Chapter 39: Nothing More Than the Weak Ones

Chapter 39: Nothing More Than the Weak Ones

James moved with agility, dodging attacks while striking back fast and hard. Every punch and kick went straight for vital points, with no wasted movements.

In just a few minutes, all the bodyguards were knocked to the ground, lying there moaning in pain, unable to get back up.

Quinton watched this scene, his face turning deathly pale, his whole body trembling.

His earlier arrogance vanished without a trace, replaced by deep fear.

He never imagined that James could fight like this - several professional bodyguards easily defeated by him?

This wasn't some worthless poor guy at all - this was clearly a dangerous person!

His legs went weak and he nearly collapsed to the ground. He quickly backed up several steps, his eyes full of panic, his voice shaking.

"James, don't come any closer! I'm telling you, if you dare touch me, my parents won't let you off! The Reed family has a lot of power in Silvermoon City. If you dare harm a hair on my head, the Reed family will make you pay."

James looked at his cowardly appearance and a mocking smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

"The Reed family? In my eyes, they're nothing but weaklings.

Your parents won't let me off? Perfect, I'd actually love to meet them and ask if the Reed family really has connections with Ironclad Weapons Corp."

With that, James stepped forward, grabbed Quinton by the collar, and lifted him up.

Quinton was scared out of his wits, struggling desperately, flailing his arms and legs, begging for mercy.

"I was wrong, I was wrong! Mr. Anderson, I shouldn't have messed with you. Please let me go, I won't dare do it again! My parents - I'll tell them not to give you any more trouble."

James's eyes were cold as he stared at him for a few seconds, calculating that he couldn't kill him now.

Quinton was the Reed family heir. Keeping him alive might help get more information about the Reed family's connection to Ironclad Weapons Corp.

If he killed him now, it would alert them too early and wouldn't be worth it.

With this thought, James released his grip and shoved Quinton away.

Quinton stumbled backward several steps, nearly falling. After steadying himself, he didn't dare stay any longer. While backing away, he made a threat:

"James, you just wait! I won't let this go. I will get my revenge."

With that, he ran out without looking back, not even caring about the bodyguards on the ground.

Yasmin watched Quinton run off, then looked at the moaning bodyguards on the ground.

Looking again at James with his powerful presence, she completely broke down and screamed at him:

"James, you bastard! Quinton is so good, and you dared to hit him! Do you know how powerful he is? He won't let you off, and the Reed family won't let you off either."

She cried while pointing at Caroline, her tone agitated:

"Caroline, wake up! Following this devil won't end well for you! Break up with him now, or not only will you suffer, but the entire Collins family will be dragged down by you! When that happens, even if you regret it, it'll be too late."

Caroline looked at the hysterical Yasmin, feeling sad inside, but also more determined in her decision.

She walked to James's side, tightly holding his hand, looking up at Yasmin with a firm tone:

"I won't break up with James. No matter what his status is, no matter what trouble we face, I'll always be with him."

"Also, Yasmin."

Caroline's tone turned cold.

"From now on, we're no longer friends. You've changed - you've become materialistic and mean. You're not the Yasmin I used to know anymore."

"This meal today will be the last time we eat together. From now on, we go our separate ways."

Yasmin froze, seeing Caroline's determined eyes and knowing she was serious.

She felt both angry and anxious, but didn't know what to say. She could only stand there, crying and cursing, looking quite pathetic.

James paid no more attention to Yasmin. He took Caroline's hand and walked out of the restaurant.

In the car, the cabin was quiet.

Caroline leaned back in her seat, her eyes somewhat downcast, without her usual smile, full of sadness inside.

She had always thought she and Yasmin were best friends.

No matter how long they were apart, their friendship would always remain strong.

But unexpectedly, when they met again, Yasmin had become like this - only caring about money and status, without even basic respect.

"James."

Caroline spoke softly, her voice slightly choked up.

"I never imagined Yasmin would become like this.

When we were kids, we went to and from school together. She helped me many times. Back then, she was so kind and innocent. How did she turn out like this?"

James saw how sad she was and felt heartbroken. He reached out and gently pulled her into his arms.

"Don't be sad. People change. Yasmin becoming like this was her own choice - it has nothing to do with you."

"But I still feel it's such a shame."

Caroline leaned against James, tears falling despite herself.

"We were friends for so many years, and now it's just over like this."

"It's okay."

James lowered his head and kissed her forehead gently.

"Losing a friend who isn't worth it isn't a loss. From now on, I'll be with you. I won't let you be wronged again, and I won't let you be sad anymore."

Caroline nodded, leaning against James, feeling his warmth and comfort. The sadness in her heart gradually faded a bit.

Meanwhile, Quinton ran home in a panic.

As soon as he entered, he saw his father Marc Reed and mother Lyanna Patel sitting in the living room, both looking displeased.

Marc was the head of the Reed family, usually having the final say at home with a powerful presence.

Seeing Quinton's panicked and disheveled appearance, he immediately frowned.

"What happened to you? Why are you so flustered? What's going on?"

As soon as Quinton saw Marc, all his grievances and fear burst out. He rushed to Marc, crying:

"Dad, someone bullied me! You have to get revenge for me."

Marc frowned, his tone stern:

"Calm down! Speak slowly. Who bullied you? Who dares to bully our Reed family in Silvermoon City?"

Quinton wiped his tears and told the story with exaggerations.

"Dad, it was that James! He not only mocked Yasmin and me, but also beat up my bodyguards and threatened me. He said the Reed family is garbage in his eyes, and said he wants to find you and Mom to investigate the Reed family."

"He also said he wants to destroy the Reed family and make us pay! Dad, you have to get revenge for me. Tear that James to pieces and let him know how powerful the Reed family is."
