Chapter 55 CHAPTER 55
How did he know?
“How did you –”
“I've seen all the books you've been reading, seen you blinking your eyes, same thing you believe brought you down here.”
“You had no right –”
“– You'd rather run away from your own world, the Kingdom that houses your dragon, and run off to another world, intentionally, just to save some stupid boys who should face the pain of my fist!”
“And what happens after that?!” I screamed, everything coming together to my forehead at once.
“What do you mean?”
“Tell me Principal Draco, are you going to monitor me every day, every second, even when I leave this place? How do you plan to save me from the ridicule of constantly being saved by the Principal? How do you plan to make me less hated than I am now if you fall on everyone that hurts me like an angel of vengeance? Will you kill the boy? Or his powerful parents? Or the king that endorses their power?”
“What are you talking about Alira? I'm the Principal here, if I can't protect you, who else will?”
“I don't want your protection! I just want to be left alone by you and everyone! I don't want to be liked or hated. Back on earth, I was a literal wallflower and I prefer that to being pointed at by everyone and targeted for my own weakness!”
“You should tell him who did it dear, he can do something to stop it and if it doesn't stop, I'll get them expelled.”
Two of them blowing hot and cold was driving me crazy and not in a way I would like. I hate being out of control like this.
“Thanks Zade but I don't like violence and I'd rather just go back home.”
“But this is your home,” I turned to the Principal who sounded broken.
“I had a home once. She's dead. I only belong to myself now and I would really like it if you just let me know how that portal works so I can go back. Please.”
“I will never let you leave!”
“You talk like I'm asking you for permission. Sir.”
He was infuriated but his face was blank, terrifying.
Hot.
We stood staring at each other, me in defiance and him giving me that look that made me shiver inside.
His skin, ebony and well moisturized was mostly covered by clothes that would otherwise be too hot for the climate but the Principal didn't play by anyone's rules, not even nature. His face though was visible and the only movement on it was his eyes roaming all over me, making me conscious of every inch he hyper-focused on, a tick in his jaw the only tell of the anger he was feeling.
“Like I said Alira,” the Principal growled, his voice low, deep, “Keep up that bratty attitude, and I'll punish you so much you'll spew every secret in that head of yours.”
He slammed the words in my face and then turned around and disappeared into his shadows.
I didn't even know he could do that, which means he rides on Styx for a different reason.
But as I watched the spot he stood before, my heart was in shambles.
But my pussy was a river of excitement and need.
Confused Alira was back.
“Come on, let's get your feet off the ground,” Zade said, taking me towards the back, our hands held together.
“Why aren't you angry at me as well?” my voice was strange but I ignored it, hopefully he will too.
“Because I understand you. I am running too and he came here to try to pull me back to the war front.”
“But your dragon is…”
Dead.
“They want me to bond with another dragon but I can't betray my Tharagaun. He sacrificed his life for me.”
“I’m sorry you lost him, he sounds like a powerful dragon. But then, aren't you scared that hiding is hurting his memories? I mean, he probably did what he did so you could live however you want. Except war sickens you as much as it does to me but you shouldn't waste his sacrifice.”
“You sound so much like Draco,” he chuckled as he carried me off the ground as though it was the most natural thing in the world, “but I don't think I can bond with another. If they die because of my incompetence again, I'll…”
I pulled him into a tight hug and I smiled as he sighed, relaxing into me.
“We're going to be great friends,” I laughed as I pulled back, “we’re both traumatized deeply.”
“We're friends?”
“You don't want to be my friend?” I asked, looking into his stormy eyes and nearly getting lost in them.
“Of course I want that. I've always wanted a friend.”
“Then you're welcome to be mine. I don't feel sleepy anymore, I should go back to my reading.”
“I can read to you if you want?”
My stomach made a strange noise, not too loud, not from hunger.
“It's a war strategy book Zade,” I chuckled shyly, “not the best bedtime storybook.”
“We're dragon kin, war is a part of our life even when we don't have enemies.”
“When was the last time that happened?”
“A few years before I was born,” he replied, pulling the book from my side, his body bending across mine, so close that I inhaled his scent thicker than I ever have.
Intoxicating.
“You have lived in war all your life?”
“Well, I've been away from that for some time now. I wish I could get out there and help but… I'm needed here as well,” he whispered the last part out, knowing as much as I did that he was lying to himself.
“Read to me,” I whispered, snuggling closer to him.
“As you wish Sunshine,” he smiled, a full-blown, beautiful smile that had the butterflies in my stomach develop iron wings. “Settle properly,” he said, pulling me in between his legs so I could see what he was reading.
My legs parted on their own and my breath became shallow, heat pooled in my lower belly, and I suddenly could hear my blood pumping in my veins.
“The war between the Dragons and the thieves of Yanria was the first time a kingdom in the Planet of Sataria decided it wanted what the gods gave to us.”
His voice was a deep rumble behind me, saturating my body, lighting every nerve ending, lighting me on fire. Hardening my nipples. Moistening my pussy.
I couldn't see the words again, all I focused on were his words and trying to stop myself from moving my body against his.
“The ability to attack perfection in any chosen field was limited to just one. But we mastered magic, dragons, and logic, something no other could boast of and this pushed the Yanrians into a frenzy, but our ancestors massacred them, leaving only a handful alive as a reminder to other species that we're not to be messed with. The last time a kingdom dared to try and hurt us, it was the Faes of Avelindor and their attempt to ruin the Kingdom that allowed them to live and thrive amongst us forced our King to shove them out of our world, building a border to keep them out.”
“Wait, they used to live amongst us?” My voice carried across the room, louder than it should be but hiding something worse asked.
“Yes. Their dragons depend on our land to feed. They're alive till date because of some sympathisers on our side who take feeds to the other side.”
“That's… treason.”
“That's why we have so many executions.”
“I should go to the hostel,” I cleared my throat again.
“Already?”
“I've been here for a while. My roommates have questions, I can tell.”
“Questions about what? What did you do wrong?”
“Spending time here. With you.”
His frown made me whimper a bit.
I hated upsetting him with every fiber of my being.
“What's wrong with that?”
“They'll think… we're a thing?”
“But we're not, are we?”
“N–”
“Do you want us to be? Can we give them a genuine reason to be upset?”
“Zade?”
“I know it's just been days since you walked in here but I feel something I can't resist for you. Can you feel it too?”
My lips parted, and my nervous system shut down.
I could feel my hands shaking, memories jumbling up and that entire year of horror disguised as marriage threw itself in the forefront of my head.
“I've got to go,” I whispered quickly and jumped out of his hold.
