Chapter 94
Chapter 94
I hardly slept at all these last few nights. Today I would become queen. Today my life would change, and everyone would look towards me for answers. I had been so nervous that I hadn’t been able to get comfortable and had made myself throw up a few times. Wyatt kept nagging me that I needed to eat, but food just hadn’t been settling right. This day needed to get over with so my life could get to a normalcy!
Deciding I was done rolling around, I looked up. The clock read 5:45 a.m. Screw it, shower it is then. Frustrated, I got to the shower and turned it on hot. Slipping in, I let the water run over my muscles, and relaxing smells of lavender filled the room. Wyatt had put some in the shower yesterday because he heard it would help me relax.
Today, the people doing the ceremony were coming and tomorrow it would happen. Wyatt said they would have a meeting today about how it would work and what I should expect for during the ceremony and after the ceremony. Even though I would get to choose how things were ran, I would be taking all the advice I could get.
Grant was out of the hospital and wanted to walk me down the aisle. I mean, this wasn’t a wedding and it’s not like we were close. I told him I appreciated it, but I felt like walking myself would be appropriate. I think I really hurt his feelings because he got mad and walked away. Kelly thought it wouldn’t hurt having him walk me because he did sacrifice his life for me, and it wasn’t like he had a choice to not be in my life. Reed and Wyatt were a little more on my side but didn’t really have an opinion on the matter. They both felt like it was my choice to make and respected it.
A draft of cold air hit me, making goosebumps cover my skin. I tried to sink deeper under the hot water to escape the air. Wyatt finally stepped into the shower with me.
“You okay?”
“Yeah, just couldn’t sleep. Figured I might as well try to relax in the shower,” I said as I shrugged.
“Everything will be okay. I got word late last night that they started building our palace. Once this is done, and we decide the fates of the men in the cells, we will have a smooth and relaxing time.”
I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
“Honestly, when we organized the world-wide takedown, most of the rogues were killed or imprisoned, so there had been a low number of rogue attacks,” Wyatt assured me. He grabbed the shampoo bottle and put some on his hand. He turned me around and began to massage my hair. “We will get through this together.”
I just sighed as he washed my hair and body. Nothing was sexual about it, just purely him trying to pamper me and make me feel relaxed and calm. He quickly washed himself, and we got out of the shower. Wyatt handed me a towel, and we dried off.
“I picked out an outfit for you today. You don’t have to wear it, but I thought it would look nice,” Wyatt said, looking uncomfortable. He kind of spit those words out. He was nervous, I realized.
“I am sure I would love to wear it,” I said confidently. I walked to the closet, and he indeed had picked up clothes for me. It was a very sophisticated dress. A royal blue dress with long sleeves, V-neckline, and stopped just below my knees.
“Obviously, you don’t have to wear that all day. Just for the meeting that is at 11:00 a.m. I have arranged for you to get a massage and facial this morning at 7:30 a.m. The suit I am wearing is right here and will match perfectly. And yes, Kelly will be joining in on this pamper day. She is the one who suggested it and organized it.”
“How in the hell does she do all of this?” I asked shocked. This girl had a gift.
“I honestly don’t know. She is born for this.” Wyatt shook his head.
“We honestly need to find a good title for them and make sure they have a senior position.”
“I know, I have been thinking about it, too.”
Wyatt just handed me a robe since I would be getting undressed for the massage anyway. We made our way out to the living area, and he started the coffee.
Suddenly, the bedroom door burst open, and a flustered Kelly ran in. “Oh, thank the Moon Goddess you are awake! I was scared I was going to have to drag you out of bed!”
Wyatt had lifted an eyebrow at her. “What if we were fucking on the bed and you interrupted us?”
Kelly looked taken aback for a second before glaring at her brother. “Well, you guys better be fucking a lot because I want my kid to have a cousin to grow up with! Hurry up already!” Looking at me, she said, “I need to shower, and I will be back. HE,” Kelly said, violently pointed at Wyatt, “told you it was my idea for the spa day? He didn’t take the credit?”
“HAHAHA, yes, he told me.”
“GOOD,” she shouted and turned around to leave, slamming the door shut on her way out.
“Good luck with that today…” Wyatt said, handing me a cup of coffee.
“Yeah, well, when I get pregnant, I better not have those mood swings.”
“Speaking of which, when will we have kids?” Wyatt said with a sparkle in his eye.
I snorted into my coffee. I was slowly acquiring the taste. “Not for a while. Besides, it’s not like we have been careful.”
“You could be pregnant right now!” Wyatt exclaimed.
“Better not be! Not until all this is over and our palace is built.”
“That is what grandmas and grandpas are for! Babysitting!”
“My concern is if the child will have my abilities and how we will control them. More so, how will I have the time to focus on my kid with all these responsibilities?” I said, stating the obvious. “I barely have control!”
“You have more control than you think. Have some faith in yourself!”
“I have faith I will go gray before I am thirty!” I said smiling, but I leaned back and got comfy on the couch.
“You will always be beautiful to me!”
I smiled but rolled my eyes. I loved his cheesy lines, but they were quite cheesy.
“I might as well get a start on my day. It is already 6:45 and the spa people will be here shortly to get up in here. Have a good morning!”
Four hours later…
“Come on, our Nina!” Kelly sang. I just got dressed in the dress Wyatt picked out for me. It really did fit me like a glove. I think this would be the worst part about all of this. Always having to get dolled up. I looked longingly at my T-shirts hanging up. What I wouldn’t give to get in them!
Kelly did a neutral look on my face and a messy bun with my hair. I did look like what you pictured a woman of royal status to look like. I just didn’t feel like it.
“NINA! I will come in there and get you myself!” Kelly threatened. Sighing, I walked out of the closet and into the room with the moms and a couple of workers. Kelly was standing by the front door, stomping her foot impatiently. She had on a more flowy dress that you would think of for a bridesmaid gown and it stopped just above her knee. Her belly was really starting to round out.
“Oh, Nina! You look stunning!” Autumn said as she ran forward and hugged me. “Everything will go perfectly!”
“I hope so! I am ready now!” I said to Kelly, giving her a teasing smile that she didn’t appreciate. “How are those mood swings?”
“I don’t have mood swings! You people need to stop pissing me off!”
All of us in the room widened our eyes and looked away. Okay, Kelly, whatever you say! I grabbed the door and opened it for us to leave. I grabbed her arm, and we walked out into the hall and started towards the conference room.
“Seriously, girl, get your emotions in check! You cannot go off on these men!” I warned her but nicely.
“I know, it is just so hard!” Kelly looked like she was going to cry.
“NO, stop that! None of that! You can do it. Just sit beside Reed and keep yourself together. You can do this!”
“You’re right! I can, I am an Evens, and I will make my family proud!”
“Good girl,” I said as we turned the corner. Reed and Wyatt were standing there waiting for us as I said that.
“Is she being a bad girl?” Reed asked, lifting an eyebrow at her. Something felt sexual about that.
“Um, not here!” I scolded Reed. He didn’t even look ashamed as he pulled her close and gave her a hug. “Keep her emotions under control. She is a loose cannon!” I warned him.
“I will pull you out of there so fast if you cause any issues,” Reed warned. “This is bigger than us.”
Kelly looked like she was going to cry again, so I opened the door and pushed relaxing emotions and calm towards her. She swayed on her feet but didn’t question it.
“I felt that,” Wyatt whispered in my ear.
I looked at him in confusion. “You can?”
“I feel extra emotions through you when you open doors and can tell what you are doing. Kind of like how you watch a kid have a temper tantrum. I can see it, but it doesn’t affect me. I can feel what you are doing through the bond, but it doesn’t affect my body at all.”
“Interesting…”
“Ready?” Reed asked, pulling us out of our conversation.
I got déjà vu as this was the same room I entered to have a meeting with the councilmen. Wyatt must have sensed my mood change. “This is not like the time before, this will be a happy visit.”
“Shit, I am sorry, Nina! I didn’t even realize!” Reed chastised himself.
“It’s okay, I got it.” I took a couple breaths and plastered on my game face my dad instilled in me. I gave Reed a blank nod and he opened the door.
