28. The criminal couple

Crystal Allen

"Can you see why we need to take this money?"

Ansel was asking to make sure I understood everything he had said and for what purpose we needed to do it. I nodded once again, confirming what he wanted to hear so much.

"I understood that we need this money to leave London and live away from all this. Just me, you, and our baby." I smiled at him once again. Honestly speaking, since I had moved into Ansel's apartment three months ago, this was the first time he had actually said something that pleased me.

He said he didn't want to have children with me, but soon after finding out I was pregnant, he started to show that he cared about me and the baby. He started treating me better and even fired that dirty and insufferable maid so that I couldn't be stressed any more like I was the last time she made me feel so bad to the point that I fainted. I almost lost my baby because of that hateful woman. It was indisputable how happy I was with his decision to fire the maid, and he had changed not only with the act of the maid but also with the fact that he started to bring gifts and sweets to me. The day he brought chocolate, I almost fell back with so much happiness, so I could say that my relationship with him was finally working, and that everything was because of this adorable child that was in my womb and that I already loved so much.

That's why Ansel suggested that I take money from my father, so we could go to another city and forget about this polluted and dirty city. "You must agree that even if your parents find out that you switched identities with Lea, they will never forgive you and will never welcome you back into their home as their daughter. So what better way to get revenge on them than by taking a good portion of your father's treasure? After all, it's not even like it was robbery if you stop to think that the money will be used to feed his daughter and grandson."

That was 100 percent true. I knew that my father would never take me back to the Allen mansion if, for example, I decided to go back home right now (although I don't think I'll ever get to the point of thinking about going back to that hateful place). He would never take me back because the aristocrat John Allen had a reputation to uphold in British noble society. He wouldn't want to have to deal with people talking about his daughter, who decided to abandon the nobility to live with her boyfriend in mediocre conditions, and it was well known that my father cared more about his reputation than about me, who was his daughter, especially because it was because of this reason he had abandoned my mother.

That's why the day I left home, I knew I was never going back, and it wasn't like I minded stealing that man's money either. Yes, steal. The name was the same, and I didn't have a guilty conscience in the slightest, because if I had to do something that would harm my father and that hateful wife of his, I would do it willingly; besides, I didn't deserve to live in mediocrity while my father was bathing in gold.

"Don't worry, love. I will gladly do this mission for the good of us and our baby." I was smiling beautifully at the man I loved while we were in a carriage in the middle of the night; it even reminded me of when he and I would meet on the sly when we were still knowing the adrenaline of doing something forbidden made me excited; it was at that time when I fell deeply in love with this man.

"Oh, my precious, I love you so much." He gave me a kiss, and I could barely contain my happiness. It was so good to know that Ansel was finally opening up about his emotions to me. In those days, he was starting to call me 'my love,' and I didn't know I needed that so much until he started calling me that. I was really thinking about giving Ansel lots of children; if children were what made him happy and radiant, then I was willing to spend my entire life getting pregnant with him.

"I love you so much too, Ansel. I can do anything for you." I smiled, completely fulfilled. Furthermore, I wanted Lea to see me now and see how happy I am next to the man I love. She was always against my relationship with Ansel and always defamed him by claiming insults about him, but she was wrong because Ansel was an excellent gentleman who would take care of me and protect me forever. He is the perfect man for me and has qualities that I appreciate.

"You are ready?" He asked, and another nod came from me.

"I'm ready."

"Good, let's go then." After one last kiss, we got out of the carriage to go steal my father's money.
