Chapter 61: Kidnapping
"Ms. Collins, don't waste your energy. Who we are doesn't matter. What matters is that someone wants us to take you away."
"It's Daryl, isn't it?"
Caroline immediately thought of Daryl. Besides Daryl, no one else would harm her like this.
After all, Daryl had always been jealous of her and wanted to kick her out of the Collins family.
Dorian smiled, neither confirming nor denying it.
"Ms. Collins, since you've already guessed it, stop resisting. Come with us quietly, so we don't have to hurt you."
Then he waved his hand, and someone quickly came forward with a towel and covered Caroline's nose and mouth.
Instantly, Caroline felt dizzy and weak all over. After struggling a few times, she completely passed out.
Dorian looked at Caroline lying unconscious on the ground and waved his hand.
"Pick her up and get her to the dock quickly. Don't waste time. If James's people find out, we're all done for."
Several men hurried forward, lifted Caroline, stuffed her into a van nearby, and drove straight to the dock.
At this time, Julie had already received word that Bronte was at home, safe and sound.
Alarm bells immediately went off in her head, and she told James about this right away.
"Mr. Anderson, something's wrong! Ms. Collins is in trouble!"
James, who was handling business at the villa, instantly turned ice-cold when he heard this.
"What did you say?"
Julie knew how important Caroline was to James and didn't dare hide anything. She told him everything from start to finish.
"Damn it!"
James was furious. Someone dared to harm Caroline right under his nose? They were asking for death!
At this time, in a remote corner of the dock, Daryl was standing next to a van, talking with several foreigners dressed in black.
Those foreigners were the overseas human traffickers that Dorian had contacted.
The leader was a tall, blonde man named Tom.
Tom walked over, glanced at Caroline in the van, and nodded.
"Good, the person is fine. This is the money we agreed on, five hundred thousand dollars total. Count it."
With that, someone behind Tom handed over a black case.
Daryl opened the case. It was full of US dollars. He roughly counted it, confirmed there was no problem, and his smile grew even wider.
"No problem, Tom. I've received the money. You can take her now."
Tom smiled and waved to his men. "Put her in the car. Let's go."
Several men hurried forward, about to lift Caroline out of the van.
Just then, Caroline slowly woke up. She opened her eyes.
Seeing the scene before her, she instantly understood—she had been sold to human traffickers by Daryl and Dorian.
Her heart filled with both anger and fear. She struggled to get up, but her body was weak. All she could do was glare viciously at Daryl.
"Daryl, you bastard! How dare you sell me to human traffickers! James won't let you get away with this. He'll definitely kill you!"
Daryl watched her struggle, his smile growing more smug.
"James? Caroline, stop counting on James. Once you're sold overseas, even if James is powerful, he won't be able to find you."
"By then, the Collins family will be mine, the company will be mine. I'll live ten thousand times better than you!"
"Dream on!"
Caroline shouted angrily.
"Daryl, a lowlife like you, even if you get the Collins Group, you won't be able to keep it! You'll get what's coming to you sooner or later!"
Daryl got angry at her scolding. He reached out, grabbed Caroline's hair, and slapped her hard across the face.
The crisp sound of the slap echoed across the empty dock.
Caroline's cheek instantly swelled up, and blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.
"You think you're still the high-and-mighty Ms. Collins from before? From today on, you're just a slave who's been sold off. You'll never be able to turn your life around!"
Caroline was dizzy from the blow, her cheek burning with pain.
Dorian watched this scene, frowned, and stepped forward to pull Daryl back.
"Daryl, don't waste time. Tom is still waiting."
Only then did Daryl stop, glaring viciously at Caroline.
"You're lucky. I'll let you off today. When you get overseas, you'll have plenty to suffer!"
Just then, the sharp sound of car engines roared, and more than a dozen black cars rushed over.
James got out with members of Specter Syndicate.
His whole body radiated a powerful aura, his eyes frighteningly cold, staring hard at Daryl, Dorian, and the others.
Seeing James, Daryl's face instantly turned deathly pale. His whole body trembled, and the case in his hand dropped to the ground, US dollars scattering everywhere.
He never expected James to arrive so quickly, and with so many people.
Dorian and the others panicked too. They didn't expect James to find this place so fast.
Dorian quickly had people block in front of him, his voice tense.
"Mr. Anderson, we were just following orders. It's not our fault. It's Daryl—Daryl made us do this!"
Daryl was even more terrified. He knew James would actually kill people.
If James caught him, he definitely wouldn't have a good ending.
In his panic, he grabbed Caroline beside him.
He picked up a piece of broken glass from the ground and pressed it against Caroline's neck, shouting at James,
"James, don't come any closer! If you come closer, I'll kill her!"
James stopped in his tracks. His eyes instantly turned blood-red, his heart feeling like it was being squeezed hard, the pain almost making it impossible to breathe.
He looked at the swelling on Caroline's face and the blood at the corner of her mouth.
Looking at the broken glass pressed against her neck, anger and worry intertwined in his heart.
"Daryl, let her go. Whatever it is, come at me."
Daryl laughed, laughing crazily.
"If you let me go, I'll let her go. If you dare come closer, I'll kill her right now!"
James's fists clenched with a cracking sound, the fury in his eyes almost burning.
But he didn't dare act rashly. He was afraid Daryl might act impulsively and hurt Caroline.
But just then, Daryl lost his focus for a moment, his foot slipped, and he fell into the sea with Caroline.
"Caroline!"
James's eyes turned red. He immediately leaped in, jumping into the sea and swimming toward Caroline.
The Specter Syndicate members sprang into action, instantly controlling Dorian, Tom, and the others, pressing them all to the ground, unable to move.
Dorian and the others trembled all over. They knew they were completely finished this time.
In the sea, James swam desperately toward Caroline.
Caroline was dizzy from choking on seawater, weak all over, slowly sinking down.
James panicked inside. Using all his strength, he finally grabbed Caroline, held her in his arms, and swam toward the shore.
As he swam, he kept calling Caroline's name.
"Caroline, hang in there, just hang in there a little longer. We'll reach the shore soon. Don't scare me, okay?"
