Chapter 62
Chapter 62
Virio glanced at me.
The coldness in his eyes made my heart tremble.
He asked, "Luca, who else knows about my coma?"
To him, it seemed I was also someone who shouldn't have known about his coma.
I covered my mouth, worried that my crying would disturb others.
When Luca heard Virio say this, he immediately understood. He called for a doctor to examine Virio.
The result was that Virio had lost his memory.
This memory loss was partial. It was hard to determine the exact cause, and hard to know when he might recover.
"He remembers his identity and what he did before, but he doesn't remember the feelings between you two. However, he recognizes you and knows you have a partnership with him," the doctor told me.
Virio had lost his memory, and the only part missing was the memories related to me.
I covered my face and ran out.
Sitting in my study, I blankly recalled everything that had happened during this time.
If he didn't remember me and only knew I was a business partner, was there any reason for me to stay here?
I was even staying with the Soren family using the identity of Virio's fiancée.
But he no longer remembered our feelings for each other.
My hand gradually moved to my chest.
I had to admit, at this moment, my heart was in terrible pain.
After a while, I heard footsteps nearby. Thinking it was Virio, I looked up in delight, only to find it was Luca.
Luca noticed the disappointment in my eyes and slowly walked over to sit beside me. "You must be a bit disappointed that it's not Virio coming to find you."
I smiled bitterly and nodded. "You caught me."
Luca and I were friends now, so I didn't need to hide my emotions in front of him.
"I just wanted to come and say a few words. Actually, Virio's memory loss doesn't mean anything. He just doesn't remember his feelings for you, but he remembers being your partner. Besides, we've already told him about all the contracts he left behind, and he said he'll seriously try to recall his feelings for you."
But I shook my head, opened my mouth, feeling somewhat powerless.
I stared at my toes helplessly and said, "If he chose to forget me and our feelings, only knowing I'm a business partner, maybe something is protecting him. I think maybe I shouldn't be so picky."
Virio waking up was already a miracle for us.
You have to understand, these past few days, all I hoped for every day was that Virio would miraculously wake up and continue with his affairs.
Now that I got my wish, what was there to be dissatisfied about?
Strictly speaking, the two of us weren't really in a relationship anyway.
As I spoke, Luca looked at me with eyes full of pity. "You know you two were indeed in love. I can tell from how you both acted."
"Anyway, you should keep hope. I think Virio just suffered too big a shock and temporarily forgot about this, but he'll remember soon."
Even with Luca's comfort, I held no hope for this matter.
I smiled and shook my head. "It's okay. As long as he remembers I'm a partner and acknowledges all the agreements he signed before, that's good enough. I'll leave the Soren family affairs to you guys from now on."
As for me, I needed to focus on dealing with my uncle and sister.
But over the next few days, Virio didn't kick me out.
Every day, doctors and nurses took care of him and checked on his condition. When he looked at me, his gaze would become very complicated.
But he truly couldn't remember our feelings.
I knew I shouldn't force him, so I reduced my communication with him, only talking to him about business matters.
Luca and Charles were naturally anxious about this, but they were just observers with no right or position to interfere in our relationship.
I continued to help Virio handle the Soren family affairs.
During Virio's coma, they had done so much that just the handover would take a long time.
Just then, I learned some major news.
Massimo's son had returned from abroad.
His son's name was Joseph Soren, from the same generation as Virio.
But he was a year older than Virio.
I told Virio this news, and he frowned. "Joseph is not easy to deal with."
Then he looked up at me. "If what you all said is true, that Massimo did those things while I was in a coma and you've now put him under house arrest, Joseph's return is very likely to seek revenge on you."
At this point, he smiled bitterly. "Of course, the target of revenge includes me too."
My heart immediately rose to my throat.
Without even meeting Joseph, I already had a deep understanding of him.
Virio said that years ago, when he was home, the two of them actually had a superficially peaceful relationship.
Not long after, Massimo sent Joseph abroad to study, and Virio wasn't clear what this person would do in the future.
Nor was he clear about his purpose for returning this time.
We were all on high alert about Joseph's return.
But unexpectedly, when Joseph and I met, he directly expressed his support for Virio in front of everyone.
We were having a family dinner at the time.
Not many people came. Many elders of the Soren family were throwing tantrums after Massimo was put under house arrest and refused to attend.
As Massimo's son, Joseph was unexpectedly mild, especially when Virio and I brought up Massimo's current house arrest. Joseph raised his glass and shook his head.
"Of course, I know about this. I heard about it before I even came back, but I think differently from others. Actually, I support your decision." As he spoke, he swirled the wine in his glass and looked at Virio and me.
"My father did indeed do some bad things, whether to the family or to Virio, didn't he? Under these circumstances, I'm relieved that you could propose such a strong punishment."
"And I won't make trouble with you over this."
Joseph looked at Virio with very focused eyes. "You know I've always supported you."
Even though he said this, my gaze at him was still full of doubt.
Just then, Joseph looked at me.
The moment our eyes met, my scalp tingled.
But Joseph smiled. "This must be Elvira. Virio, I heard you have a fiancée. I was surprised. I brought you both a gift this time."
He had someone next to him hand me a present.
I looked at Virio, and he nodded at me, so I opened the box.
Unexpectedly, inside was an exquisite diamond necklace.
The necklace sparkled brilliantly under the lights.
