Chapter 36 36
IRIAN SHAW.
Just when I thought I might be able to win him over again, I caught them lying together on his bed. He was fast asleep, and I could perceive the smell of alcohol coming from him, which meant that he was drunk. So, what could be the reason he drank himself to stupor that way? And why was the fae lying on the bed with him?
Even when she saw me staring at her, I expected her to quiver and get down from the bed, thereby allowing me to get closer to him, but she stared back at me for some time and lay back beside him.
Before my eyes, he pulled her closer by her waist, causing them to cling to each other while he was still deep asleep. One would think they were lovers; some people would even claim that they fit together, but the hatred and anger I had for both of them, mainly the fae female who showed up from nowhere, would even melt a cold iron.
I couldn't stand the sight of it for so long and teleported out of his chamber. Getting back to my chamber was one thing I knew could make me poison myself, so I decided to get back to the pleasure house where my friends were.
I ordered grilled beef and two jars of liquor, while my friends watched me with shock. I hadn't ever drank so much, and I was going to do it, even if I would utter gibberish in that state.
Once the orders were brought, I binged on them without a break. My heart raced in fear of losing him, my breath hitched several times, and I recalled how that fae female relaxed on his body as though she belonged to him.
She was just a slave and nothing more. How dare she think he had the privilege to stay beside him when he was supposed to be leaking his ass?
“Hey, can't you take it easy? The beef isn't running away. Look how messed up the side of your lips are,” one of them said to me, but I didn't even glance at her. “Did something happen? This is unusual of you. Did your father get you annoyed? Did Dragon Sovereign cancel your marriage with him?”
Upon hearing that last question, I placed back the cup of liquor I held and looked at the lady straight in her eyes. “Do you think he will cancel it? He's been acting so weird, as though he doesn't recall me any longer.”
“There's a possibility that he doesn't. I mean, what do you expect from someone who was caged underground for eight hundred years? You don't expect him to act the same as in the past…” another added, and I heaved a big sigh.
What do they even mean? Don't they understand me any longer?
“Okay, so tell us. Did he tell you to your face that the marriage is cancelled?"
“Dragon Sovereign had never wanted the marriage to happen, even before the dilemma. We all know how much he wants his fated mate to be his queen, and Irian isn't his fated mate. So if he's acting otherwise now, she shouldn't be too shocked, because he told her several times to go ahead with her life, as the marriage might not happen since he doesn't love her.”
My expression chiselled. I glared at the lady who had just said that and craved to tear him apart.
When she noticed how I glared at her, she laughed and folded her arms across her chest.
“What now? Is there a lie in what I said? I honestly told you then to let him be, since he doesn't want you. If he loved you, he wouldn't think twice to make you his queen…and besides, you made it plain that you didn't love him that much but just wanted the queen position. Unless you finally become head over heels for him, but he might not give you a chance even though you two are engaged…” the lady said again, not even scared of how I would react.
She's been that way. When others support me, she talks against me.
Among my friends, she was the only one whose father was a flame lord. The father of the others were ash regents, and so she always competes and challenges me most times.
Although she hadn't ever shown interest in the Dragon Sovereign, she had never once supported that I was engaged with the Dragon Sovereign, because to her, I was taking advantage of his power and didn't truly love him. She reminds me how many men I've gotten fucked by, and how I was still getting around, spreading my legs to get fucked, so the Dragon Sovereign doesn't suit being mine.
I grabbed the cup of liquor again and emptied it, then filled it again.
“You're drinking too much.”
“Let her do what pleases her, even when she knows it wouldn't make him fall for her.”
“So, what exactly did he do this time? Kick you out?” the last lady said, and I turned to her.
I shook my head and answered, “He seems to be fond of the fae female who's his slave, and doesn't give me attention any longer. He avoids staying with me and doesn't think twice about coming up with excuses. He's reminded me again that we can't get married unless he loves me, but then doesn't want me to make him fall for me.”
Tears clouded my vision. I was so heartbroken.
“You won't believe it, but he had a whore suck his cock before my eyes and is even lying on the bed with that slave. How do I stand all this shit? I want to destroy him…” I slammed my palm on the table, drawing the attention of people around.
One of them took my hand and caressed it. “Irian, we both know that no one under this earth can destroy the Sovereign. If it were possible, the faes wouldn't cage him, but kill him instead, so stop overthinking.”
“All you have to do is make sure the fae avoids him. If the fae begins staying away from him, he will also begin disliking her, thereby finding her uncomfortable and not keeping her around. Once it's done, you can take your time to win him back.”
“It won't be easy, so you have to be patient. If you knew what he passed through, sealed under that ground, you would have the word PATIENCE written boldly on your forehead. I also think he's keeping that fae beside him for a reason, so don't act too rashly.”
I took a deep gulp, glanced at the jar of liquor and the grilled beef, then stood up. “I'm going to the castle. I'll draw that fae slave off his bed.”
“Irian, what do you mean?”
I had no time to answer them, but teleported out of the pleasure house. For lying beside my betrothed, I would make sure to beat her to a pulp so she doesn't ever think of doing such a thing. She's so lucky to still have her life, so she is supposed to know her boundaries.
