CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR
"Jesus Dominic. Do you have any idea of what you were doing?" I groaned while starting the car.
"Look, Andre, I already had my fair share of quarreling with Anna and quite a tongue lash from her father so please give me a break," I stated as a matter of factly. This was not exactly turning out to be a great day but then, since Nicole walked away from my life, there had never really been a good day for me.
"I’m just surprised," Andre shrugged leaning back on his seat.
My mind raced back to the news that had made quite an upsurge in the media.
Multi Billionaire and soon to be son in law of President Arnold Hemsworth harasses an innocent lady caught in traffic. Dominic Valiente is said to have bumped into the lady’s car but when she bumped into his car accidentally while in traffic, he went on to spawn a verbal fight with the lady. This has taken over the social media with several media outlets castrating the President’s soon to be son-in-law for his unruly behavior. No action has however been taken against him which had made many people wonder if his mistake was being overlooked because he would be marrying the president’s oldest daughter or did this have to do with his high social ranking? On the other hand, on being questioned the lady has said she does not have anything against the billionaire but she hoped that such mistakes should not be overlooked in the future.
Running a frustrated hand through my hair, I let out a sigh. What the fuck was wrong with the media? Just a small thing they would twist it to take a dig at some rich fellow. I could attest that I was not exactly unruly like the media had put it.
We drove up at the La Powers Club. In all honesty it had the most intimidating view and that piqued my interest. Whoever owned it must have a really huge load of cash. Letting Andre drag me inside, I pushed everything else to the back of my mind. Tonight I just needed to have a couple of drinks and forget about every goddamn thing in my life.
"I'll have to search both of you sir," The guard at the magnificent door of the club stopped us.
"Do you know that he is the president's soon to be son in law?" Andre questioned him while chuckling.
“Even if the president himself was to walk in here, he would still have to undergo the same procedure," the guard wasn't even batting an eyelid.
"It's okay, “I stated before Andre did.
The search was very brief but thorough.
"This way," He motioned to an inner room.
A few minutes later we were out with our brand new membership cards. Not that I was going to need it after today.
"That bloody guard humiliated us. How do you search the president's son in law like some common bloody thief right in open?" Andre complained as we sat by the counter.
"It was nothing Andre. Let's get wasted for the night," I diverted his attention watching a smile build up his lips.
We placed our orders, I let my gaze hover around, assessing the view. This club was one hell of a master piece and I could already tell their security was really tight. Whoever owned this club must be sinking in money. The audience in it was just full of high class people, judging from the dressing to the last piece of jewelry on their bodies.
"Did you notice this?" Andre inquired excitedly while waving his membership card in front of me.
"Notice what?" I asked confused.
"They don't write our real names on the card," he announced
"Really?" I stated while fishing my own card from my wallet.
Flipping it I felt my insides suddenly curl up as sweat began forming under my armpits at the sight of the words written in dark ink.
MONSTER.
"My club name is Beast. How cool is that? What does yours read Dominic?" He peaked in mine.
"Monster? That's sounds super awesome. It’s like you are the fucking Monster, you know,” He had no idea what word was doing to my thoughts. All my bone felt like they were crashing against one another so painfully, my brain feeling like someone had spread ice on it.
Monster. That's what Nicole called me. It was like no matter what I do something will always come up to remind of that fucking woman. All I wanted was to move on with my life but instead I seemed to be stuck right where she left me. All my thought were always on her and nothing was making sense in my life right now.
"Dominic? Are you okay?" I took a deep sip of my drink before looking at Andre.
"I’m fine,"
Half an hour later I lost track of my drinking, but everything was already starting to look fazed.
"You know the first time I saw Nicole was in a club. She was looking so sexy despite the frown on her face. She had this aura around her that compelled me towards her. I wanted her so fucking bad since that first time I laid my eyes on her. It’s like I just knew I wanted her right from that moment, “I burped.
"Really? You fell in love with her at first sight?" seems like I wasn't the only one drunk.
"Just like it happens in the novels, “I agreed chuckling drunkenly.
"Really? Nicole is an author too, right?" Andre reminisced.
"What a coincidence, right?" I laughed.
"Have you ever read any of her novels?"
"No," I frowned on at least made an attempt to. Either way, I was too drunk to decipher what exactly I was doing.
"I hear she reads good novels," Andre stated.
"Did you mean to write?" I questioned chuckling drunkenly.
"That's what I said,"
"You must be really drunk Andre," I observed.
"And so are you," he pointed out the obvious.
"I know. Can I tell you a secret?"
He leaned towards me and taking that as a yes, I bent down to whisper.
"I still love Nicole. I miss her so fucking bad,"
We stayed in that position for some few minutes before I stood up.
"Where are you going Dominic?"
"I’m going outside to get some fresh air. You can go have some time with the stripers you have been gushing about all evening," I was staggering lightly all the way out of the club.
As I stood by the terrace I let my gaze fall on the guards. People were just walking in freely. Wait, why did they search us then? Never mind. Maybe I was just drunk and imagining things. As I walked towards the further end of the terrace I ran into a lady.
"I’m sorry. I was not looking... Nicole?" despite my drunk nature I could not fight off the fast beating of my heart at the strikingly familiar raven haired beauty.
