Chapter 219 I had no Choice

Renee took out her mobile phone, "Don't bother. I photographed him. I will send you the photo now. You can send it to group chats and ask whether someone recognizes him."

The director really admired Renee for this.

She even managed to take a picture of the man during such an emergent moment?

What a girl!

It was fortunate that Renee could present such solid evidence. Otherwise, many people would suspect that the whole trouble was deliberately formulated by Renee herself and that Renee wanted to show how capable she was.

But since Renee had taken photos of the criminal who happened to possess very distinctive eyebrows and eyes, clearly this wasn't some deliberate show made by Renee.

If someone managed to find out the criminal who then confessed it was Renee behind all this, Renee would suffer more losses.

The director was very efficient and sent the picture to working groups in apps, asking whether someone knew this criminal.

Many members in the crew immediately answered no.

However, several people said that the person in the picture looked a little familiar and seemed like to be the new staff working in the props group. Since the man in the photo wore a mask and the picture wasn't in high definition, they didn't dare to confirm and required a confirming with the person.

They basically had an answer.

The director let the person say out the name straightaway. Also, the director asked them to immediately look for the person in the crew. They should hold the person under control and inform him immediately.

Although it might alarm the criminal and let him run away if they directly look for him in the crew.

On the other hand, those who worked in the crew had all been recorded with their identity information. They might be able to run away from the crew, but it was not difficult to track them. Thus, the director was not worried about failure in finding the person.

Soon someone told the director that they found the person by coincidence when they were smoking at the back door. At that time that person was about to sneak out when they found him.

The director complimented them and quickly came over with Renee.

When the person saw Renee, he became emotional instantly and struggled intensively to run away.

Renee knew this was the guy by just looking at him acting like this. If this person was not the one who tampered with the wooden plate, why did he get so emotional and want to run.

Renee questioned, "Tell me, why did you do it? Who told you to do it?"

Hearing this, the guy uttered a bah and cursed angrily, "No one instructed me. I get so annoyed seeing you all day long acting and performing in the crew!"

This guy was protecting his money man. Even though he was caught right on the spot, he was still protecting the man who paid him.

Maybe that money man paid him handsomely. Otherwise, where did this loyalty come from?

Renee then answered, "Fine. If you say so. You get annoyed seeing me so."

Renee was a decent citizen with good conduct, and she wouldn't do the torturing and confessing stuff.

Still, there were ways to crush a man's mind without applying harsh torturing.

Renee stopped for a moment.

She then continued, "But you have to make it clear that you deliberately manipulated the stage, which almost caused accidents during the show and injuries to our performers. This is not a minor crime. For this you will be noted with a criminal record and sent to the detention center."

"Once you leave a record, it's impossible for your future children and grandchildren to apply for positions on public service. Your behavior alone will harm three generations. Are you sure you will not regret it?"

Hearing this, the man was shocked. It seemed he was thinking whether he would regret for the consequences.

Afterwards, Renee said, "In the future, when your children and grandchildren have met all requirements for such a public position and still get denied during review process, just because of what you have done. Do you think they will not hate you?"

The man looked he was more painful.

He was scared by what Renee had said.

The man asked, "Well, so you say. If I tell you who made me do this, will you directly let me go without sending me to the police?"

He didn't believe he could leave all these behind safely if he told they who was behind it.

Renee glanced at the director nearby and waited for his decision.

After all, it was the director who was leading the crew with full authority. She definitely couldn't make decisions for the director, as it would be improper.

The director noticed Renee was looking at him and realized Renee wanted him to answer this. He then said directly, "As long as you honestly tell us who is behind this and provide corresponding evidence, I can let you walk away from your responsibility."

The director added, "Since I won't ask you to bear the responsibility, naturally you can walk away from this safely."

Hearing this, the man rolled his eyes and seemed to be thinking the credibility of the words.

...

Renee then directly said, "Our director is a man of his word. Now we have around seven or eight people here, it will harm his reputation if he doesn't deliver his promise. You do not need to worry that he may lie to you."

After hearing this, the man had an emotional breakdown and squatted down on the ground, crying.

The man confessed, "I didn't want this either. I don't want to ruin my work after working here. I don't want to earn money in this bad way. It's just, I really have no choice. My daughter is still in the hospital waiting for money to save her life. I have no choice."

Seeing him crying, Renee felt sorry for him.

After all, just as the saying went that a miserable person must also have done something awful.

When he was in such a trouble, he could have asked someone in the circle to kindly ask around and advertise this for him to collect money. Soon he could raise the money to pay for the debt.

Yet, he chose the most foolish way to earn money. Was he foolish?

"Stop crying. Tell us, who told you to do this?" Renee asked coldly.

The man was sobbing.

He spoke without consistency in sentence, "I... I don't know... The man contacted me by texting... The money is also directly transferred to my card. I have not seen him, only his mobile phone number..."

Renee frowned.

Damn it. If they only contacted each other with phone, it would be difficult to find out who was behind this.

Anyone who still had some sense wouldn't use their really registered phone number to do it. It was very likely this contact number was a virtual number or an off-the-record card. It was basically impossible to find the identity of the person from this number.

Although they knew they couldn't find out anything just with the phone number, they still took a note of the number and took pictures of the text messages as evidence.

Although the director said that he wouldn't ask the man to bear the responsibility, he wouldn't keep the man in the crew either. No one wanted to make trouble for himself.

Seeing the man was so frustrated and frightened, Renee reminded, "If you still need money for the treatment, you can launch a crowdfunding. Let some good colleagues in the circle to help publicize it, and the possibility of raising enough money is still very high."

She was not being sympathetic. She just though leaving a ray of chance for him would also be leaving chance for the future encountering.

If people like him who was desperate and hadn't been able to find chances, they might do something terrible in the future. It would be better if she helped him now.

In this way, at least this person would still remember her kindness to his sabotage in later days. Then he might not help others to do something bad for her. She was thinking for her own life in the future. So she was not being sympathetic.
