Chapter 44 Buying a Car
She knew that Yasmin could be a bit willful sometimes, but she never thought Yasmin would want to hurt her.
Besides, Yasmin was her only friend in Silvermoon City, and she didn't want to lose this friend.
"Yasmin, I'm not blaming you."
Caroline said gently,
"As long as you know you were wrong, we're still good friends."
"Really? Caroline, you really forgive me?"
Yasmin said with fake surprise, while sneering inside.
"Yes, I forgive you."
Caroline said with a smile.
"Where are you now? Do you want me to come find you?"
"I'm at the coffee shop downstairs from your company. I want to have a good talk with you, is that okay?"
Yasmin said.
"Okay, wait for me. I'll be right down."
After Caroline finished speaking, she hung up the phone, grabbed her bag, got up and headed downstairs.
She didn't think much of it, and didn't notice anything off about Yasmin's tone.
She also didn't realize that Yasmin was hiding such evil thoughts in her heart.
Caroline quickly arrived at the coffee shop and saw Yasmin sitting by the window with a wronged expression on her face and red-rimmed eyes.
She walked over quickly and sat down across from Yasmin.
"Yasmin, what's wrong? Did something happen?"
Yasmin looked up at Caroline, a smile appearing on her face.
"Nothing, I just regret it so much - regret misunderstanding you before and fighting with you."
As she spoke, she unconsciously pulled at her sleeve, trying to hide the bruises on her arm.
But Caroline still caught her movement. Caroline frowned and asked curiously.
"Yasmin, what happened to your arm? Why are there bruises?"
Yasmin quickly hid her arm under the table, a panicked expression flashing across her face, then she pretended to be calm and said.
"It's nothing, I just accidentally fell yesterday and hit my arm. It's not serious, it'll be fine in a few days."
Caroline was a bit skeptical and said with a frown,
"You fell? How could you fall so badly? Should we go to the hospital to get it checked?"
"No, no need."
Yasmin quickly shook her head, her face full of smiles.
"It's really not serious, just a small bruise, it doesn't affect anything.
Caroline, let's not talk about this, okay? I want to have a good talk with you. Let's never fight again, okay?"
Caroline looked at her sincere expression, and her doubts instantly disappeared. She nodded.
"Okay, let's never fight again. We'll always be good friends."
Yasmin sneered inside, but her face still wore a gentle smile.
She chatted with Caroline about this and that, while secretly planning how to trick Caroline into going to Quinton.
On the other side, James finished handling the Reed family's matters and arranged for Kevin to keep an eye on the Collins Group, then went to pick up Caroline.
He walked quickly to the coffee shop and from a distance saw Caroline and Yasmin sitting by the window, chatting and laughing.
James walked into the coffee shop, went to Caroline's side, and said gently,
"Caroline, we should go."
Caroline looked up and saw James, her face immediately breaking into a smile.
"James, you're here."
She then pointed at Yasmin.
"James, Yasmin and I made up."
James glanced at Yasmin, his eyes cold. He didn't say anything, just nodded.
Yasmin felt panicked under James's gaze and quickly lowered her head, pretending to drink her coffee, while secretly planning how to keep James from suspecting her.
"James, did you need me for something?"
Caroline asked curiously.
James ruffled her hair, his tone gentle.
"Nothing much, I just missed you and came to pick you up.
By the way, now that you're going to work at the company, it's not convenient for you to get around. I'll take you to buy a car. Whatever you like, we'll get it."
"Buy a car?"
Caroline was startled, then shook her head.
"No need, James, don't go to all that trouble, and don't spend so much money."
"No."
James said firmly.
"Listen to me, let's go buy a car. Consider it a gift from me."
Just then, Yasmin suddenly let out a mocking laugh, raised her head, her eyes full of disdain.
"Buy a car? James, stop bragging, will you? You're just a homeless wanderer, how much money could you have? Buy a car? I bet you can't even afford a bicycle."
James glanced at her sideways, his eyes cold. He couldn't be bothered to deal with her and just looked at Caroline, his tone gentle.
"Caroline, ignore her. Let's go buy a car."
Caroline nodded, stood up, and followed James out of the coffee shop.
Yasmin watched their backs, feeling very indignant. She stood up and quickly followed them.
"Wait for me! I'm coming too! I want to see what kind of car you can afford to buy."
James didn't refuse, but he didn't acknowledge her either. He just drove Caroline toward the most luxurious car dealership in Silvermoon City.
Yasmin drove her own car, following behind them, her heart full of anticipation, looking forward to seeing James embarrass himself.
Soon, the three of them arrived at the dealership.
This dealership was the most luxurious in Silvermoon City, selling only luxury cars.
Yasmin often came here to service her car and was a VIP member, usually treated with respect here.
As soon as she walked into the dealership, she immediately put on a haughty attitude and shouted at the salespeople in the store,
"Come over here! Show Mr. Anderson your cheapest cars, those old beat-up ones, because with his means, he can't possibly afford any of the cars here."
Her voice was loud, and all the salespeople in the store looked over, their eyes falling on James, full of disdain.
A saleswoman in professional attire with refined makeup walked over, looked James up and down, her tone contemptuous.
"Mr. Anderson, our cheapest car here costs two million dollars. Are you sure you want to look?
I'd advise you not to waste our time. With the way you're dressed, you're probably not worth as much as a single screw on the car."
This saleswoman was named Zoe, an experienced salesperson in the store who was usually very snobbish.
When she saw customers dressed plainly, she looked down on them, and when she saw wealthy and powerful customers, she was all smiles and flattery.
She knew Yasmin and knew that Yasmin was a VIP member here from a wealthy and powerful family.
So she deliberately went along with Yasmin's words, wanting to please her.
Yasmin heard Zoe's words and laughed even more smugly.
She deliberately walked over to a BMW, patted the car body, and bragged,
"See this? Quinton gave this to me, it only cost a million dollars, nothing special. He wanted to give me an even more expensive one before, but I thought it was too showy, so I didn't accept it." As she spoke, she looked at James smugly, her eyes full of provocation.
