24. Jealousy Ignited - Emotions
The woman found herself ensnared in his grasp, unable to break free. The pull of attraction and desire she felt towards him was more intense than she had ever imagined. A mixture of frustration and longing welled up inside her, manifesting in a muttered curse as her eyes locked onto his.
"Damn it, Paul, let go of me," she grumbled, her voice a low growl of frustration. Her gaze remained locked on his, a silent challenge in her eyes.
A smug smile played across Paul's lips as he moved his fingers to her mouth, his touch eliciting a jolt of anticipation. He had yearned to taste those lips, to feel their softness against his. "You're not going anywhere," he stated confidently, his fingers brushing against her lips, igniting a tingling sensation that sent shivers down her spine.
His grip on her waist tightened as he began to sway with her in a slow, seductive dance. Ellen's resistance began to waver as her body responded to his movements, her fingers finding their way to his back, a subtle surrender to the magnetic pull between them. The rhythm of the music seemed to synchronize their steps, and Ellen's feet moved of their own accord, seemingly guided by an invisible force.
Raising her gaze, Ellen met his intense stare. His deep brown eyes bore into her, his face possessing a delicate handsomeness that complemented his full, expressive lips. She was acutely aware of where his gaze lingered, and a surge of irritation prompted her to speak out.
"You pervert," she hissed, her anger rising. "I'm not the same as that woman you were practically groping at the table." Paul's eyes never left hers, the amusement dancing within them unmissable. He chuckled at her accusation, seemingly delighted by her jealousy. "Oh, my darling, no need to be jealous," he taunted, his amusement evident in his voice. "You're much more interesting when you're angry."
Ellen's retort was swift, a defensive shield against the emotions bubbling within her. "I'm not jealous. We're not anything, not even friends," she asserted, averting her gaze but unable to break the hold of their dance.
Paul's demeanor shifted, his playful expression giving way to a more serious demeanor. His laughter ceased as he looked at her with a newfound earnestness. "I'm glad you came," he admitted, a hint of gratitude in his tone. "Thanks to you, I managed to escape from that woman who was practically latched onto me."
His gaze held hers, his sincerity palpable. "It's not just for show," he continued, his voice softening. "I didn't want any of that to happen, Ellen. From the moment this party started, all I wanted was to be with you."
Ellen could sense the authenticity in his words, a mixture of emotions swirling within her. Despite her lingering anger, a flicker of belief ignited within her. She nodded in acknowledgment, silently acknowledging his explanation even as she wrestled with her emotions.
As the music continued to play, Petro observed the unfolding interaction with a contented grin, curious to see where their connection would lead. Paul's hand grazed Ellen's face in a tender caress, every touch imbued with an electric charge. She closed her eyes momentarily, relishing in the sensations his touch ignited. The closeness between them intensified, their noses almost touching, their connection deepening.
In a hushed whisper, he shared his desire with her. "I long to taste your lips, to savor your essence, Ellen. You have no idea how much."
Before the moment could fully transpire, a voice cut through the charged atmosphere. Ellen turned away, breaking the connection as her friend's voice reached her ears. Paul opened his eyes, a sheepish grin tugging at his lips, his embarrassment thinly veiled.
Phil's gaze shifted between them, his playful demeanor evident. Ellen was drawn away by her friend, creating a slight distance between her and Paul. Sarah's comical lament about impending discomfort prompted a sympathetic hug from Ellen, who understood all too well the hardships of those days.
Empathy flowed between the friends, their bond strengthening as they shared a moment of understanding. Ellen's emotions shifted as she contemplated her friend's situation, a desire to support Sarah overriding any other concerns.
With a heartfelt embrace, Sarah assured Ellen that she could stay. "You're having fun with the handsome guy over there," she quipped, her voice filled with playful encouragement. "Don't forget to call me when you're back, though. I want us to be together tonight."
The two friends bid their farewells, Sarah hurrying away, leaving Ellen with a mixture of emotions. Ellen's initial intention was to stay, but the pull of friendship was strong, prompting her decision to join her friend later.
Approaching the twins, Ellen spoke with a touch of gruffness. "I'm going to grab something to eat and be back soon. Sarah's not feeling well, and I don't want to leave her alone for too long."
Both Paul and Phil nodded in understanding, offering their support without hesitation. Phil offered to accompany her to the food table, a warm smile directed her way. Ellen accepted the gesture, and together they made their way toward the table, leaving Paul momentarily behind.
Paul ruffled his hair, a sense of contentment settling over him. He yearned for more time with Ellen, but the brief dance they had shared had been worth it. As he walked back to his table, thoughts of her lingered, a promise of future interactions hanging in the air.
