Chapter 116 Diana's Ambition

It was still early, and those people hadn't gone to sleep yet. Maria sat on the ground wrapped in a blanket, pretending to sleep with her eyes closed. She hadn't slept much the previous night, sharing a room with someone who wanted to kill her. Maria couldn't sleep soundly, and as time passed, just when Maria felt it was about time, she suddenly heard the sound of noisy footsteps outside.

The footsteps were heading in her direction, and Maria's heart skipped a beat, her body instantly tensing up. Had her plan to escape been discovered? As she was pondering what to do, the footsteps passed by her door and moved away, gradually fading into the distance.

Maria let out a sigh of relief, but soon the footsteps returned. Maria heard someone shout that the boss was back, and she felt a bit helpless. It seemed that her escape plan for tonight had to be postponed. Just as she was about to rest, she heard the sound of the door lock being opened. Maria stood up and walked towards the door. As she approached, the door opened, and a burly man glanced at her and said in a muffled voice, "The boss wants to see you."

Maria followed the burly man outside the room. She thought it would be the same as before, but to her surprise, the burly man indicated for her to go inside. Maria didn't think going inside was a good thing, so she walked into the room with heightened vigilance.

The room was very clean, not very luxurious, and looked quite ordinary. Maria looked up and met William's gaze. William smiled at her, "Ms. Brown, are you getting used to staying here? If you need anything, you can ask my men."

Maria lowered her eyes and said calmly, "Got it."

Her response was a bit dry, but William didn't mind. He seemed to notice her tension and continued with a smile, "Ms. Brown, there's no need to be nervous. I mean no harm. As long as Mr. Smith arrives on time, I won't do anything to you."

Maria's heart sank, remembering what Diana had said. Henry had to choose between her and Diana, and Henry would definitely not choose her, so she had to find a way out herself.

"Is there anything else?" Maria looked at William, who suddenly smiled and said, "Ms. Brown, you know about Henry and Diana, right? Haven't you thought about finding someone else?"

Finding someone else to marry? Maria didn't quite understand what William meant, but she didn't dwell on it and simply said, "No need."

On her way back, she was escorted by the same two people. Maria didn't understand William's intentions, but it didn't matter. The door was closed and locked again, and Maria lay down and closed her eyes.

That night, she slept very soundly, but Henry couldn't sleep. Ethan had found out about Maria's kidnapping and instructed Henry to ensure Maria's safe return, no matter the cost. Henry didn't tell Ethan that Diana had also been kidnapped because he knew Ethan wouldn't let him save Diana. Kenna cried until her eyes were swollen when she found out Maria had been kidnapped, almost revealing Diana's situation to Ethan, but Henry stopped her in time.

Jared stayed behind to help because of Maria's kidnapping. And today was the date he had agreed upon with William.

Henry looked at the address sent to his phone and said in a steady voice to Jared, "Make sure Maria is safe."

Jared knew how important Maria was to Henry, so he nodded. The car sped off from the hotel.

Meanwhile, Diana had also ordered those people to kill Maria. She hadn't been idle these past two days, seducing the burly man she favored and successfully stirring his ambition to replace William.

Thinking that after today Maria would no longer be a threat and she would gain a new capable admirer, Diana was in a great mood. But her good mood turned to panic when she and the burly man were caught in the act by William.

"William, I can explain, I was forced," Diana's expression changed in an instant, from a participant to a victim. William's smile remained unchanged, but those who knew him well could see the cruelty hidden beneath his smile.

"Really?" William didn't say whether he believed her or not, but he said with a smile, "Forcing my woman? Then he should be executed."

Diana's face showed shock. She knew William valued his subordinates highly and wouldn't punish them severely unless they betrayed him. This loyalty made his subordinates very devoted to him.

"William, you must be joking," Diana couldn't help but speak. She had worked hard to turn this man against William, and she wasn't willing to let him be killed so easily.

William looked at her with a smile, but his tone turned cold, "Do you think I'm joking?"

Diana's breath caught. She bit her lip and suddenly said, "William, I don't want you to execute your subordinate because of me. Even if he forced me, I'm willing to forgive him. William, you should forgive him too."

William seemed to hear something amusing. He looked at Diana with a smile and said lightly, "So you want me to accept your betrayal?"

Diana's face turned pale. She walked to William's side, and since she and the burly man had been caught in the act, she wasn't wearing any clothes. She pressed her naked body against William's and said coquettishly, "William, I know you don't care about this. As long as my heart is yours, right?"

William chuckled, his tone suddenly softening, "You know me well." He lifted Diana's chin as if to kiss her. Diana's eyes were filled with pride, thinking that William was still infatuated with her.

But Diana didn't get William's kiss. He only brushed his thumb against her lips, showing a look of disdain. He picked up a tissue and carefully wiped his fingers that had touched Diana's lips. Before Diana could feel humiliated, William spoke again, his tone still indifferent, "But I don't like being betrayed. Execute him and make sure to dispose of the body properly."

Diana was shock. She wanted to say something, but William had already turned and left. Diana looked at the burly man being held by others, bit her lip, grabbed some clothes, and chased after William. She still thought William was executing the burly man out of jealousy and believed that pleasing William would save the man's life. She was confident in her ability to do so.

Unfortunately, before she could do anything, a subordinate came over with a message, "Boss, Henry is here."

Diana stopped in her tracks, her face showing delight. Thinking about her current appearance, she no longer cared about the burly man facing execution and turned to her room to freshen up and change clothes.

William's eyes showed amusement. He nodded and instructed the burly man, "Bring him in."

The burly man quickly left. Meanwhile, in the room, Maria heard the commotion outside, including a voice saying, "Mr. Smith."

Henry was here! Realizing this, Maria's heart started racing. She didn't even notice the joy in her heart. But soon, she heard another voice, William's, "Mr. Smith, it's a pleasure to see you again."
