Melissa's POV
"Argh!" I cried out, my eyes flung open as I sat up on the bed, my eyes scanning around as I breathed heavily.
The door of the room burst open and Anabelle rushed in.
"Melissa" she let out coming towards me as the fear in my eyes was so obvious, my lips trembled greatly.
Anabelle held my hand only for her to stand in shock, "You are freezing!" She shouted I'm disbelief, immediately, she took the blanket next to me and wrapped it around me as I shivered with trembling lips.
"Why are you so cold Melissa?" Anabelle inquired really confused.
"When I left a minute ago, you were alright only for me to hear your scream down the hallway which had me rushing back in." Concern was buried in her voice as she spoke.
I glanced up at her but at that moment, all I could see was the face of the woman at the river staring right back at me.
"Melissa, are you alright?" Anabelle quickly asked.
I came back into reality and shook my head not saying a word, my lips still trembling really hard.
"Do you need tea?" She asked
I shook my head in disagreement.
"But you are so cold Melissa, I am scared for you right now" a frown with worry plastered greatly on her face.
Gently, I gazed at her, the words of the woman kept ringing through my head.
"My father," I muttered in a whisper.
Anabelle appeared more confused, "Your father?"
I looked away, I have to compose myself and not let her have an idea that something is really wrong with me.
"Don't mind my words, I just…I don't know what's happening to me" I let out very worried.
Anabelle sat close to me, she held my hand which was as cold as ice.
"Whatever you are passing through, you won't pass through that shit alone. We will come to an end of this together, I assure you this" she said with a fierce look in her eyes.
Of course, she has absolutely no idea what I am talking about and the deep mess I have found myself into. My life is being threatened at the moment and now, it is said that my father does know something due to the strange events that have been happening to me all this while.
"What happened to me? How did I find myself here?" I asked Anabelle.
She adjusted herself and let out a deep sigh, "You were found lifeless in the library. It was already dark and we were worried because you were nowhere to be found only for Nelson to realize that the library key was missing since it wasn't in the position you do keep it. Thank goodness we were able to retrieve the spare key from Conri. The door of the library opened only to find you lying on the floor with a body as hot as fire" her forehead squeezed as she narrated.
"As fire?" I asked not dating to take my eyes off her.
Anabelle nodded, "Yes Melissa, when you were found, we wondered what must have happened to you. The windows in the library were wide open so we couldn't understand why you were so hot. At that point, I have never seen my brother so worried in his life, not caring how high your body temperature was, he carried you in his arms and placed you here on his bed"
Surprised, the exchange of words I and Nelson had that day flashed through my mind and I found it hard to believe that a man who spoke to me with such deceit appeared like a superhero in my absence.
I frowned at her words.
"I care less about your brother and I want to know for how long have I been asleep?"
"Two days"
I stare in shock.
"Two days!" I exclaimed filled with disbelief.
Anabelle nodded.
"No way! It can't be. It felt like I was asleep for hours, how can it be two days?"
She shrugged her shoulders at me, "I have absolutely no idea Melissa. You were asleep for forty eight hours making us really scared as none of us could suggest what might have happened to you"
Of course, I couldn't disclose what happened, not yet. I don't understand this changes myself so it will be so impossible to give an explanation to something I have absolutely no idea of"
I shook my head, "I have no idea either. I just…" I paused thinking really hard for the right words to say, "I just felt weak and tired. Before I realized it, I fell to the floor passing out"
A soft smile appeared on Anabelle's lips, "The whole ordeal of you helping my brother back in the woods must have had a great effect on you. I really do understand this. You need rest okay, I am sure that you will be fine within a few days" she noted very assuring.
Although I was physically present with Anabelle, emotionally, I wasn't. My head was filled up, so full with the woods of the lady.
I can't keep this to myself
If indeed my father does have an answer to my questions, then I must meet up with him and get the answers out of him.
But how?
How is it possible for me to leave the pack for days without Nelson knowing about it?
I don't even know my way back to the human world, how am I going to do this.
The door of the room opened,I looked up only to find Nelson who walked in. Our eyes locked together and I could feel my heart leap at his sight.
"She is finally awake brother" Anabelle said smiling.
There was no sign of friendliness on Nelson's face, instead, he frowned, hardly watching me like I am a prisoner about to escape.
"Of course I can see that" he muttered hard, his sharp eyes not leaving me.
I looked away without saying a word.
Anabelle on her feet.
"I have to leave now" she announced looking at me.
Not wanting her too, I held her hand, "Stay, I still need to talk to you"
Anabelle smiled, she stroke the back of my hand gently with her thumb, "You can calm me later, my brother is here now and I have yo respect you both privacy" she raised a brow, her lips still stretched into a smile and without waiting for me to utter a word, she walked away leaving I and Nelson who stared at each other strongly.
