Chapter 35 Sowing Discord
Caroline frowned and couldn't help but speak up.
"Mr. Reynolds, I have a question for you."
"Why do you insist on having me handle this partnership? I just joined the company and don't have much experience."
The smile on Isaac's face paused for a moment, then quickly returned to normal.
"Ms. Collins, you're too modest. I really recognize your abilities."
Caroline felt this response was quite perfunctory. She took a deep breath, picked up the contract, and looked through it carefully.
The contract terms were very reasonable, even favoring the Collins Group, with no traps whatsoever.
After reviewing it, she looked up and said,
"Mr. Reynolds, I have no issues with the contract."
Isaac was overjoyed and quickly said,
"That's great! Ms. Collins, when should we sign the contract?"
"You set the time, we can accommodate anytime."
Caroline thought for a moment and said,
"Let's do it tomorrow, tomorrow morning at ten, we'll sign at the Collins Group."
"Okay, no problem!"
Isaac immediately agreed.
After finishing the business discussion, Isaac insisted on treating Caroline to dinner, his attitude extremely enthusiastic.
Caroline wanted to refuse, but couldn't withstand Isaac's repeated invitations and had to agree.
The two walked out of the conference room and saw Daryl and Gilbert standing in the lobby, staring at them with sinister looks.
Caroline ignored them and walked straight out of the company with Isaac.
The car soon arrived at the restaurant, the most upscale restaurant in Silvermoon City.
Isaac personally got out and opened the car door for Caroline, his attitude ridiculously respectful.
"Ms. Collins, please."
Caroline felt a bit uncomfortable and quickly said,
"Mr. Reynolds, you don't need to be so polite."
"It's what I should do, what I should do."
Isaac said with a smile and led the way into the restaurant.
They found a window seat and sat down. A waiter handed them menus.
Isaac pushed the menu toward Caroline.
"Ms. Collins, order whatever you like, get anything you want."
"I'm paying today, don't be shy."
Caroline casually flipped through the menu. The prices were shockingly high, and she felt a bit hesitant.
She rarely came to places like this and didn't know what to order.
Isaac noticed her discomfort and said with a smile,
"Ms. Collins, if you're not sure what to order, shall I help?"
"These are all house specialties here, they taste really good."
Caroline nodded.
"Okay, then I'll trouble Mr. Reynolds."
Isaac skillfully ordered several dishes, all restaurant specialties with hefty price tags.
After ordering, Isaac poured Caroline a glass of water, his tone respectful.
"Ms. Collins, regarding our future cooperation, I hope you'll look after us."
"Rest assured, we'll fully cooperate with your work and definitely won't cause you any trouble."
Caroline smiled.
"You're too kind, Mr. Reynolds. Cooperation goes both ways, and we'll also do our best on our end."
The two chatted on and off, mostly about the cooperation.
Caroline could sense that Isaac had been very cautious the whole time, careful in everything he said and did.
The meal was quiet, with Isaac being attentive to Caroline throughout, not daring to show the slightest neglect.
Midway through, Caroline went to the restroom. Isaac's assistant couldn't hold back and asked directly,
"Mr. Reynolds, why are you being so polite to that Ms. Collins today?"
"She's just a deputy manager at the Collins Group, right? Is it worth you making this trip yourself and being so respectful to her?"
Isaac's face darkened. He glared at his assistant, his tone stern.
"What do you know!"
"Don't ask what you shouldn't ask, don't say what you shouldn't say, or you'll bring trouble on yourself!"
The assistant was startled and quickly lowered his head, not daring to speak again.
Isaac leaned back in his chair, feeling a wave of fear himself.
Last night, he suddenly received a phone call from someone at Specter Syndicate.
The caller directly identified themselves and said The Reaper had instructed him to proactively approach Caroline about cooperation.
They also said Caroline must personally handle it, and if he dared to play any tricks, Stellar Industries Group could forget about staying in Silvermoon City.
Who was The Reaper? A ruthless figure with an international reputation—how could he dare offend him?
That's why he was being so respectful, even having someone beat up Daryl, just to show his attitude.
He didn't want to ruin the entire Stellar Industries Group because of one Daryl.
"Remember, whenever you see Ms. Collins in the future, you must be respectful, not the slightest bit negligent."
Isaac instructed his assistant, his tone brooking no argument.
"If she has any requests, try to accommodate them. Even if they're unreasonable, agree first."
The assistant quickly nodded.
"Got it, Mr. Reynolds."
After dinner, Isaac insisted on taking Caroline back.
Caroline couldn't refuse and had to agree.
The two had just reached the restaurant entrance when a black SUV slowly drove over and stopped beside them.
The car door opened, and James stepped out, his figure tall and straight, his aura cold.
The moment Isaac saw James's face, his complexion turned deathly pale, and his legs began to tremble.
He quickly got out of the car and hurried over to James, bowing almost ninety degrees.
"Mr. Anderson, what brings you here?"
His voice was trembling, his face full of anxiety and fear.
He never expected to run into The Reaper here.
James glanced at him lightly, his expression calm, showing no emotion.
"I'm here to pick her up."
His voice wasn't loud, but it carried an intimidating pressure. Isaac didn't even dare to breathe heavily.
"Yes, yes, yes, I was just about to take her back."
Isaac quickly said, the flattery in his tone completely undisguised.
"No need, I'll handle it."
James finished speaking and turned to look at Caroline.
The coldness in his eyes instantly dissipated, leaving only tenderness as he reached out his hand to her.
Caroline quickly walked over, placed her hand in his palm, and smiled.
"James, what are you doing here?"
"Picking you up to go home."
James held her hand tightly, his tone gentle.
Isaac stood to the side, not daring to breathe, watching their interaction, becoming increasingly clear in his mind.
Caroline was indeed The Reaper's person—good thing he didn't dare neglect her today.
"Mr. Anderson, I'll take my leave then. Regarding the contract signing, I'll be there on time tomorrow."
Isaac said carefully, afraid of displeasing James.
James nodded slightly without speaking and led Caroline toward the car.
Isaac watched them get in the car, and only after the car drove away did he breathe a sigh of relief, his back already soaked with cold sweat.
In the car, Caroline leaned against James, her eyes filled with doubt.
"James, was the Stellar Industries Group cooperation arranged by you?"
She had hesitated for a long time but finally asked.
James looked down at her, ruffled her hair, and didn't deny it.
"I just don't want you to be wronged, don't want others to bully you."
Caroline's heart warmed, her eyes slightly reddening as she leaned into his embrace.
"Thank you, James."
"I wanted to rely on myself, didn't want to keep troubling you."
