Nelson's POV
I head out of the pack and into the woods, the sun shone brightly making it easy for me to find my way through.
The words of Conri and Tinox kept ringing in my head but I didn't care. It's too late heading back into the pack and getting my guards ready. I must do this alone without any problem, this problem concerning the traitor has to be solved and I won't go back on my words for this.
Soon, I found myself walking through a lonely path deep in the woods. The sound of the birds chirped loudly making the atmosphere really odd but I had my mind fixed on the path, I must get to the crossroad as soon as possible, I don't want to waste any time, yes I mustn't.
Phoenix growls loudly inside of me.
"Are you sure you are doing the right thing?" He asked, his voice rang out inside of me as I took more steps heading deep into the woods.
My eyes flickered as I scanned around, my gaze falling off trees I walked past by.
"What other choice do I have Phoenix?" I replied with a question, "I am well assured that I am risking my life for the safety of the pack. I won't sit back and watch one of my subjects take me as a fool, no way will I let that happen"
Phoenix growls again, this time, softly than the first time. "I can see that you are very strong headed towards this Nelson"
"If I am not,who else can be?"
I shrugged as I passed through another path, the heat of the sun became more intense and I could feel beads of sweat forming on my forehead.
"You are one big fool Nelson!" Phoenix countered aggressively.
"I am not!"
"Yes you are! You are in your human form at the moment, you don't expect yourself to defeat a pack of werewolves, don't be foolish!" He growls loudly this time.
"I am doing this for my pack, how many times do I have to point this out?" I Implored, angry this time.
"No Nelson! You aren't doing this for the purpose of your pack, instead, you are doing this for the glory in case you get back to the pack alive. What are you trying to prove? That you are smart enough to outsmart more wolves? Or do you think I will be able to defeat them in a battle? Come on, don't be dumb! This is something you should have thought twice before embarking on. I stayed quiet seeing your Beta and Gamma inform you on going alone but you insisted? Why? Do you have any valid reason to back this? No Nelson! You don't!"
I shook my head at his words,"But it's too late to turn back now, you know I can't"
At first, Phoenix didn't utter a word.
"You don't want to speak up anymore?" I inquired as the sound of my feet stampering on dery leaves echoed loudly in the woods.
"What exactly do you want me to say? You just put both you and I at risk and I don't have a choice but to come out in case you might be attacked. We wolves are fast enough to detect the presence of another, you know this,so how the hell do you think that they won't be able to detect your presence?"
At that point, Phoenix's question struck me really hard. At first, I didn't think twice about this in particular. He is right, our sharp nostrils can grasp even the slightest smell.
"I will be far away from the crossroad, they won't see me"
"I hope so because right now, you dund dumb, you are not my owner I know you for" Phoenix countered.
"You don't have to say such words…" I paused looking up, "We are almost there, the road is clearer now"
Saying this, I hear further not wanting to back down, I have started this already and I must end it, there is no point going back on it.
More minutes went by and soon,I found myself a few feet away from the crossroad. I stood still next to a tree, there was no one there yet and I knew deep inside that they were yet to come.
"Do you see anyone?"
"No one at all," I replied, my eyes still scanning the area.
I walked behind the tree but had my eyes still fixed on the cross road, the woods were as quiet as ever and all I could hear was my breathing.
I glanced at the tree right in front of me, it was as green as ever, with my hands caressing it. I breathed in deeply and decided that this is the best way for me to hide out, I must not be foolish enough to blow away my cover.
An hour went by but still no sign of anyone present, confused, I stood waiting patiently and at the same time, I couldn't help but feel that indeed, something is really wrong somewhere.
A few more hours passed by and still no sign of anyone. At hat point, I begin to doubt the words of my me but I know that they just can't make up something drastic as this, no way
I scanned around and still no one.
"It's best we head back to the pack" Phoenix spoke out
"No way, I just can't" I disagreed strongly.
"There is something strange here,I can feel it Nelson" Phoenix growls with deep.anger growing from within.
I shook my head. Indeed, I could feel that something weird was going on but I still couldn't pinpoint what it was. Everything doesn't seem good to me.
"You are right Phoenix, something strange is indeed about to happen and I won't leave here without finding out what it is"
"Come on Nelson, this isn't the time to act foolish"
"This isn't about foolishness Phoenix, I won't leave here without getting to know what the hell is going on"
Immediately, I heard voices heading towards a direction not far away from the crossroad.
Immediately, I hid behind the tree, my eyes fixed on the direction as the voices came closer but there was no sign of anyone yet.
"I can feel it, someone is here" I whispered so low to the point that I could barely hear myself.
"This is a bad idea Nelson, we have to leave right now!" Phoenix growls.
I shook my head in disagreement, my eyes not leaving the direction the voice came from.
"No Phoenix, it's too late to back out now, I am going to sort this out right now"
The voices came closer, I narrowed my gaze and I couldn't help but notice my heart leap at the sound of footsteps. I couldn't place why, but deep nervousness filled my veins making it very unbearable for me to face it.
As the voices drew closer, so did the footsteps and soon enough, four men came out of the woods. To my surprise, they had a hood over their head to prevent their face from being seen.
Confused,I stood still watching them as they stayed so close to each other muttering done words that I found very hard to grasp.
"What more Information do you have for us?" I heard a man speak, he had his eyes fixed on a tall figure with a hood over his head.
I didn't utter a word but watched the whole ordeal with deep curiosity as to what might happen next.
The tall figure walked closer to the men, the woods were so quiet that I could hear my own breathing.
"I was informed that we might be late for the ordeal" the figure spoke out in a voice that I couldn't recognize. Fine, it will be difficult for me to know the voices of all my subjects but no matter how hard I tried to see his face, the hood over his head made it very impossible for me.
"Late for the ordeal?"
"What do you mean by that?" Another man asked as they all stood still not aware of my presence.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps next to me, a sharp scent filled my nostrils making the hairs on my body stand. At that point,I needed no one to tell me that I was already surrounded by a being.
"It's too late now Nelson" I heard Phoenix utter inside of me as the blood in my veins ran so aggressively.
A soft chuckle escaped so close to me, "We meet again Prince Nelson, what do you feel about this? '' the voice spoke out and at that point, I knew exactly who the person was.
At that point, I knew I needed help,I turned around only to find more men walking towards my direction, I was already trapped, deep anger began to rise inside of me.
"Conri" I muttered trying to mindlink with him but before I could utter another word, I felt a sharp pain strike my chest so hard and thick liquid rolled out of my mouth. Before I could transform, I suddenly felt great weakness subduing me so strong that I staggered backwards, my gaze fixed on the men surrounding me.
"You will regret this" I spoke out and at once, I fell to the ground, deep darkness overwhelmed me whole.
