A friendly gesture

Melissa's POV

I walked out of the building and into the fields. To my surprise, the fields were filled with more maids than expected. I couldn't help but frown my eyebrows at this as I wonder if there is any special event going on.

"Excuse me" I said as I stopped a nearby maid. Quickly , she walked towards where I stood, bowed her head in respect as she dared not to look at my face.

"You called me" she muttered, her voice so faint that I could notice the nervousness in her voice.

This is the first time I am seeing her face and with the look of things, clearly, she isn't used to carrying out instructions from me.

"Is anything special going on today?" I asked to watch her.

"Yes Ma'am, today is trade day so we have a lot of people from different packs coming to our kingdom to trade" she replied to my surprise.

I wasn't expecting this since it wasn't mentioned in the meeting earlier today.

"Alright but…" I paused scanning around as I had no idea where the training ground was. "Do you know where the training ground is?" I asked, still looking at her.

This time, she gazed at me, "Yes, it's by the left side of this royal building" she replied.

"Alright, thanks" I quickly turned around to the direction she pointed at.

As I walked closer, I noticed that there was no one passing through that route. Confused, I walked on further, my eyes flickered around as I wondered if I heard the girl wrong.

"She said left not right" I muttered to myself as I walked on deeper, my eyes still scanning around.

The more I wandered, the more desolated the path was. I never knew that the royal building had such a hidden part and at the same time, I wonder why the training ground must be so hidden and hard to figure out.

"Are you lost?" I heard a familiar voice ask behind me.

I turned around and to my surprise, a few feet away from where I stood was no one else but Viviana who stared at me with a smile on her face.

Confused, I wondered what she was doing here at the same time and wasn't she supposed to be in her room with Nelson.

"What do you want?" I was clearly not in the mood to make pleasantries with her. I need to get to Conri and that's the only thing on my mind right now.

She smiled, not in a mischievous way like she used to, this time, the smile was that of a little child, sweet and very friendly.

"You don't have to be so cold towards me Melissa, I am just here to help" she responded very nicely, her blue eyes radiating with so much splendor as she couldn't stop smiling.

"I don't have time for your jokes right now Viviana neither am I cold towards you" I uttered, turned away from her but to my surprise, the whole place felt different and very strange in a few that I didn't like at all.

I heard a soft laugh from behind.

"It's clear that you are lost Melissa. Won't it be best for you to tell me where you want to head to and i will be so ready to help you find your way" I heard her say, so charming that it puzzled me.

"I don't need your help" I bluntly replied.

"Do you think so?" She asked but I didn't turn to look at her. Instead, I narrowed my gaze as I bit my lower lip trying so hard to act like I am not lost when it's so clear that I need help finding my way.

"Come on Melissa, I am here to help, you don't have to be so harsh on yourself"

This time around, I felt something weird around me. This is strange and really unlikely because of her behavior. I know how much she detest me. Why is she acting so nice towards me like I mean something to her?

This time, I averted my gaze at her with a Stern look on my face, a soft breeze blew around us shoving our hair into different directions, our eyes locked together.

"What do you want?"

A surprise look shone on her face.

"What do you mean by that question Melissa, I don't understand" she calmly replied.

"Don't act like you don't hear what I say!." I fired bluntly. "What exactly do you want from me and where did all these sudden kindness of yours come from because we both know that you hate me!"

She let out a soft laugh, a friendly smile not leaving her face.

"Hate you? No, I don't hate you Melissa. Come on, hate is such a strong word and even if we are not from the same breed, clearly you are human and I am a werewolf but that doesn't mean that I will hate you"

I folded my arms as I stared at her with a raised brow. I could feel within my veins that she wants something and whatever she seeks, I won't give it to her.

"I don't have time for this Viviana. I have somewhere to go and it will be a lot better if you let me be. Moreover…" I paused scanning around, "Were you following me?"

Her eyes shone in disbelief, "Follow you? Why on Earth would I do such a thing?"

"I don't know! You tell me! I don't understand how you are exactly at the same place I am. I fail to believe that this is nothing but coincidence, of course it's not!" I emphasized

To my surprise, Viviana still held into her sweet smile, "You don't have to be so rash around me all the time Melissa. This is nothing but a coincidence, I have no reason to follow you, never! I won't do such a thing. The honest truth is that…" she took some steps towards me but I walked backwards not wanting her to come near me at all.

"Melissa," she said softly, "Aren't you tired of our endless fights and misunderstanding?" She asked, staring deeply into my eyes, "All I want from you is for us to settle our differences, I am ready to do anything you want me to do, anything that will make you see that I am here for peace, not violence. I am not here to cause any trouble neither am I here to say harsh words at you, this is nothing but the truth"

Deep surprise held me strongly, there is indeed something fishy about this sudden change of hers. This is not genuine, I can feel it deep inside that she must be really up to something but I can't place my mind on what it is.

"What do you mean by us settling our differences?" I raised a brow watching her keenly.

"Well…what I mean is that we should forget about the past and make way for something new"

I raised a brow giving her a Stern look.

Viviana sighed deeply and took some steps closer to where I stood, "All I am saying is that I want us to be friends. Let's put our differences aside and make way for something beautiful. We don't have to write all the time neither should we carry on hate that we didn't cause ourselves. I have come to respect the decision of the moon goddess of giving Nelson to you and not me. This was what I was trying to let you know before but it appeared like I was making no sense out of my words…."

To my surprise, she held my right hand,a friendly smile on her face, "I really want us to be friends Melissa, let us deal with our hate and open another new chapter for a friendship with admirable people. This is from my heart Melissa, I know now that Nelson had come to the agreement of loving you, the rumors had gone viral in the pack, and he came to my room not long ago to tell me that he loves you. Indeed, Nelson has moved on so who am I not to?" She asked rhetorically.

Gently, I glanced at her hands clung to mine and looked at her face, her eyes had unspoken words that I couldn't assert.
