Chapter 105. Old Obsession

**105\. Old Obsession**

***Third Person's POV***

“Helen?” Travis and Sabrina exclaimed in unison, their voices filled with equal parts shock and confusion.

Travis couldn’t comprehend why Helen was there. He had come expecting only John, yet Helen’s presence threw him completely off guard.

“Yes, who else were you expecting?” Helen asked, her gaze bouncing between the two, a smug smile on her face.

“Certainly not you,” Sabrina snapped, her voice laced with disdain.

Helen let out a mocking laugh. “Of course not. After all, I’ve outplayed both of you in this game of yours.”

Sabrina’s irritation flared. “You’re nothing but a backstabbing coward. If you’re so confident, untie me and let’s settle this one-on-one.”

Helen tilted her head, amused by the challenge. Her eyes flicked to Travis. “Wow, she’s not at all how you described her, Travis. I thought she’d be some meek, clueless little thing. But look at her—standing up to me like she’s got nothing to lose.”

“She’s everything you’ll never be,” Travis growled.

Helen’s expression darkened, her amusement giving way to anger. “You’ve always had so much faith in her. Why, Travis? Why couldn’t you ever see me? I tried so hard to get your attention, but you never even gave me a second glance.”

Travis and Sabrina exchanged confused glances. What was she talking about? Travis had never viewed Helen as anything more than a business associate.

“What exactly are you saying?” Sabrina asked, her voice calm but edged with curiosity.

Helen’s lips twisted into a bitter smile. “Oh, don’t pretend you don’t know. You both think I’m just now interested in Travis, but I’ve been wanting him for years.”

Travis frowned, the weight of her words pressing against his mind. “What are you talking about, Helen?”

Helen stepped closer, her voice venomous. “You don’t remember me, do you? The quiet nerd in your class with the thick glasses? The girl everyone ignored?”

Travis strained his memory but came up blank. “I don’t—”

“Of course you don’t,” Helen spat. “You were too busy chasing after that slut, Denissa.”

Her words hung in the air like a bomb. Both Travis and Sabrina erupted at once.

“How dare you speak her name with that filthy mouth!” Travis bellowed.

“You’re the one who’s shameless! Don’t you dare talk about her like that!” Sabrina shouted, her voice trembling with fury.

Helen smirked, clearly enjoying the chaos she’d stirred. “Wow, you two make quite the team now, don’t you?”

Travis’s mind raced. How did Helen know so much about Denissa? How did she even know her name?

“How do you know about Den?” Travis demanded, his voice low but threatening.

Helen’s smirk widened into a grin that was both smug and unhinged. “Oh, Travis, I know everything. I know how hard you worked to get her attention. But that little b*tch stole everything from me—my fame, my power, and you.”

Sabrina and Travis were stunned into silence, struggling to process the venomous words spilling from Helen’s mouth.

“I was the queen before Denissa came along. I had everyone wrapped around my finger. Boys threw themselves at my feet. But then she showed up and stole it all. Suddenly, I was invisible. I didn’t get the credit I deserved.” Helen’s voice rose with each word, her bitterness pouring out.

“None of that was Den’s fault!” Travis snapped. “She didn’t even care about all that attention. You could’ve had all the boys you wanted.”

Helen’s eyes glinted with madness. “You don’t get it. Even when she ignored them, they still wanted her. And then you—you were the final straw. I wanted you, Travis, but you were just like the rest. You only had eyes for her.”

Her voice cracked, and she laughed, a sound that sent chills down Sabrina’s spine. “So, when you married her, I decided to get my revenge. I couldn’t let her win.”

Travis’s heart sank as Helen’s next words sliced through the air like a blade.

“I killed her,” Helen said, her grin widening into a menacing smile. “And it felt so damn good.”

“So it was you all along,” Travis said, his voice cracking with emotion. “Why? Why would you kill her?”

Helen’s smile twisted into something dark and triumphant. “Oh, Travis, you think I acted alone? No, I had help—someone else shared in the pleasure of taking Denissa down.”

“Who?” Sabrina demanded, her voice sharp and unwavering.

Helen raised a brow, clearly savoring the moment. “You’ll find out soon enough. But first, let me finish what I started.” She leaned in slightly, her eyes gleaming with malice. “Do you really want to know what happened next?”

Sabrina hesitated. Part of her didn’t want to hear any more, but her curiosity—and the need to understand—won out.

“Of course, you do,” Helen sneered. “So, after I killed that little saint Denissa, I turned my attention to her daughter. Oh, yes, I knew Travis had a child. I thought I might take a liking to her, but those damned emerald eyes—Denissa’s eyes—mocked me at every turn.”

Travis clenched his fists, his breathing ragged, but he stayed silent as Helen continued.

“So, I devised a plan. I began investing in Travis’s company, buying up stock bit by bit. My family was loaded, and my uncles were more than willing to help me. Soon, I controlled the majority of the company’s shares. That’s how Travis got to know me, and from there, I worked my way closer to him. Closer to you,” she said, pointing directly at Sabrina. “You accepted my proposal, Travis, because you needed me. But I had other plans—especially for Wynter.”

Travis and Sabrina stiffened at the mention of Wynter.

“What were you planning for my daughter?” Sabrina snarled, her voice ice-cold.

Helen’s grin widened. “I was going to ship that brat off to an orphanage where she belonged. After all, she lost her mother, so why not lose her father too?” She laughed, the sound grating and cruel. “But, of course, this btch* had to show up and ruin everything.”

She clamped a hand over Sabrina’s mouth, leaning in close. “You. Ruined. Everything. Do you really think I didn’t know about your plans, about how you’d interfere?” She laughed maniacally, her grip tightening.

“How dare you even consider putting my daughter in an orphanage!” Sabrina growled, yanking her face away from Helen’s hand.

Helen’s eyes flashed with venom. “Of course, you’d side with her. After all, it was Wynter who found you that day, wasn’t it?”

“Yes, and we should all thank Wynter for saving us from you!” Sabrina shot back, her voice filled with defiance.

Helen’s smile faded, replaced by pure malice. “Thank her? If you get the chance, you can thank her in the afterlife because I’ll make sure neither of you survives this.”

“You’re nothing but a coward,” Sabrina taunted. “You’ll kill us while we’re restrained? How brave of you.”

Travis’s head shot up. “Sab, no!” he protested, his voice urgent.

But Sabrina ignored him. She locked eyes with Travis, mouthing, Trust me.

Though reluctant, Travis gave a small nod, his heart heavy with worry.

Sabrina flexed her wrists, the raw skin stinging as Helen untied her bindings. She took a moment to regain her composure before rising to her feet.

Helen wasted no time. She lunged at Sabrina, her face twisted with rage, but Sabrina sidestepped quickly, causing Helen to stumble and fall face-first onto the floor.

A smirk spread across Sabrina’s lips. “You’re going to have to do better than that,” she taunted.

Helen scrambled to her feet, her fury growing with every second. She charged again, throwing wild punches, but Sabrina dodged each one with ease, waiting for the right moment. Helen’s breathing grew heavier as she tired herself out.

Sabrina seized the opportunity. With a powerful flying kick, she struck Helen square in the face, sending her staggering backward. Before Helen could recover, Sabrina tackled her to the ground, pinning her down.

“You called my daughter names?” Sabrina hissed, her voice low and deadly. She struck Helen across the face, the sharp crack echoing through the room.

“This is for trying to send her away,” Sabrina snarled, landing another blow.

“And this,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion, “is for Denissa. For thinking you could destroy her legacy.” She slapped Helen again and again, her strikes fueled by years of pain and rage.

Travis watched in stunned silence. He’d known Sabrina was strong, but seeing her like this—fierce, unrelenting—took his breath away.

Helen’s laughter, so confident moments ago, was now replaced by panicked cries.

Even as Helen tried to push Sabrina away, she couldn’t move an inch. Sabrina’s grip was firm, her determination unyielding.

From his chair, Travis watched the scene with a mix of awe and nervous amusement. Note to self: never get on Sabrina’s bad side, he thought, chuckling softly at his own musings.

But the situation quickly turned dire.

“Sab, that’s enough!” Travis called out, his voice urgent. “Leave her, or she’ll die! I don’t want you winding up in jail because of her.”

Sabrina didn’t flinch. Her eyes burned with fury as she kept pummeling Helen, her strikes relentless.

Then, the room was pierced by a deafening gunshot.

Sabrina froze mid-strike, her heart plummeting. Slowly, she turned, her blood running cold at the sight before her.

Travis lay on the ground, motionless, a growing pool of blood staining his shirt. Standing behind him was a man with a gun, his face twisted into a cruel smirk.

“No! No, no, no!” Sabrina screamed, shoving Helen off her and rushing to Travis’s side.

She dropped to her knees, her hands trembling as she cradled his face. “Nio, wake up!” she pleaded, her voice cracking. “Nothing can happen to you, do you hear me? You’re going to be fine!”

But Travis didn’t move.

Tears streamed down her face as she pressed her hands against his wound, trying desperately to stop the bleeding. “Stay with me,” she whispered.

A cruel laugh pulled her attention away. Sabrina turned, her tear-filled eyes blazing with fury.

“Who the hell are you?” she demanded, her voice shaking with both anger and grief.

The man stepped forward, lowering his gun slightly as he regarded her with mock amusement. “Oh, forgive me for not introducing myself sooner,” he said, his tone dripping with condescension. “The name’s John Oreans. Does that ring a bell?”

Sabrina’s breath caught as the name struck a chord deep in her memory.

John’s smirk widened. “Ah, there it is. Recognition,” he taunted. “You see, I have some business with you too. But first, let’s make sure dear Travis stays out of the way permanently.”
