Chapter 26 Don’t Dirty My Eyes
James looked at him coolly, saying nothing.
Billy thought he was scared and became even more arrogant.
"I suggest you get down on your knees and apologize right now, and leave that woman with you to sleep with me. Then we'll call it even. Otherwise, you'd better call an ambulance ahead of time."
Caroline was shaking with anger.
"You're disgusting!"
Billy grinned with a sleazy expression. He put his arm around Veronica and looked down at James.
"Do you know who I am? I'm from the West family! One of The Four Families in Pinecrest City!"
James finally made a move, slowly pulling out his phone.
Billy burst out laughing at the sight.
"What? Want to call someone? Go ahead! I'd like to see what losers you can get here!"
Veronica joined in the mockery.
"Yeah, don't call a bunch of beggars and homeless people. That would be hilarious."
James ignored them, dialed a number, and said calmly.
"It's James. Midnight Plaza, third floor. Come over."
Just one simple sentence, then he hung up.
Billy laughed even harder. "Nice act. I'll wait and see what big shot you can bring here."
The onlookers were also talking among themselves.
Most thought that judging by how James was dressed, he probably had no connections and was going to be embarrassed today.
The sales clerk looked especially gleeful, waiting to see James get what was coming to him.
Before long, hurried footsteps could be heard.
Kirk, the mall manager, came running over in a sharp suit, sweating profusely.
As soon as he entered, he shouted loudly, "Who is it? Who dares to cause trouble here?"
When Billy saw Kirk arrive, he immediately puffed out his chest.
"Kirk, it's me! Billy! These two are causing trouble on your turf and hit my girlfriend. You deal with it!"
He spoke in a familiar tone, as if he and Kirk were really close.
Kirk paused for a moment, his eyes moving past Billy to James standing to the side.
The next second, his expression changed drastically, and his legs went weak.
He completely ignored Billy and rushed over to James.
He bowed ninety degrees at the waist.
"Mr. Anderson! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I came too late! I've let you down!"
When he first got the call, he was pretty annoyed, thinking someone was pretending to be James.
After all, everyone down to the ground-level staff like them knew clearly what James had done in the Anderson family.
How could such a big shot suddenly show up at their mall?
Figuring they'd all seen photos of James anyway, he went to see who was so bold.
Now he was done for. Kirk was scared and quickly tried to please James.
The whole place instantly fell silent.
Everyone froze, including Billy and Veronica. The arrogance on Billy's face froze, looking completely shocked.
"Kirk? What are you doing? Why are you bowing to him? Did you get the wrong person? He's just a poor nobody!"
Kirk whipped around and glared fiercely at Billy, his eyes vicious.
"Shut up! If you want to die, don't drag me down with you!"
He turned back to James, his voice trembling.
"Mr. Anderson, this mall is an Anderson family property. You're the only owner here. I failed to manage properly and let these people offend you. I deserve to die!"
Mr. Anderson?
The Anderson family?
Billy was struck like lightning, frozen in place. This person in front of him was actually James?
James's gaze fell on Billy, his tone flat but with bone-chilling coldness.
"You just said the owner of this mall is your good friend?"
Billy's legs went weak and he almost collapsed on the spot.
"I, I..."
His tongue was tied, unable to get a word out.
"I don't remember having a friend like you."
James took a step forward, and the pressure instantly enveloped the entire scene.
Thinking about how the Harris family had been destroyed overnight, all thanks to the person before him.
Although the West family was one of The Four Families, he was just a minor branch member.
He had only been bragging, thinking that since James had just returned to Pinecrest City and few people knew him, he could claim James was his good friend.
He never expected to actually run into James himself.
Thinking of James's methods, his face turned pale, and he immediately fell to his knees, frantically begging for mercy.
"Mr. Anderson, I was wrong. I was blind. I was so stupid."
"I was joking with you. I don't know you at all. I was talking nonsense."
"It's all this bitch's fault. It was her, she offended you and your companion. It has nothing to do with me!"
Billy pointed at Veronica with trembling hands in panic.
Veronica's face also turned pale. She never expected that Billy, who called her baby all the time, would use her as a shield at the critical moment.
She was instantly so scared she couldn't stand and slumped down beside her, tears mixing with her ruined makeup all over her face.
"Mr. Anderson, it was this bastard talking nonsense and offending you. If you want to punish someone, punish him."
"I'm innocent."
When Billy heard this, his eyes turned vicious, and he slapped her across the face.
"Bitch, how dare you slander me! I'll kill you!"
"If it weren't for your Kelly family falling on hard times and sending you to seduce me to latch onto the West family, would I have offended Mr. Anderson?"
James was too lazy to watch this infighting and said coldly.
"The West family, very impressive?"
Billy was scared out of his wits and kept begging for mercy.
"Not impressive! Not impressive at all!"
"The West family is nothing! Nothing in front of you! Mr. Anderson, please spare me this once."
"You just said you'd make me prepare an ambulance ahead of time?"
James took a light step forward, the pressure making Billy unable to breathe.
Billy shook his head desperately, his voice changing.
"I didn't! I was talking nonsense!"
"And you wanted her to stay and sleep with you?"
As soon as these words came out, the coldness in James's eyes surged, and the temperature around them seemed to drop several degrees.
Billy was so scared he wet his pants. A foul smell spread, and people around backed away.
"I'm a bastard! I'm disgusting! I deserve to die!"
"Mr. Anderson, you're a generous person. Don't stoop to my level. I'll never dare again!"
Veronica didn't dare make a sound beside him, just kept crying, cursing Billy a thousand times in her heart.
Kirk quickly tried to ease the atmosphere, his voice trembling.
"Mr. Anderson, leave this to me. I guarantee I'll give you a satisfactory resolution."
"Billy maliciously provoked and harassed people. I'll have someone call the police right away and notify the West family."
When Billy heard they would notify his family, his face instantly lost all color.
He wasn't valued in the family to begin with. If the elders found out he'd offended James...
Without James lifting a finger, the West family would throw him out to take the blame.
"Don't notify my family. Mr. Anderson, I'll accept any punishment. You can punish me however you want."
James was too lazy to bother with such a small fry. He turned his head to look at Caroline.
Seeing her face was still a bit pale, he reached out and gently held her hand.
"Scared?"
Caroline shook her head. She was still a bit shaken inside, but his grip calmed her down a lot.
"No, I just think they went too far."
James acknowledged this and turned back to Kirk, speaking flatly.
"Clean up the mall. Get rid of the snobbish employees."
"As for these two, handle it by the rules. Don't dirty my eyes."
Kirk nodded repeatedly. "Understood! Mr. Anderson, don't worry!"
He immediately waved for people to come forward and drag up Billy and Veronica, who had collapsed into useless heaps.
The two wailed and begged for mercy all the way, but no one dared say a word for them.
The sales clerk was also taken away by security, crying as she walked, full of regret.
The onlookers watched with pounding hearts, no one daring to make a sound.
