Chapter 125 CHAPTER 125

Chapter 125 CHAPTER 125
I'm hell, I'm the one who lost nearly every scrap of control in my bones.

I'd been frustrated for the last three days, struggling to find a way for it all to make sense in my head.

In other words, I was brimming with bad energy, threatening to spill, and this bastard just pushed me over the edge.

I didn't hold back, didn't care that there was no Eruwan to heal him, he wasn't a dragon kin either and couldn't heal quickly or in a few days.

I was aware he might die from the violence I was metting out to him and his friends but they fucking asked for it.

They saw me beating their stronger friend to shit and didn't have the brilliant idea to run or get help, they decided to join.

I've been climbing mountains, swimming for hours and strength training for three months, eating clean and training to near death with Florian.

None of them were a match.

Tired of bloodying my fists, I pulled the tray, not paying attention to the drinks pouring, I hit shorty with the pan, it broke in two, I scarred tall and opinionated from the neck down to his back.

“Alira!” I heard a voice yelling repeatedly but he was smart enough to stay away from me.

When I punched beefy once more and he fell forward, nearly knocking me down, I slowed down.

“ALIRA!”

I turned around, breathing heavily as I watched Rico stare at me like I was a monster.

Maybe I am.

And these idiots provoked me.

I shouldn't lose my job for defending myself but I've not been away from earth for too long.

Rico's eyes already sacked me before his mouth did.

I didn't even let him finish.

“It's fine, I'm leaving already.”

Without food, without payment, and no plan for the future.

By the time I got home, I was holding back tears.

I nearly smiled when I saw that Zade had reformed the house but then I remembered my failure and my head fell.

He would be expecting me to come back with something, we'd not eaten anything all day and I didn't bring anything home.

I opened the door and I was close to tears but my nose picked up something and it turned to confusion.

“Zade?” I called, walking into the house and taking off my shoes.

I saw the blood on them and pushed them away from the door.

Those bastards have ruined my only good footwear.

“Out back!” I heard his reply and I rushed to the back yard.

“Wait, what are doing?”

“The neighbour said it's a barbecue. He went to get something called a beer?”

“Neighbour?” My eyes widened.

“Yes, I told them I'm your… husband?”

“That's the right word yes, but why are you talking to people Zade? What if they figure us out?”

“I'm sorry baby, he offered food and I remembered you hadn't eaten anything before you left.”

I sighed, and pulled him into a hug.

“I'm sorry I'm putting you through all of this.”

“Hush, don't do that thing you do, taking the weight of the world on your small shoulders.”

“My shoulders are anything but small,” I protested.

“Yea sure, half of mine but if you insist.”

I smiled a little, feeling relieved a bit.

At least we won't go to bed hungry tonight.

But that relief only stopped halfway.

Zade was interacting with people, literally going against our plan.

What made me think I could control someone so large?

If anything happens to him… if someone reports him to the government, they'll punish him for simply existing.

Right as he was finishing with the steak he was cooking, Mr. Rowland walked in with a pack of beers.

“Alira,” he greeted, “it's been ages since I saw you.”

“Yea, I traveled,” I sighed, preparing for a night of lies.

“And you came back with this handsome man. Where'd you find him, a Viking convention?”

“Something like that. How's your wife and children?”

“The wife left. Apparently my dick is too small for her. Don't know why she didn't realize that before getting pregnant and trapping me in that horrible marriage in the first place.”

Oops.

“I'm sure you're having fun now,” I say as Zade served me.

“Yess, I do whatever I want. I'm telling Zade here to enjoy himself, married or not. We only have a short amount of time to live in this world.”

And there he goes, reminding me of another problem.

We won't age as quickly as everyone else.

We'd have to move at least five times, change identities or something before we die.

A problem for a future Alira, the night was good, minus the butt hurt man who won't admit he misses his wife.

Zade indulged him, advising him over and over again but I tuned them out.

None of the applications I put out has gotten back to me so I don't really know if applying more was the next best thing to do.

I thought about going back to real estate, but I feared my former boss won't be too keen on taking me back.

Even if he did, knowing that asshole, he'd punish me for a while first before allowing a dime into my account.

I stood up.

“You're turning in?” Our neighbour asked, his voice carrying a little sad tone in it.

“Yes. You should too, it's already late.”

“I'll come over in the morning,” he said, not asking, telling.

I looked at Zade, he shrugged and I ignored them.

If he wanted to tell him about Drakkonia to quell the man's loneliness, that's his call.

More job applications needed to be sent out.

At this point, I'll take cleaning jobs.

Anything.

I took the laptop upstairs while Zade brought the remaining meat into the kitchen.

Mr. Rowland might be a weirdo but he's generous. Maybe he won't be a bad idea to keep around until we stabilise.

I went into the room and was instantly irritated.

We'd thrashed the room completely.

So I set to work.

“You must let me help this time, I'm not useless you know?”

I chuckled.

“That's the wardrobe, arrange our clothes in there.”

He pulled out the things from our Drakkonia luggage and arranged everything while I cleaned the rest of the room.

“I'm done,” he announced happily and I breathed.

“I'm done too. The problem is how the hell we're gonna shower.”

“Oh.”

I was overthinking when I looked up and something reflected in the moonlight.

“What is that?”

“Drakkonian gold. I wanted to compare the minerals to –”

“Can we sell it?”

“What?”

“It'll keep us stable until I find a job Zade. I'll buy it back afterwards I promise.”

He looked at me and thought about it.

Zade literally left his planet and followed me, moved from the library to a house for me, created this portal for me…

So his hesitation made me feel concerned.

“It's okay. There's many more back home anyway.”

Home.

Such a strange word that meant he didn't see Earth as a permanent base.

But one step at a time Alira.
