*Navya Pov*
“I know that you would wear something simple like this.” Aunty said entering the room along with shaking her head.
Why do they both always shake their head or look at me confused or in shock these many times in front of me? But it makes me smile because both mother and son act like the same way for similar things.
How cute! And as for me, I never acted like any of my parents, but my Di acted like both. I came out of my thoughts when I saw that Aunty is checking my cupboards.
“You have these many other good sari’s suitable for the party, then why are you not wearing them?” she asked looking at me confused.
“I... I don’t know how to select, which attire for which occasion.” I replied scratching my head.
“But how did you manage until now?” She asked frowning.
“Well, from a very small age itself, Di always tells me what to wear and what to not for any occasion. Then after she got married mom told me.” I replied, smiling, thinking about how much they did for me.
“Navya! That is completely wrong, and you need to know how to do it on your own. For now, I will select one for you as you are getting late.” She said, and I nodded.
“Next time if I say that I will choose something for you, then you need to reject my offer immediately. Understood?” she added when searching my cupboard.
“Ok, Aunty!” I replied, smiling, feeling a little better that she is helping me.
“Here! Wear this and come downstairs.” she said, giving me a black and red Sari.
When she left I again changed and got downstairs but got suddenly collided by Suhas, who is coming upstairs.
He looked at me for a few minutes and said, “You are looking very beautiful.”
“Aunty selected this.” I said, hiding my little blush.
He nodded and said, “I will get ready in two minutes.” With that he rushed into our room.
As promised, he came after a few minutes, and we left for this party bidding our ‘bye’ to Aunty.
When we reached there I saw that the house is really big one, and many cars are parked in the empty area on the other side of the door.
After he parked the car, we both went inside and walked across the lawn. There I saw so many, I mean so many people talking to each other or drinking something or eating something.
“You must have gone to business party’s right. But this client parties always be beyond the limit one.” Suhas said, whispering to me in the loud music.
“I never went to any business or outside family occasion party.” I said looking at him.
“What? But you have your own company right. And you guys must have not been left with the invitations but have held some few parties too. I myself attended a few of your parties before two years.” He said shocked.
“My family went to so many parties and even hosted a few of them. But I never attended them as they always ask me to stay back.” I said and took the glass he offered, and he took another for himself from the waiter.
“And why would they do that every time?” He asked confused.
“They say that it is better for me to stay back than attend them when I don’t like them in the first place.” I replied taking a sip.
“You don’t like the parties? You should have told me then I wouldn’t have brought you here.” He asked looking around.
“I actually don’t know whether I like them or not as I never attended one before.” I replied.
“Then why did they say that you don’t like them?” he asked raising an eyebrow.
“I don’t know! They just tell me that every time, and I never asked them.” I replied, shrugging and felt why he is even asking me all these questions. He just shook his head looking somewhere else and then turned towards me.
“Well then Mrs.Agarkar let me show you around how the party works so that you will experience it properly.” he said, and I nodded at him smiling.
After some time, we sat a little far from everyone on two chairs present and looked at everyone calmly.
“Do we also need to host them from your company side?” I asked him after a few minutes.
“Yeah! But don’t worry mom will help you with them, and I will also be there right.” He replied, and I nodded at him smiling.
Then we all had our dinner, and I even talked to a few people. We decided to dance as few people forced us towards the center area where all the couples are dancing.
I looked at the time on my phone to see that in a few minutes it is going to be 12. Everyone looked excited knowing that.
“Suhas! I didn’t think you would attend this party.” I heard someone saying, and I turned back to see an old age man coming towards us.
“How can I not? Your parties has been always amazing.” Suhas said, smiling a little.
“Right! Now, tell me who this beautiful girl beside you is?” He asked looking at me.
“She is my wife.” Suhas replied.
“So you finally got married like you, are saying for the past two years. Are you enjoying my party, Kavya?” he asked looking at me.
I stared at him in confusion and shock. Because how does he know my sister's name and why is he thinking of me as her.
“She is Navya and Kavya is her sister.” Suhas replied for me.
“Oh! I am really sorry. I just thought you were Kavya.” he said, smiling a little and then continued saying, “I am sure of you guys are looking forward to 12 to have a couples lucky kiss.”
“Why did he think of me as Di?” I asked him confused my first doubt. At first, I decided not to ask him, but then I remember Aunty’s words from morning.
“Uhmm... she is my best friend right, so once I talked about her with him. Then he saw my picture with her. You both look kind of similar right so he must have thought like that.” Suhas replied scratching his neck.
“Ok!” I said nodding at him. “Then is he talking about the same kiss I am thinking about?” I asked him.
“Yeah! How do you know that?” he asked looking around.
“Divya told me about it last year.” I replied and then asked, “Do we... have... to?”
“It is a kind of always a tradition in his party which he started because he found his love life through this type of activity only. And we are newly married couple, so we can’t stand back.” He replied, and I nodded at him nervously.
“Hey! I have to make some call. Will you stay here itself so that I can find you easily?” he asked and I again nodded at him.
A few minutes later, I heard the music stop and the lights started getting little dim. Then I looked around for Suhas, but he is nowhere to be found.
“Okay ladies close your eyes and wait for your guy as we are going to start our countdown.” I heard someone saying.
I closed my eyes, thinking Suhas said he will find me right so he will. Then I heard the countdown from 10 to 1. After that I didn’t feel anyone near me, so I thought he must have got stuck somewhere.
I was just about to open my eyes, but then suddenly felt lips pressing on my cheek. The feeling of plainness just proved that he is Suhas. I smiled, thinking how he kissed me there respecting that I am uncomfortable.
But when I opened my eyes, I immediately pushed the person away and looked at him wide eyes because he is not my husband.
“What are you doing?” I asked him shocked.
“Just chill miss. I saw that you just stood here alone on your own, so I did it so that you will not feel sad like me.” Saying this he turned and left.
“Who the hell is that?” I heard Suhas asking, and I turned to see him standing there.
“I don’t know!” I replied and told him what happened.
“But I saw you smiling when he is... he is kissing on your cheek.” he said looking at me blankly.
“Because I... I thought it was you.” I said and he just shook his head rubbing his temple.
“Let’s go from here.” Saying this he held my hand and we both walked outside the house.
While driving he just stayed silent, and I fidgeted with my hands. Is he angry with me now? I thought, but it was not my fault. I was requested to close my eyes, and I did. How do I know that someone is going to be near me and kiss me like that?
We reached our house and got inside calmly. After entering our room, he locked our door. I walked towards the dressing table, and he followed me.
*Suhas Pov*
I didn’t think he would remember Kavya’s name which I mentioned when I told him that I will get married to her. And I am even more surprised when Navya bought the reason I gave her.
Until then, I am already surprised that her family just never lets her attend any party when they actually attend at least one each month and sometimes even more than that.
I felt that no one else should mistake her with her sister which I already did when I took her first kiss yesterday. I know this was the reason for which I married her. But it feels uncomfortable while thinking about it.
I called my P.A and said, “By tomorrow, I want the news to be spread that I married a girl named 'Navya', and the name must be very specific.”
Then I heard the countdown, so I walked towards Navya in hurry but as couples stopped in their tracks, I had to walk towards her around the crowd. But when I reached her, I saw that someone else was kissing on her cheek, and she is smiling with her eyes closed.
I rushed towards them to punch him, but he already left, and I actually felt a little punch when she said that she thought it was me.
I just calmly drove us towards our house and went inside our room along with her. When she walked towards the dressing table, I locked the door and followed her.
I turned her around and saw how much similar she looks to Kavya. Nevertheless, in behavior and nature, she is completely different. The thought of marrying Navya actually entered my mind when I saw that she is very similar to her sister.
I shook my head and asked, “Why did you feel that he was me?”
“I... I felt the same feeling like I felt yesterday when you kissed me.” she replied nervously.
“You mean “Blah!” right?” I asked her cursing myself inside the head.
She looked at me stunned and then slowly nodded. And now I actually felt a big punch because she actually thought a stranger's kiss even though on her cheek similar to mine.
Why am I getting a feel that I shouldn’t have kissed her yesterday considering her as Kavya? But I shouldn’t feel like this, so I leaned down and decided to kiss her again thinking her as Kavya or that’s what I stressed my brain to think like that, and finally it started thinking of the girl in front of me as Kavya.
To my utter shock, she turned her face away. I moved back immediately thinking why did she do that.
“It’s just that today’s incident proved me one thing. We both are literally like strangers, and we don’t even like each other that much so that must be the reason for getting a feel that your kiss is too plain like I felt for the same with that stranger. So we will know each other more and then do all these as I really want my second kiss at least a little special.” She said and then sighed and then immediately looked at me wide-eyed mirroring my expression.
“Did I say all this out loud?” she asked me in a whisper, and I nodded at her slowly still in shock.
“Oh, I am very sorry. Please forget all that and...” She started saying something else, but I cut her off saying “It’s ok!”
Then I walked towards our bed and lay down like a robot. I closed my eyes and then thought this was going to be so extensive work than I actually thought. However, tomorrow I may see my small victory.
Even after thinking that I still felt disturbed because my wife felt the same by my kiss and a stranger's kiss I mean, which is on her cheek. But what would I have done if he had done it on her lips?
