Chapter 64: All Finished

Chapter 64: All Finished

James's heart tightened, and he quickly shook his head.

"It's not your fault. They're just too dirty, too shameless. You're kind-hearted, that's why they took advantage of you. This isn't on you."

He paused, his voice dropping a few notches.

"From now on, no matter who comes looking for you, even if it's anyone from the Collins family, call me first. I'll handle it. Don't you dare run out alone again."

"I'll remember."

Caroline nodded obediently, tightening her grip on his hand.

"With you here, I'm not afraid of anything."

James looked at her obedient manner, and the murderous anger in his heart finally dissipated by more than half, leaving only deep heartache.

He stood up and pressed the call button. Soon a nurse came in carrying warm water and medicine, moving so quietly she barely made a sound.

"Mr. Anderson, Ms. Collins, it's time for your medicine."

The nurse kept her head down as she handed over the pills and warm water, not even daring to breathe heavily.

James took the water cup and first tested the temperature—not too hot, not too cold—before passing it to Caroline. He separated the pills one by one and brought them to her lips.

Caroline's face flushed slightly. She opened her mouth to take the medicine and drank two sips of water. Her throat felt much better.

"James, I can do it myself. You don't need to be so careful."

"You're a patient right now, so you have to listen to me."

Without allowing any argument, James took a tissue and gently wiped the corner of her mouth, his movements natural and practiced.

The nurse stood to the side, watching with trepidation. Who would have thought that The Reaper, who killed without blinking outside, could be so gentle with his girlfriend?

Not daring to stay longer, she set down the items and quickly retreated, gently closing the door behind her.

The hospital room suddenly became quiet. Caroline leaned against the headboard, looking at the fatigue in James's eyes, feeling increasingly guilty.

"James, why don't you lie down on the cot next to me for a bit? I'll watch over you. Just sleep for an hour, just one hour, okay?"

She gently shook his wrist, her tone carrying a hint of playfulness.

James couldn't resist when she acted like this. His heart softened immediately.

"Alright, I'll sleep for a bit. If you need anything, call me right away."

James gave in. He got up and walked to the cot beside her, only removing his jacket. Without even taking off his shoes, he lay down, his gaze never leaving Caroline.

Within a few minutes, the sound of steady breathing filled the air.

Caroline looked at his sleeping profile, warmth filling her heart. She lay quietly, not daring to move, afraid of waking him.

At the Reed Villa, the atmosphere was oppressively tense.

Marc sat in the main seat, his face dark.

Standing before him were the heads of the West family and the Saunders family, along with three men dressed in black tactical gear, carrying the smell of blood—clearly people who dealt with warfare regularly.

These three men were the domestic forces left by Ironclad Weapons Corp, and the main force behind this assassination operation.

Their hands were stained with blood, their methods ruthless, far more desperate than ordinary bodyguards.

"Gentlemen, James destroyed my son and ruined the foundation of the Reed family. This grudge, I must settle!"

Marc slammed the table, his eyes vicious.

"Right now, all his attention is on that bitch Caroline. When she's discharged, that'll be our best chance to strike!"

Sidney West, head of the West family, quickly nodded in agreement.

"Marc is right! James destroyed the Turner family, now he's swallowed the Collins family. We're definitely next! Rather than sit and wait for death, we should strike first!"

Kurt Saunders, head of the Saunders family, also spoke up.

"I've already prepared my men, the best fighters in the family. As long as we can get rid of James, we're willing to pay any price!"

The leader of Ironclad Weapons Corp let out a cold laugh, his voice hoarse, carrying the hardness of someone long accustomed to killing fields.

"James destroyed our channels in Silvermoon City. He should have died long ago. This time we've brought heavy weapons—assault rifles, grenades, all prepared. As soon as he shows up, we'll make sure he and that woman die together at the hospital entrance."

A flash of ruthlessness crossed Marc's eyes.

"I've already paid off a hospital orderly. She's tight-lipped, reliable. When the time comes, she'll signal us and tell us the exact discharge time for James and Caroline. We'll ambush them in advance at the hospital entrance. As soon as they get in the car, we'll open fire with everything we've got!"

"No matter how good James is at fighting, he can't dodge this many heavy weapons!"

The men exchanged glances, all showing sinister smiles.

In their eyes, this plan was flawless. James was as good as dead this time.

What they didn't know was that every word of their conversation was being heard clearly by a monitor Kevin had arranged outside.

He hid by the ventilation opening outside the wall, recording every word, and immediately sent the information to Kevin.

Kevin was outside handling the aftermath of the Collins family situation. The moment he received the message, his expression changed instantly.

Not daring to delay for a second, he immediately drove to the hospital, rushing to the hospital room door with hurried steps. Taking a deep breath, he gently knocked on the door.

James was already a light sleeper. Hearing the knock, he woke immediately, his eyes instantly returning to their cold, sharp state, completely different from his sleeping appearance moments ago.

He got up, signaling Caroline to stay quiet, and gently opened the door and stepped out.

"What is it?"

James's voice was very low, afraid of disturbing Caroline inside.

Kevin's face was grave. He leaned close to James's ear and told him everything in detail.

After listening, the temperature around James instantly dropped to freezing point. His eyes were as cold as a poisoned blade, his fingers slightly clenched, knuckles turning white.

What a Marc—warned but still unrepentant, still daring to join forces with outsiders to try to harm Caroline. He was truly seeking death.

"Mr. Anderson, what do we do now? Should I take people right now to wipe out the Reed family, the West family, and the Saunders family?"

Kevin lowered his voice, his tone carrying murderous intent.

James shook his head slightly, his eyes cold but revealing a hint of calculation.

"No need. They want to make their move on discharge day? Then let them come."

Kevin was stunned.

"Mr. Anderson, you mean...?"

"Turn their plan against them."

James's tone was calm but carried absolute confidence.

"They've set up such a big trap. If we don't cooperate a little, wouldn't that be disrespectful? Perfect timing—this time we'll clean out the Reed family, the West family, the Saunders family, and the remaining forces of Ironclad Weapons Corp all at once. End this problem forever."

Kevin understood immediately, his eyes lighting up.

"I get it! I'll arrange it right now. I'll set up defenses around the hospital. As soon as they show up, we'll take them all down!"

"Good."

James nodded.

"Remember, move quickly. Don't alarm Caroline. She can't handle any more shocks right now."

"Understood!"

Kevin nodded, turned and quickly left, not daring to stay a second longer.

James stood in the corridor, the murderous aura around him almost becoming tangible.

Marc, this time I'll make you and everyone behind you die together.

He took a deep breath, suppressed the killing intent in his eyes, put on a gentle expression again, and pushed open the door to enter the hospital room.

Seeing him return, Caroline immediately asked,

"James, who was that just now? Did something happen?"
