Chapter 12 012
Until dawn, I couldn't shut my eyes. My tear gland had emptied. I had forgotten how to sob and was just staring at the blank space. I sat there, unable to move, unlike the other times.
That day finally came to an end, and the least I did was drag my butt closer to the tray of meals that had been gotten for me, then began consuming them. If I had my fae powers, I would have healed myself. I wasnt sure if such torture would affect a fae or not, so I was scared of my brother passing through all those.
I emptied each plate on the tray and at least soothed my temper with the meal. I had not taken my bath, and the pain I felt was kinda much for me to even stand.
Ofelia had always mentioned that not closing a bruise helps it heal quickly, or I would tear a part of my dress, then tie my feet with them. It wasn't bleeding any longer, but it still burned like I was still standing on that heated obsidian.
I lay on the floor when I got tired of sitting, my head resting on my right arm while I stared at the wall. I thought, what could the Dragon Sovereign be up to now that I was hurt deeply like this? If I had been a servant to that lady who showed up here, I was certain I would have no business with an introduction. Or was it something I couldn't dodge?
No matter how hard I thought, the pain that ran through my spine made me forget all those and only wish to heal quickly.
I stared at the wall for so long until I dozed off for the first time after the torture. I was so immersed in my dreams when I began feeling someone touching my feet. I peeped but saw no one before me, yet that feeling was still there.
The feeling was a weird one, and each of them seemed to take away the pain from me. From one end to the other, the person kept massaging my feet until I couldn't stand it, but slowly began sitting up.
My eyes grew large in shock when I locked eyes with the purple dragon, and his purple eyes glittered at me, while it still stuck its tongue on my feet.
Was it leaking my bruises or what? If I wasn't mistaken, it was the same dragon as the Sovereign, and was huge enough too. I didn't want to believe my eyes, but even when I sat up, it continued rubbing its tongue on my feet one after the other while I watched it.
Soon, I stopped feeling pain and was so excited about the dragon. I sat up and crawled closer to it, then tried placing my palm on its head when it immediately turned and began crawling out of the cell. I watched every scale it had, the size, and I shook my head. “It can't be the Dragon Sovereign. Why would he leave his chamber just to come heal my bruises by this time? But what other dragon would do this for me?” I mumbled under my breath while touching my feet and not feeling any bruise or pain any longer.
I knew that the gate would lock up once it left the cell, so I rushed forth and held the cell from shutting. I was convinced that it was the Dragon Sovereign, but I still wanted to be sure of myself. With that, I left the cell and tiptoed behind the dragon.
We entered another passageway, and that was where I began seeing guards, but they were all asleep on the floor. I glanced at them, crossed their legs and prayed to the goddess mother that they do not wake up until I returned. I just needed to see where the dragon was heading and to see who it was when it transformed.
Dragon Sovereign was purple, huge and tall like this, but I doubted that he would do that after ordering my punishment.
I followed the dragon for a long walk until we stepped out of the enormous building that one would barely believe was a prison. The compound was so vast, and several buildings were at each corner, but there were no guards that were awake, and the dragon hadn't noticed that I was with it, some feet away.
For heaven's sake, I expected it to transform the moment we left the compound's gate, because I guessed whoever it was didn't want to be caught. Instead, they crawled through another lane, and I stupidly followed it too. It had wings but didn't want to fly, and at some point, I thought that it knew I was behind it.
I shook my head, “It can't know about me, or it would have turned around. Its focus could be not to be caught coming out of the prison compound.” I thought and suddenly paused when I heard the clearing of throat from behind.
Goosebumps covered my skin, and I turned with my heart palpitating, scared that I had been caught, but no one was behind me. When I turned to continue following the dragon, it was nowhere before me any longer.
I darted my eyes around, just to be sure I wasn't dreaming. How could the dragon vanish in just seconds? Even Dragon Sovereign didn't transform that quickly. If it had flown to the sky, I was supposed to see it, so where could it be?
Curiosity stirred in me. It couldn't be that the dragon noticed me behind it. I wasn't up to any harm, just to know who it was that risked coming into the prison just to heal me. Even if it was the Dragon Sovereign, some actions could affect the rule of any ruler, so at least showing gratitude to whoever it happened to be was the only thing I could offer.
I marched forward, unable to speak, so I wouldn't be found. I glanced around, my eyes roaming from one corner to the other. That was when I noticed that I was in a fortress, and then realised why the dragon crawled to this place in the first place.
“But I didn't mean any harm. It knew that I couldn't harm it too.” I muttered and stepped out of my feet again, only to sink. My voice thundered above as I moved my arms around, only to find myself in a huge body of water.
How was it a river, and I didn't know? It was covered in grass, or was it camouflage? That dragon didn't draw me out of here to use as a sacrificial lamb, right?
I didn't know how to swim, and even if I did, the water was too huge and the current too high. I moved my legs, and my arms swung around. I tried to scream when I found myself at the surface of the water, only to swallow a bucket full of water…then pulled down to the floor of the water.
My eyes were shut. I barely breathed, and the only thing that hit my mind was that this could be a trap set to drown me. Dragons have magics like the faes, so there was no way this wouldn't be a trap…and I was surely going to drown because no one would find me.
