Chapter 42 You’re a Jinx
"Stop."
The burly men immediately stopped and let go of Daryl and Gilbert.
They collapsed on the ground, covered in injuries, their faces bruised and swollen, blood trickling from the corners of their mouths. They couldn't even stand up, their eyes filled with fear, all their previous arrogance completely gone.
Kevin squatted down and grabbed Daryl by the hair, forcing him to look up at him. His tone was ice-cold.
"Daryl, you created fake photos to spread rumors about Ms. Collins, and you even dared to scheme against her. Did you really think Mr. Anderson was a pushover? Did you really think Ms. Collins was easy to mess with?"
Daryl was in so much pain that tears were about to fall. He quickly shook his head.
"I was wrong. I shouldn't have spread rumors or schemed against Ms. Collins. Please spare me, I'll never dare do it again."
"Spare you?"
Kevin let out a cold laugh, released his hair, and stood up. He ordered his men,
"Strip them both completely naked and hang them at the entrance of the Collins Group. Let everyone see what happens when you scheme against Ms. Collins."
"What? No! Kevin, please don't."
Daryl and Gilbert immediately panicked, struggling desperately, their faces full of terror.
If they were stripped naked and hung at the entrance for everyone to see, they'd never be able to show their faces again. The Collins family's reputation would be completely ruined by them!
But they had no way to resist.
Kevin's men came forward and tore off their clothes and pants without mercy. Soon, both men were completely naked.
Daryl and Gilbert trembled all over, curled up on the ground, covering their private parts with their hands, their faces pale as paper, wishing they could just disappear from this place.
"Drag them out."
Kevin ordered coldly.
Two burly men came forward, grabbed the naked Daryl and Gilbert, and headed downstairs.
Along the way, company employees all poked their heads out to watch. Some secretly took photos, others whispered among themselves, with discussions rising and falling.
"Oh my god, isn't that Daryl and Gilbert? How did they end up completely naked?"
"They must have offended someone important, otherwise why would they be humiliated like this?"
Hearing the discussions around them, Daryl and Gilbert's faces looked terrible. Tears and snot mixed together as they looked utterly pathetic, but they didn't even have the strength to argue back.
Soon, the two were dragged to the entrance of the Collins Group.
Kevin's men found two ropes and tied them to the pillars on either side of the entrance, leaving them naked and exposed for everyone to see.
It was rush hour, and passersby who saw this scene all stopped to watch.
Many people took out their phones to take photos and videos. The discussions grew louder, and more and more people gathered around.
Daryl and Gilbert hung there, the wind blowing on their bodies, feeling cold and ashamed.
All they could hear were the discussions of passersby and the clicking sounds of camera shutters. They kept their eyes tightly shut, wishing they could just die right then and there.
Daryl's heart was filled with even more hatred. He hated James, hated Caroline, hated Kevin.
But right now he couldn't do anything except let others watch and mock him.
Meanwhile, Yasmin was getting her nails done at a nail salon when her phone suddenly rang. It was a call from one of Quinton's men.
She answered the phone impatiently, her tone lazy.
"What is it?"
On the other end, the subordinate's voice carried a hint of panic.
"Ms. Khan, something's wrong. Quinton's had an accident. He's been beaten and injured. He's at the hospital now. Please come quickly."
"What? Quinton's had an accident?"
Yasmin immediately sat up straight. The laziness on her face vanished without a trace, and her tone became urgent.
"What happened? Who beat him up? Is it serious?"
"It's hard to explain in a few words. He's being treated at the hospital right now. Please come quickly."
Yasmin hung up the phone. She couldn't be bothered with her nails anymore. She immediately got up, grabbed her bag, and ran out of the nail salon.
She was panicking inside, not because she was worried about Quinton's safety,
but because she was worried that if something happened to Quinton, the wealth within her grasp would be gone.
Quinton was the heir of the Reed family. His family was rich and powerful. He was usually very generous with her. Her designer bags, designer clothes, and cosmetics were all bought by Quinton.
If something happened to Quinton and no one was spending money on her anymore, how would she maintain this glamorous lifestyle?
Yasmin took a taxi and quickly arrived at the hospital, heading straight for Quinton's room.
Just as she reached the door, she was stopped by Marc.
Marc's face was dark, his eyes cold as he looked at Yasmin, his tone unfriendly.
"Don't go in."
Yasmin was stunned, then immediately put on a pitiful smile.
"Mr. Reed, what's wrong? I came to see Quinton. How is he? I'm very worried about him."
"Worried about him?"
Marc let out a cold laugh, his eyes full of disgust.
"My son got into this mess because of you! If it weren't for that so-called friend of yours, Caroline, why would he have provoked James? Why would he have been beaten like this? And you still dare to come see him?"
Yasmin felt uneasy. She hadn't expected that Quinton's accident was actually related to Caroline.
But she quickly recovered, putting on an even more pitiful expression, her eyes slightly reddening.
"Mr. Reed, you've misunderstood. I didn't know it would turn out like this either. I didn't want anything to happen to Quinton.
Caroline and I are good friends. I never thought she would get Quinton involved."
"Don't give me that act."
Marc cut her off, his tone ice-cold.
"I don't care what your relationship with Caroline is. Bottom line, you're not allowed near my son anymore, and you're definitely not allowed to let him get hurt because of you again! Leave now, or I'll call security."
Yasmin was angry inside, but she didn't dare show it. After all, Marc was Quinton's father. If she offended him, she could forget about getting any benefits from Quinton in the future.
She could only continue to act pitiful, tears about to fall from her eyes.
"Mr. Reed, please, let me go in and see Quinton. I'll just take one look, and then I'll leave right away, okay?"
Just then, Quinton's weak voice came from the hospital room.
"Dad, let her in."
Marc was stunned. He turned to look at the room, his tone confused.
"Quinton, have you lost your mind? She's bad luck. You got into this mess because of her, and you still want to let her in?"
"Dad, let her in. I need to talk to her."
Quinton's voice was still very weak, but his tone was firm.
Marc had no choice. He could only glare at Yasmin fiercely and step aside to let her in.
"I'm warning you, don't try anything funny. If you let my son suffer even a little bit more, I won't let you off."
Yasmin quickly nodded, a smile plastered on her face.
"Thank you, Mr. Reed. I understand. I'll take good care of Quinton and won't let him suffer."
With that, she quickly walked into the room and closed the door.
