Chapter 74 CHAPTER 74

Chapter 74 CHAPTER 74
“I have something I think you should read instead,” Zade said, changing the topic and the atmosphere immediately.

“Oh? What is that?”

“It's about your changing anatomy as Dragon kin. You were once suppressed and now your body is changing. I felt you would want to know everything that's happening to your body.”

“Oh this is so thoughtful,” I breathed, looking at the book.

It was thick, colourful and very necessary.

“You can take it home with you.”

“But you don't let books leave the library,” I said, concerned.

“Well, I've come to realise that I'll do anything for you, even when you don't ask. You need it so keep it.”

“Zade…” I melted.

“I'm sorry I'm not capable of making your experience in here any better. I'm still going to cut off the fingers of everyone who tries to hurt you but I should do more. I need to find a way to –”

“I'm fine Zade,” I stopped his rambling.

It was so adorable how much he was bothered about me.

And then my brain pointed out that information I'd nearly skipped over.

“You cut whose fingers?!”

“He hurt you. What did he expect? To go scot-free?”

“But that's how it's been. I asked. I'm not sure why he's not tried to kidnap me yet but I heard that's what happens when people report on children of high-profile councilmen.”

It felt so freeing talking to him about my bullies

Or maybe the butterflies in my stomach were loosening my tongue and I would regret this later.

“Why would you think that? Is that what has been happening? Draco is failing at his job then.”

“No he's not,” I jumped in defence of the Principal, “he's only able to do so much. I was told to keep quiet or there'll be consequences. I mean, after you beat him up, he sent others to try to hurt me. Imagine you weren't into me, I would have probably died now because you found out about it.”

“Well, I'm more than into you,” he whispered, his voice going lower, “and I swear to break every single person that tries to hurt you. Starting from whoever is responsible for these bandages on you.”

“Well, I don't think you can hurt this one in return. Besides, he's just following the King's instructions. I wish he'd sent a less hostile doctor.”

“Wait, a doctor did this to you? Are we in the dark ages? What did he need it for?”

“Tests and more tests. They're desperate to find out where I'm from.”

“Do you want to find out as well?”

“Nope. I grew up in an orphanage until I was adopted. I may have been a child but I saw what that hope did to people. I don't want any part of it. I'm grown now and I don't need to reconnect with anyone who was comfortable throwing me into another planet without caring how I fare.”

“Was that how you got that scar?”

“The scars on my skin are actually like the best parts. I got this when I escaped a crazy scientist who actually chased me into this place by the way. It's the scars on my mind that're indelible and I might hold the resentment for a while.”

“I won't let you wallow in that. Just give me a list of whoever has hurt you and I'll go take care of it.”

“On earth?” I perked up.

“With the King's permission, I'm sure a portal can be opened. Although he'll demand for me to get back to the war front and force me to climb another dragon. Tharagaun insists I do that but I fear it won't work.”

“So for him to let you out there, you have to risk your life on the battlefield?”

“I'll find a way around it. Just give me the names.”

“Naa,” I shook my head and proceeded to stand up, “you are not sacrificing that much for me. I'm going to head back in since what I came for is already destroyed.”

“You are leaving?” He sounded like a broken puppy.

“I didn't even know you were here all this time.”

“I wasn't. My sister was sick from a leech bite and I had to go give her some of my blood.”

“A leech?”

“It's one of the Faes ways of tormenting us in our own lands so we'll be forced to let them in. It burrows into your mind, fills it with misery and only one powerful or your memories have way too much pain will it lose. Else, once it locks you in that portal between our world and theirs, there's no escaping.”

“Shut, how's she doing?”

“She's alive and getting better. I just feel terrible, she's the only one keeping the entire family together and I don't want anything to happen to her.”

My heart caved in.

I pulled him close and hugged him tight.

At first, it felt so warm and emotional, hugging him so tight our breathing began syncing.

But then he inhaled my neck and I did the same.

“My heat isn't completely gone,” he groaned in my neck, “you probably should go now before it comes again and blinds my senses.”

“You don't want to have anything to do with me?” I asked, hurt.

“What? Of course –”

“You're making it feel like the heat is forcing you to want me when you actually don't.”

“How can you… let me show you exactly how badly I need you, Alira.”

He pulled back, lifted me to his lap and cupped my neck, pulled me onto his chest and kissed me.

It felt right.

It felt peaceful.

It felt like I was with the right man, like I chose the right one out of all that drove me crazy.

But as he deepened the kiss and my imagination began filling my head with the two of them touching me while the third watched with that irritated face he always had on when he wasn't making fun of me, I knew something was wrong with me.

Deeply, concerning.

I ignored it though, it's just an imagination afterall.

A perfect, protective and beautiful man is kissing me and with the way my pussy was gushing, we might make love right on the couch he got built specifically for me.

I focused on that rather than my straying thoughts and my other problems.

Maybe an orgasm is what I needed to get rid of my dilemma.
