Chapter 97
Chapter 97
Today was the day! Today represented change that would come to all. A new beginning! I laid in bed, trying not to make a movement or sound to alert Wyatt that I was awake. I needed a few minutes to myself to wrap my head around everything. We had fought so hard to get to this day and now it didn’t seem real. I was not happy about the branding, but I guessed it is what it is. Wyatt was PISSED off. I felt his anger through the bond. I was sure there would be a lot of things about this job that would upset him, but I felt as long as I had my support system, I would be able to handle anything.
The only thing I was worried about was the guest list. I assumed they needed to invite all the alphas and lunas. I knew they had to invite Damian and Holly, but surely they wouldn’t show… or anyone else that may not like me? Samantha really wasn’t much of a threat, so I couldn’t say I was that worried about her. If she even had the balls to show up here, I would handle her just fine.
“I know you are awake. When were you going to let me know?” Wyatt said sleepily.
“I wasn’t. I was just picturing punching Samantha in the mouth if she shows up today. I know that is not how I can act anymore since I am queen, but it would feel so good!” I said with a smile on my face.
“So, we are starting out the day on a happy note?” Wyatt said sarcastically.
“Yes, sir! I can’t image Damian, Holly, or Samantha would have the balls to show up here, but I know the guest list will be larger.”
Wyatt sighed. “Yeah, I was hoping you wouldn’t be paying attention to that. By law, we had to invite them, but I will be happy to kill him.”
“That is not how the king is supposed to talk!” I said laughing though. I would pay to see Wyatt’s hand wrapped around his neck.
“What happens behind closed doors stays behind closed doors,” Wyatt said and turned me over to face him. He placed the gentlest kiss on my lips. I kissed him back and felt myself instantly get aroused. “Whoa! Sorry, my queen, that must be saved for after the ceremony!”
Wyatt pulled back and slid out of bed. I tried to keep ahold of him, but he managed to maneuver out of my grasp, causing me to fall out of bed.
“Asshole!” I yelled as I rolled over to my back, rubbing my elbow that hit the ground. Wyatt was standing off to the side smirking at me. “How about you get a little closer and I will wipe that smirk off your face!” I warned as I showed him the electric spark coming out of my finger.
His eyes narrowed. “You wouldn’t dare!”
I gave him my best ‘try me’ face as I got off my feet and slowly advanced toward him. He was backpedaling hard. “Okay, FINE! You win,” he said with his eyes glued to my finger.
I nodded and put my hand down but kept enough spark to feel like a shock from the carpet. We started walking toward the bathroom, and I touched my finger to his ass. It caused him to yelp loudly and rub his ass.
“No shower for you!” he said and slammed the door shut and locked it.
“You realize I can knock this down, right?” I said laughing, but turned around and went to make coffee. What a sourpuss. I heard the shower turn on and smiled. I got the coffee grounds in the pot and just pressed brew when the door opened and a wet Wyatt stepped out, dripping water after him. He walked up to me, grabbed my hand and pulled me to the bathroom.
“Excuse me?” I said smiling. I swear, this man.
He didn’t say a word as he undressed me and pushed me in the shower. I went to grab the shampoo, but he slapped my hand away and he did it for me.
Oh, this was the kind of shower I was going to get. Fine, I let it happen because it felt good. He massaged my hair and massaged my body as he washed me. I tried wiggling my ass in his face, but he just slapped my ass and growled. No sexy time for me, I guess.
Sighing, I just let him do what he wanted, so he would stop pouting. It took everything I had to stop from smiling and laughing at him. I tried pushing some happiness to him over the bond, but he again growled at me, so I just let him do his thing.
After the shower, he pushed me into the closet and handed me a silk button-up night shirt and shorts. Welp, I guess this way I would be able to get my hair and makeup done and not worry about smudging it. Slipping them on, he put on gym shorts and a tank.
“What are you doing today?” I asked, looking at his clothes.
“We are making some last-minute adjustments to the stage. People are decorating and setting it up. Just trying to be prepared for anything that may happen,” he said shrugging.
“Thank you for always taking care of me!” I said honestly. I went up to him and gave him a kiss and a hug.
“Of course. I always will.” We heard the bedroom door open. “I think Kelly and the gang are here to make you look beautified.”
“Beautified?” I said laughing. Who talks like that?
“Well, you already are beautiful, so it’s not like makeup will change anything,” Wyatt said, rolling his eyes. Well played sir, well played.
“Well, thanks!”
“Are you decent?” Kelly yelled from outside the bathroom.
“Yes!” I yelled as she came around the corner. She was wearing something similar to me.
“Oh, good. You are showered. They are getting up makeup and hair stations in the living room. Come on out!”
We followed her out and there were indeed five people setting up vanities for our hair and makeup.
“Us, both moms, and Brooke are getting our hair and makeup done. It will be a party up in here!” Kelly sang.
Right on cue, everyone came into the room and also had movies, popcorn, chocolate, and champagne with flutes. It was a party.
“All right, ladies! Who is going first?” One of the helpers asked.
“Nina, why don’t you go first with hair, and we will do your makeup last, so it is fresh?” Autumn stated in a questioning tone but there wasn’t room for argument.
“Sure!” I said, sitting down on one of the vanities. Autumn handed me a flute of champagne, and the girl started blow drying my hair. My dress was strapless, which ended up being perfect for the branding. However, I still wanted to look and feel like myself. “Can we do a dressier version of my side braid?”
“Of course!” she said.
“What is your name?” I asked the girl as she ran her fingers threw my hair.
“Carol!” she said smiling. She looked to be around fifteen or sixteen years old.
“Nice to meet you, Carol!” She smiled at me but didn’t respond. She was nervous. I didn’t need to be able to feel her emotions with her hands shaking, and she kept shifting her weight.
“Nina, are you worried about the branding?” Brooke asked as she was sitting on the couch. The room went silent, and Autumn was glaring.
“Not really. It will be over soon enough and will heal,” I said matter-of-factly.
“I mean, I would be. It is red-hot metal that just came out of a fire that will be placed on your skin. You will feel your skin fry and smell burnt flesh!” Brooke said dramatically.
“Brooke, did you forget that I was tortured for three days not that long ago? I have endured worse,” I said firmly. She opened her mouth to speak again but I interrupted her. “Enough,” I said without yelling, without force, just sampling speaking. She shut her mouth and didn’t try to push the subject again. Everyone was looking around like, ‘What do we do now?’
“So, what movie are we going to watch?” I asked the room, trying to change the subject.
“We have The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants or 50 First Dates?”
“Oh, 50 First Dates, please!?” Kelly said looking at me. I laughed and nodded, agreeing to it, and the room became friendly again.
“Before you start, can I use the restroom?” I asked Carol.
“Of course! You don’t have to ask me that!” she said, looking half shocked, half appreciative.
I know I didn’t have to, but it was polite, and I would continue to be polite. Walking to the bathroom, I forgot to pee when Wyatt was brooding. As I went to sit down, I saw the toilet paper was empty. So, I went to the vanity and opened the door. Right next to the toilet paper were tampons. I stared at them for a few seconds before I realized… I missed my period this month. Only a few days, but I was never late.
Holy fucking shit!! Looking around, I found a pregnancy test behind the tampons and pulled one out. No time like the present to figure this out, I guess. Reading the directions, I peed on the stick and put the cap back on and set it on the counter. Finishing up and washing my hands, I realized I was shaking. Was I nervous? Fuck yes, I was. Was I scared? Not really. Wyatt already expressed his desire to be a dad, but I wanted to wait a little. Not too surprised though as we hadn’t used protection, so it was not like this would be a shock.
Slowly, I turned the test so I could see the lines. There were two pink lines. I was pregnant. My heart started racing, and I just stared at the lines, double and triple checking that it was a positive test, and it was. Holy shit!
“Nina, are you okay? Why are your emotions all over the place?” Wyatt asked via the mind-link.
Shit, what was I going to say? I couldn’t tell him over the link! “Yeah, just a big day is all!” I tried to play it off.
“Okay, love you!”
“Love you,” I said and cut the link.
“Raven?”
“It will be okay. The little boy will handle what is happening today.”
“Boy?”
“Yes, I know it is a boy. He is sweet and loves you already.”
I placed my hand over my belly and rubbed it. I loved him already, too.
“He will also protect you today when something happens.”
“When?” I asked, shocked.
“Yes, when. He will protect you.”
“Care to share anything else?” I asked, slightly annoyed.
“I can’t. Things need to happen the way they are supposed to happen.”
“Not helpful.”
Raven chuckled at me but stopped replying.
Knock, knock, knock! “Nina are you okay?” Autumn asked from outside the door.
Oh, fuck! I quickly hid the test deep into the vanity. Okay, got to play this out. I opened the door quickly. “Yes! Sorry, I was talking to Wyatt and lost track of time!” I half lied.
Thankfully, Autumn bought it and guided me out and back to the vanity.
“He will have everything under control!” Autumn said and handed me my flute. Um, I couldn’t drink this now! I looked at the flute like it was poison.
“I am so jealous. You guys get to drink, and I am the only person here who can’t!” Kelly whined.
AH, my moment! “You know what, I will not drink today also! I will be sober with you, and we can do it together!” I said, smiling triumphantly.
“You don’t have to do that!” Kelly said, half happy, half sad.
“I WANT to!” I insisted and set the flute down, smiling.
Carol smiled at me and was still super nervous, so I pushed some calm and confidence to her. She kind of gave me a sideways look, trying to figure out if that was me or not, but I didn’t give anything away. She preceded to do my hair perfectly. She curled it, swooping it to the right side, since the braiding was on my left. She did leave out some pieces to frame my face and made the braid larger by pulling out pieces. I was pretty sure she emptied the can of hairspray. Using bobby pins, she finished the style with white and green flowers and jewels. I knew I would have a crown on but I hadn’t seen it yet, so this should work with whatever style it was.
“I love it!” I told Carol, and I meant it.
