Chapter 139 CHAPTER 139

Chapter 139 CHAPTER 139
I turned away, wiping a stray tear from my eyes as I headed towards the book.

My eyes found the window and I had already calculated the drop and the pain and the healing.

It'll be a quick escape, our car was parked there.

By the time they realise I'm gone, I will be far, far away from this small town.

I planned to ditch the car somewhere to throw Baldwin off my trail and –

A scream ripped out of my throat as someone clung to my feet and pulled.

I looked down to rip it off and I screamed louder as I realised it's Zade's tail.

My hands grabbed the book, trying to clean off the blood but his pull was strong, I didn't even know the tail had healed properly.

“Zade! Leave me alone!” I yelled in desperation, all the memories from Drakkonia pouring into my head.

I always took the pain stride but for the first time in a while, I had enemies I was stronger than.

I escaped Baldwin by my own strength not some divine intervention.

The feeling of helplessness, of just waiting until someone successfully killed me didn't exist here yet he was pulling me back.

All attempts to get the book were destroyed as the door slammed open at the same moment Zade's hands replaced his tail.

He's stronger than I am.

He pulled me off the book and down onto the portal, my vision swarming with darkness.

The journey down was long and painful, and anger built in my chest as I realised that the book was now going to be in Baldwin's hands.

My blood still on it.

I was only able to clean a bit of it.

The ground seemed so far away and I feared we'd gone into another world by mistake. I’d imagined Drakkonia, the suns, the hot air that felt like drinking cold water after a long time in the desert, the dragons with their magic and my other two men.

Even if some other planet has the other elements, it didn't have Principal Draco and Florian.

So it's either the power of my bloodline didn't make it to my veins or –

“Oomph!” Air rushed out of my lungs as the darkness suddenly cleared and we were hurtling towards solid, academy grounds.

“Shit,” I heard Zade's voice and he immediately turned us around, so he could take the impact again.

Before I could refuse, he slammed into the ground.

Hard.

His groan followed as dust coated my eyes and mouth.

I didn't care that he'd just saved me from a painful fall, I was livid.

The second I was off him, I was screaming.

“Why did you pull me down!”

“Ah, come on baby, help me up,” he muttered.

I took a deep breath, clarity poking its head through the cloud of rage I could barely control.

My hands were shaking as I pulled him back up.

I stood still as his bones realigned.

Our bodies were sucking in the change in environment greedily, and I noticed my air was cleaner despite my enraged eyes

“Well?” I snapped, my hand fisted.

As if I could hurt the large man.

“Come on baby, don't tell me you're seriously angry I pulled you in. What was your plan? To let that lunatic capture you?”

“Of course not! He's human. I would have been fine. But no, at the end of the day, you still showed me you're selfish and don't actually care about me. You just wanted to see Earth and since it failed your inspection, you rush down here as if this realm has not taken more from you than anyone else.”

“Alira…” he growled, his eyes changing bi I didn't care.

“My family's book is in that bastard's hands! We suffered for nights on end because I refused to teach him how it works and now you've handed it over to him, activated! Do you know what he could do with it? A scientist without morals is the cause of so many evils on earth and you e just handed the universe to someone who wanted to kill us.”

“Alira,” a foreign voice startled me and I paused, recognising it.

The emotions behind my name being called like that washed over me.

“Draco,” Zade grunted.

“Nice of you to come back. Did you forget something?” The Principal snapped.

“I'm sorry –”

“I don't care for your excuses Zade. You've proven my friendship means nothing to you and I'm done trying to reach out to you. Follow me Alira.”

“We just got back, at least let her rest.”

“Don't you dare pretend you care about her more than anyone else. You wouldn't have taken her to a planet that literally sucked her chi dry and left her to die as a child!”

“It's not his fault, I begged him to take me,” I cut in.

“You begged me too, but I said no. He should have said the same thing knowing that you're better off here.”

“But am I?”

“Get on the fucking Steed, Alira. You have no right to mouth off at me. Not after what you have done.”

Ugh.

This damn steed rides again.

I wasn't prepared for it, not with all the emotions running through my body.

“I'll walk,” I tried, knowing the man was already at his wits' end and wouldn't listen.

“And cause a stir in my school? You've done enough of that already. Get in. Zade, your house was destroyed. I'm not apologising for that, you deserve it but meet my assistant. He'll assign you a new one.”

“Thank you and I'm really sorry about all of this. I just wanted to keep my woman safe, stealing the book was inevitable.”

“Get on the Steed Alira, don't make me ask again!” He snapped at me, ignoring Zade.

I looked at him one last time before getting on Styx.

In the front.

I lay on her neck as she jogged around a new erection that I didn't understand.

“What are you guys building here?” I asked, my voice calmer.

“The Trial begins in eight days. You're just in time to participate.”

Shoot me now.
