Fear

Alexia bit her lips and gritted her teeth in fear as she dropped the phone, "who could be the sender of this message? Nevertheless, her mind crossed Sonita. How pathetic! She was always ready to be on her toes ," Alexia sighed heavily, and turned off the TV.

The whole drama for the day was getting her pissed off; the embarrassment at the villa, insult, the news and then an unknown message from a stranger. She tried so hard not to react harshly or make a careless decision,

“I will get to the root of this matter,” she finally said in a low voice.

Joan walked into the room, sweating over everything as he placed his hands on her shoulder while gazing into her eyes passionately.

“Alexia.. Why are you worked up? She's just doing this to get on your heels, and you won't let her succeed.” Joan said, but Alexia, so calm though her head was filled with worry; the message and her kids.

“I don't care about her, I'm just worried about my kids, Joan,” She swallowed hard.

“I'm here, Alexia. Rita is safe with us except Rhoda,” he shuddered on his shoulders.

Alexia's eyes were all wet as she bit her fingers, “Why do I feel something is not over there, why? I really need to speak to Rhoda very soon,” She panicked.

“You just need to calm your nerves, we can't take action yet until she invades your privacy or hurts anyone!,” Joan responded, but Alexia's mind was not having it. She quickly shook her head and let out a low growl.

"I really hope all this ends. I'm getting tired of the lies we are cooking for society,” Alexia said sadly, turning toward the stairs.

“I no longer have the appetite to eat, maybe some other time, Joan,” she added, without looking back this time.

Joan watched her as she walked upstairs, began to wonder what could change her mood instantly to reject his proposed dinner.

He pulled out his phone from his pocket, went through the notification he had on his screen. It was his fiancé and him all over the net, he scoffed, and placed it back on the sofa before heading towards the kitchen. He put the food in the fridge as he lost appetite as well.

He climbed up to his study room after watching Alexia fast asleep for a while, “I need you to do something for me!”

“What do you want me to do for you, boss?” The receiver replied shortly….

Joan took a deep breath and decided to put in a call,

“Hello,” a husky voice said from the other side of the call

“Bring down Sonita from the company's business and will,” he snarled.

Although he knew that it was a hard task for his lawyer to do it, especially by passing the family protocol relating to the business.

Martin, has always been the one doing some dirty work for him since the old days before he found himself in public matters, but it does not stop him in helping Joan out.

"Alright Boss, apparently I have seen Sonita going off the track and needs to be stopped,” he said, as Joan frowned a bit.

"Just do as I say, no mistake this time. I will double the money for you…” He paused for a while and continued.

“I will send in some necessary documents you can use for a biat to the hospital community,” he added.

"I will get back to you in the hospital community,” Martin said, as he tried to end the call.

“Okay, thank you,” Joan muttered. This is the only way for Sonita to stop hunting his life and Alexia. He had to do it for the sake of the child, as he is aware that she is more than dangerous.

"Is there anything you want me to do regarding the fake news she gave out today? You can leave it to me!” Martin said, with no response from Joan, anger brewing in his mind.

The next day, Alexia got up from bed and rushed down to Rita's room. She has been restless since yesterday after the text she got. She looked around the room, but she did not see her. Fear gripped her tightly, her face was so weary; anxiety all written all over.

She could not stand to lose Rita under her watch, not now someone is after their lives.

She looked around the house, not sight of Rita including Joan, already losing her mind. Just then, the front door cracked open, to see the servant walking into the house with Rita; her hands filled with groceries.

Alexia fell on the floor as she gave out a heavy sigh, her heart sinking into her belly.

“Mommy!,” Rita dropped the bags on the floor, and ran to Alexia. She held Alexia's so tightly

"Mommy, what's wrong? You look scared,” She asked.

Alexia wiped the little tears in her eyes, trying to brighten up her face as she held her tightly to her chest, “you didn't come to my room to read a story book like you always did last night.” She crossed her hands in front of her and pouted.

"I'm sorry darling, I went for dinner with big Uncle Joan, I needed to get acquitted with them as we will soon be family," Alexia responded, pulling her ears gently while apologizing.

"Oh, mommy. I've always wanted to ask you,”

“Go ahead,” she stood up and carried the groceries to the kitchen.

“Why do big Uncle Joan look so much alike like an old friend, Bruce?" She asked.

"Apparently, my child. I think they're twins," Alexia informed, shuddering her shoulders.

"Can't big uncle Joan take us to see Rhoda? You said you went to see Joan's family and now, you're saying that Bruce and Joan are twins. Did you get to see her?" Rita asked.

Alexia let out a long sigh, she could not answer the question prior to the sad incident that happened last night.

"I saw Bruce, but Rhoda wasn't there. It was a gathering for the adults". Alexia swallowed hard.

"I miss Rhoda, Mum. It's been two weeks now, and I'm about to get enrolled into a new school without her by my side", Rita said sadly.

Alexia gave out a heavy sigh. She could not explain everything to her, "I will try my best to keep my promises. Very soon you both will be together.”

"It was not your fault, mum. I didn't think that Bruce would want to separate us! I don't think he would want to separate me from my mom and sister", Rita said.

“But don't worry, okay?, we will be together very soon, I just need to clear up things between I and big uncle Joan,” Alexia said, still putting on a smile while Rita nodded slowly.

Joan was standing by the door, listening to their conversation. He knew it was a tough moment for Alexia to keep pretending to be Rita so she wouldn't get worked up. He stood tall, cleared his throat, “Rita, come here,” he spread his arms open while she ran close to her with kisses all over her face.

"Good morning big uncle Joan," Rita said, smiling all over.

"My baby, how are you?" Joan still hugging her tight.

"I'm fine. I'm missing my sister, we promised each other to stick to each other," Rita said, looking so confused. Joan pulled her chin slightly.

“You don't need to worry, you will meet her at the new school by next week,”

“Sure, Uncle?,” Rita asked,

“Yeah, I'm pretty sure, hurry up and unbox the things we bought from the grocery store,” Rita hurriedly walked down from his body and ran off to the kitchen.

Alexia was so confused at the moment by Joan's announcement to Rita.
