The True Facet of a Loaded Die

The True Facet of a Loaded Die
Things were heavy with a lot of headaches. Mayara glanced to the side. Meanwhile, Celina was gradually returning to her normal routine after her near-fatal accident. She had had enough of it all and wanted a break from everything she was facing. Her fashionista and princess side craved a toast to the new moment, without any pauses for anything else.
In the meantime, someone was following her, keeping an eye on her. Mayara had another bad feeling about it. She had decided to mend things with Arthur. She needed to talk and answer his questions.
Then, in his apartment, Arthur woke up and, groggy, turned to the side, murmuring something inaudible. As his vision became clearer, he saw Mayara stroking his blonde hair, practically leaning against him. Something was about to happen or was about to happen; he analyzed the serious expression on the girl’s face.
— Arthur... — she began to speak.
— What happened? — he asked, half asleep, half awake, but without beating around the bush. — What is it, Mayara? What are you doing here?
He could barely move. His body felt weak. Mayara’s caress disarmed him, and he looked at her in silence for a few minutes. Mayara watched him and sighed. She herself didn’t know what she was doing in his hotel apartment. She stopped stroking his hair.
— I... I need to go, my love. Some things happened, and I have some commitments.
Arthur frowned, confused, and sat up, pushing the blanket aside.
— Alright... but... Mayara?
Point of view from Arthur:
He was trying to move on, with his mind full of doubts. Arthur slowly opened his eyes, still groggy, and turned in bed, murmuring something unintelligible. The light coming through the partially opened curtains cleared his vision, revealing a familiar figure beside him. He blinked a few times, still in disbelief, and saw Mayara sitting on the edge of the bed, stroking his blonde hair with a serious expression. Something was about to be said — or perhaps done. He felt that in the silent intensity of the moment.
She was quite absorbed, gently running her fingers through his hair, of a sleepy Arthur who looked so peaceful in his tranquil sleep. His blonde hair, thick and silky... shiny... She missed being close to him, without all the conflicts. He there, so close... She hesitated to call him. One thing could be said: the young woman was deep in thought about what to say to Arthur.
— Arthur... — Mayara began, her voice sounding hesitant, almost a whisper.
He lifted his head slightly from the pillow, still half-awake, still half-lost.
— What happened? — he asked, his voice hoarse and heavy with sleep. — What is it, Mayara? What are you doing here?
His question came out straightforwardly, but the tone was gentle. He could barely move his body, still feeling the remnants of fatigue weighing upon him. However, Mayara’s touch disarmed him, forcing him to meet her gaze in silence for a few moments.
Mayara took a deep breath, looking away. She herself didn’t quite know what had brought her to Arthur’s hotel apartment. Something inside her felt conflicted, as if she were being pulled in opposite directions. After a moment, she stopped stroking his hair and abruptly stood up, as if she had made a sudden decision.
— I... I need to go, my love. Some things happened, and I have some commitments.
Arthur frowned, confused. He shifted in bed, pushing the blanket aside, still trying to piece together the situation.
— Alright... but... Mayara?
There was uncertainty in his voice, a weight he couldn’t hide. He watched her with eyes heavy with doubt and concern, while she seemed determined not to yield to the moment any longer.
Mayara avoided looking at him again, as if something were consuming her. She knew that the connection between them was strong, but there was so much happening at the same time, so many pieces on the board that needed attention.
Arthur ran a hand through his hair, trying to clear his confused mind, but thoughts assailed him. He had no answers, only more questions. Trying not to let the discomfort show, he took a deep breath and tried to move on, even with his heart and mind heavy with doubts.
His heart would speak instead of his brain. — Are you going to see someone? — he asked, jealousy creeping in. — Please tell me the truth, Mayara.
She remained silent. Now a crucial point was being crossed. And she took a deep breath. — Okay... Arthur demanded an explanation, demanded so many things. His gray eyes darkened to a cold violet, filled with desires and unanswered questions, clear jealousy... — I... I need to go, Arthur.
In that minute, she had experienced immense emotions and feelings in her heart that might not make sense to him. Had coming here been a mistake? Should she explain things to him? How the reality between them was so complex and complicated? She was about to stand up when she felt something. He grabbed her by the arm and placed a hand on her waist, demanding answers, preventing her from fully getting up. The lazy and sleepy look turned into something hungry. She was breathing heavily.
And that made everything more complicated. In Mayara's mind, the problem of Arthur's speculations could be leading down a dark and very dangerous path. How could she clarify all of this?So she starts looking again at the old handwritten and printed letters sent by Santiago. She still has no concrete evidence.
All the concrete evidence was still very small compared to the serious problem this could mean, and that was a very strong problem for Mayara to deal with as well.
Mayara's life was about to take a dark turn, she felt that Arthur was doubting her more and more, and it hurt her so much! Would she really have to prove to him that Santiago was the villain?
