoes to the council room, pressing my ears to the doors as I tried to listen in, desperate for any kind of information.
Amidst the whispers, Callahan's enraged growls pierced the air. Tension crackled as he berated his soldiers for failing to locate Kieran. His thunderous voice echoed, declaring, "Kieran is not a pin! How hard can it be to find him!" Frustration dripped from his words, revealing that Kieran remained unfound, stoking Callahan's fury. I felt relief at his words but still pressed my ears to listen more.
"Go and look for him goddamitt! I should have killed that bastard with my bare hands when I had the chance." He roared, causing a shiver to run down my spine as I pressed my lips together, trying to swallow down a gasp.
A sickening snap reached my ears, a grim punctuation to Callahan's mounting rage. I trembled, starting to back away when the doors swung open abruptly, sending me sprawling onto the cold floor. Surprised, I stayed on the ground as an oppressive silence loomed over me, the ugly smell of blood filling my nostrils and causing me to scrunch up my nose. It didn't take long for Callahan to approach me, his footsteps soundless, yet menacing. Callahan loomed over me, a dark force radiating menace. Shaking, I lifted myself from the ground, turning my head to meet Callahans sinister gaze.
My stomach did a backflip, but I met his gaze hwad on, determined not to reveal my fear. Cocking his head to the side, he slowly regarded me, his brows rising in question. "It's been a while since I saw you. Where have you been?"
"That's none of your business." I retorted, my voice defiant and filled with so much fury. He chuckled lightly before his gaze grew darker and I something dark grow form the pit of my stomach. In a surge of wrath, Callahan seized me, lifting me off the ground like a puppet.
Dangling in the air, I screamed for release, my voice slicing through the air. "Let me go!" Struggling to get away from his menacing grip, glaring daggers at him. His laughter, cold and mocking, echoed in response.
"For someone who has ruined the lives of thousands and brought disaster to this kingdom, you sure do pack a punch." He taunted me, and I felt tears sting my eyes even as I struggled to her away from him.
Hurt by his words yet fueled by anger, I confronted him. "What do you want?" I seethed through gritted teeth, feeling a tear roll down my cheeks but unable to clean it off. He furrowed his brow as if deep in thought and I resisted the urge to spit at him. The air thickened with the clash of wills, a dangerous dance between captor and captive.
"Let me see... I discussed making you my sex slave, didn't I?" He asked and I felt my heart drop to my stomach, my body growing cold. "It would be so much fun to play around with the very thing Kieran treasured so much, pratically sacrificed his life for." He sneered at him, his words scalding.
"Let go of me!" I screamed at him, and unable to keep it down anymore, gathered phlegm into my mouth and spat to his face. Stunned, his grip on me loosened and he dropped me to the ground. I quickly hurried away from him but didn't make it far when he dragged me back, his hand making contact with my face. He slapped me so hard, my vision turned white and my ears rang. I crumbled to the ground, cradling my face as if a club had been used on that part of me. I was too shocked to even yelp.
"Now... You're really just pushing it this time around, aren't you?" He growled at me, looking dangerously close to tearing me apart.
"Go to hell!" I yelled at him, my voice trembling and tears leaving my eyes like rain drops even as I covered in front of him. He moved closer but I just scrambled away from him, too scared of him. "Get away from me, you monster!" I yelled even louder.
"I'll show what a monster is, right here, right now." Callahan growled above me before turning his attention to the soldiers around him, a sinister grin on his face. "How about I let all these men here rape you here and now?" He suggested and I trembled all over, terrified to my core. My blood ran cold as I saw the eager look on the men's faces and the words fell out of my lips before I had a chance to stop it.
"No... No... You wouldn't dare." I tumbled out, my voice barely more than a whisper as I backed away from Callahan. A cackle broke out of his lips and he walked closer to me, pulling me it face him with my hair.
