Chapter 96

After saying this, Margaret was about to leave, but as she turned around, her arm was grabbed by Leonard.

Leonard, who had been silent all this time, looked up at the woman standing opposite him and said, "This is my cousin."

His tone was respectful, and his eyes showed the politeness of a younger person towards an elder.

Cousin?

Margaret turned her head in disbelief to look at Leonard. What did he just call this woman?

The woman nodded, her expression somewhat complicated.

She had just heard what Margaret said and knew that Margaret must have misunderstood, so she spoke up, "You must be Leonard's wife. Hello, I'm Kenna Graham, Leonard's cousin."

Margaret turned her head to look at Kenna in disbelief, "You... aren't you the one he's having an affair with?"

Hearing this, Kenna was also a bit confused, "Leonard, what is going on here?"

She had indeed come to find Leonard for dinner today, but she hadn't expected Margaret to say she was the other woman.

"It's a misunderstanding, Kenna. I'm sorry."

Leonard appeared very polite in front of Kenna, clearly showing his respect for his cousin.

"But last time I clearly saw her send you a message saying she wanted to watch the moon together."

If she was just a cousin, why would she send such an ambiguous message?

Margaret's first thought was that the two of them were conspiring to deceive her.

Kenna explained, "When we were young, I often watched the moon with him. If that message made you misunderstand, I apologize. We've always had a sibling relationship, a pure familial bond."

Margaret blinked, unsure how to handle the current situation.

Leonard's relationship with his family wasn't good. They always wanted him to inherit the family business, but his interests lay in medicine.

So he went abroad alone to study medicine, and after returning, he continued to do what he loved, without taking over the family business.

The only person in the family who supported him was Kenna, who had always been close to him since childhood.

He hadn't visited Kenna immediately after returning because he was genuinely busy at the hospital.

Kenna knew about his marriage to Margaret, so she often wanted him to come home for dinner and bring Margaret along.

But he finally brought Margaret back, only for this misunderstanding to occur.

Leonard took out his phone, opened the chat with the unknown number, and sent a message. Immediately, Kenna's phone received a notification.

This was enough to prove that the unknown number indeed belonged to Kenna.

Margaret's face was now full of embarrassment. She realized what an awkward mistake she had made, mistaking Leonard's cousin for his mistress.

This was someone Leonard respected, but their first meeting had turned so unpleasant, making Margaret very nervous.

She immediately turned to Kenna to apologize, "I'm sorry, Kenna. I didn't know that number was yours. I'm really sorry. Please don't take what I said to heart."

After saying this, she suddenly thought of something and continued, "Can I call you Kenna?"

Margaret originally thought that after what had just happened, Kenna would have a very bad impression of her and might even make things difficult for her. She was prepared to be disliked by Kenna, but to her surprise, Kenna smiled gently, her face full of warmth.

"Of course, you can. You are Leonard's wife. We are family."

This left Margaret a bit stunned. She hadn't expected Leonard's cousin to be such an easygoing person.

"Don't stand outside. Let's go in."

Kenna led Margaret and Leonard into her home. Margaret noticed that the place had a very nice, cozy, and serene environment.

From the moment she saw Kenna, she had guessed that this woman was cultured and refined.

She thought, how could such a person be willing to be someone else's mistress?

"You rarely come by. Have a seat. I'll go cook."

Kenna said as she headed to the kitchen. The villa was large, but she lived alone, without even a servant, which surprised Margaret.

Leonard seemed to understand her thoughts and explained, "Kenna doesn't like being disturbed and prefers not to have unfamiliar people around."

Margaret nodded thoughtfully and then tried to stand up from the sofa, "Kenna, let me help you."

It was her first time visiting someone else's home, and not only had she not brought any gifts, but she had also misunderstood them. She felt she should help out.

Kenna turned her head and shook it gently, her tone calm, "No need. Just sit. You are a guest."

This made Margaret feel even more awkward.

After Kenna entered the kitchen, Margaret glared at Leonard, "Why didn't you explain that she was your cousin earlier? You let me make such a big misunderstanding. She must have a bad opinion of me now."

Although she and Leonard had no feelings when they got married, now that they were married, they were family. She naturally hoped Leonard's family would like her.

"If I had explained then, would you have believed me?"

Margaret was slightly taken aback. She thought about it. If Leonard had told her in the car that the woman behind the unknown number was his cousin, she indeed wouldn't have believed him.

Leonard had wanted to bring her to meet his cousin in person because only then would she believe it. No amount of explanation from him could compare to Kenna meeting her in person.

Margaret understood his point, but wasn't his method a bit too aggressive?

"But you couldn't just watch me say all that in front of Kenna."

Margaret was now very frustrated.

"Kenna isn't the type to hold grudges."

This made Margaret unsure whether to feel happy or sad. Thinking back to the righteous things she had said in front of Kenna, she felt embarrassed.

"I should go help Kenna."

Margaret couldn't sit still, so she got up and walked towards the kitchen. Leonard didn't stop her because he knew her personality. The more he stopped her, the more restless she would feel.

In the kitchen, Kenna was preparing dinner. She usually ate light, so she was preparing some vegetarian dishes.
