Chapter 50 50
I felt like I had just woken up from the dead when I rose. I slept for so long, and I loved how relieved I was, because I hadn't had a nice sleep for days.
When I sat up from the floor, I was stunned to still see Dragon Sovereign watching me from the top. He wore a dirty smirk that made me regret ever waking up to meet someone as deadly as he was. But, didn't he have some other thing to do? How could he stay here all through?
“Tell me, Vina. Do you get haunted by the ghosts here?” he asked, wanting me to speak, but I tried so much to ignore him. “If you don't answer me, then I'm going to release all these ghosts to haunt you while I leave.”
My brows drew together.
I glanced around, yet saw no one.
“Who said you can see those ghosts with those ordinary eyes of yours?” his voice came again, and I pressed my lips together. “Now answer my question…”
I sighed and wiped my lips, then stood up. “If they did haunt me, what are you going to do with them? Send them to the afterlife when you're the one who caused their death? You shouldn't be here by now…”
He flitted towards me, and I rather raised my head high.
Unfortunately, he had taught me never to be too scared of him.
“Shouldn't you be happy that I protected you all through your sleep, and you slept that long and peacefully? I created those sweet dreams for you, and when you weren't ready to return to earth, I made them disappear.” His lips moved constantly. He closed the distance between us, causing my face to twist in frustration. “When are you ending your engagement with the human male?”
I knitted my brows, my expression showing how irritated I was. If not for the sake of the human's life, I wouldn't dare do that. “I already ended it in my mind, but that doesn't mean you own me in any way. I am Davina, and you are Dragon Sovereign. If you want to possess a woman's genitals, then go to your betrothed.” I said to his face and twitched away.
I intended to resume the cleaning, only to realise how clean the floor was.
My eyes widened in shock. Who did it?
I walked around the vast room, and there was no stain of blood on the ground. I gripped my dress, squeezing it.
Could he have done it while I was sleeping? How did I forget that he could use his powers to get it done so quickly?
I slowly turned around so I could meet with him, but he suddenly vanished from the room without even sparing me a glance. “Dragon Sovereign, why did you leave suddenly? You have to come back so I can talk to you…”
My eyes darted from one corner of the room to another, and he wasn't hanging around.
What if he was pissed by what I just said? He shouldn't be irritated, because I was actually telling the truth.
But why did he have to do this after all my harsh words on him?
I felt so bad for what I had just done and wanted to apologise. He was now making me feel guilty when he was actually the one who started all this.
I pictured how pitiful he would look when I mentioned his betrothed, whom he hadn't ever loved. I hadn't set my eyes on Irian for some time now, and I hoped she was at least okay.
“Dragon Sovereign,” I mentioned, my chest becoming so heavy, and I wanted to cry it all out. “You shouldn't have done this. I still hate you, so you shouldn't have helped me.”
I was just standing in the middle of the room when the first two guards that came initially returned. As they approached, I knew why they came.
“His Sovereignty has ordered that we take you out.”
I glanced at the materials I used for the cleaning, “What of those?”
“Don't worry about them and follow us.”
I nodded, without any strength, and followed them as we left the room.
Along the way, I insisted I wanted to see my brother, and so they should take me to the shadow prison where he was. And without objecting, as though they had been told to grant any of my requests, they teleported me to the place.
We stood before a huge cleared space, which had no house that I could see. I was confused and asked one of them, “How is this a prison?”
“It's underground…”
I nodded, my lips hung open. “So, how am I going to see him?”
“A Dreadwing General would show up to grant your request if it's acceptable. Otherwise, you have to leave because overstaying here would warrant a penalty,” the man at my left answered.
I took a deep gulp, hoping that they would let me see him.
Soon, a masculine voice asked behind us, “What can we do for you all?”
I turned around quickly and got to my knees, my head lowered, "I'm begging you to please let me see my brother. He's a fae and is in the shadow prison.”
There was silence for some time, until he responded, “He is not to be seen until Dragon Sovereign orders so.”
With the wind that slammed my body, I knew the man already left. I burst into tears and stood up, and since there was no way the Ember Knights could help, I simply told them to take me to my master.
I walked in by myself when we arrived, and he was busy playing a chess game all by himself…with a jar of liquor standing beside him.
He didn't care to raise his head once I showed up, and I could tell by how concentrated he was in the game that he was still pissed at me.
I got to where he sat and knelt, tears streaming down my cheeks. “Please, allow me to see my brother. You already got me out, what about him? How long will he stay there?” I kept begging, but he didn't seem to even notice my presence. “I'm pleading to you, Dragon Sovereign.”
When he let go of the chess buttons, he filled the cup beside the jar and emptied it, then resumed what he was doing.
I got so frustrated and didn't know what to do again. I was scared of getting so close to him, so I was some feet away.
“Master, please. Take out my brother so I could see him. I don't want him dead.”
He still ignored me.
“Zaugustus? You wanted my presence…” I heard a female say, and I turned to see Irian standing behind me.
Once our eyes locked, she began taking slow steps towards Dragon Sovereign.
I adjusted backwards, unsure what was going to happen.
She sat beside him, rested her arm on his shoulder, while running his fingers on his beard. “You look so stressed. How much offence has your slave committed? Do you want me to help you punish her?”
“I don't want to visit the pleasure house…” he muttered, not even sparing her a glance. “Thats why I called you over, so you don't get pissed again.”
Irian wore that bright smile for someone who seemed to have gotten back his belongings. She kissed his cheek and continuously caressed his beard down to his chest. “Would you let me submit to you however you want?”
He finally glanced at her, "That's what I want now. Get over to the bed.”
My heart began throbbing. I hated to hear that, talk of watching them. So I quickly stood up, bowed to him and was about to leave…when he ordered me, “A slave doesn't walk out unless her master orders so. Stay behind!”
