Chapter 88 He thinks I'm dumb

After crying my eyes out,I cleaned myself very well and went back to join the rest and they were still chatting and teasing Ann about his striper while eating whatever they had brought in for us as dinner.
I joined them on the bed and they passed me my plate then I also started eating.
It was shredded chicken with fries and some had it with vegetable rice…I had a taste of it and it was really nice but according to the place where we were,it was obvious to have such a rich taste because the staff here mind about their guests since they pay a lot of money so they have to keep up with the standard.
We finished eating, then a photographer came in and started doing his thing while giving us different poses with the bride. After taking a number of pictures for the group,he instructed all of us to step aside so that he could have a moment with the main celebrant.
He was good with the poses and I really hoped that the pictures would also come out well because if they don't, that will be a total disappointment.
That session took us like half an hour and I had to be patient with that because I didn't want to show anyone, especially Ann, that I wasn't in the mood for anything which would end up ruining her big day and I wouldn't want that.
I kept it cool and once everyone was done with everything, we had to take our leave but Ann had to take a different car back home because we were going in different directions.
“Hey boss,I think I'm going to drive in my other sister's car,” Ann came over where I was standing near my car.
“Oh okay then,have a safe drive back home,” I wished her.
“Thank you so much and I'm grateful for your time ma'am,” she said with a warm smile and I pulled her into a hug.
“Come on! I had promised to be part of this day so this is me fulfilling my promise,”I replied.
“And for that I'm so grateful…I know you're fond of being in your own space but today I made you step out of your comfort zone and you did it without hesitation,” she held my hands.
“It's okay Ann,I take you to be my little sister I was unable to get from my mom haha…this was a special day for you and when you asked me to be part of it, I accepted without thinking about me because this day is about you and I have no right to complain about it since it was all in your favour,” I replied her.
“See how you're so sweet,I was blessed with the sweetest boss,” she hugged me one more time.
“Okay now leave,don't make your people wait for long and you need to sleep early because tomorrow you have work and I don't expect you to be late or something,” I teased her.
She ran off while laughing and went to meet her friends taking her back home.
I also sat in my car and set off,I drove straight back home and when I reached,I first checked on my girl whom I found snoring and I believed she played a lot during the day.
I went to the kitchen to get a glass of milk before heading to my bed when I met up with Alma also grabbing a glass of water.
“Oh ma'am,when did you come back?” She asked.
“Uhm,just a few minutes back…from checking on Halsey now I'm going to freshen up,” I replied.
“Oh okay then,well be back,” she said.
“Thanks dear,let me go and have some rest and you should also do the same young lady,” I pointed at her.
“Yes Ma'am,” she replied with a smile.
I turned to go then stopped and paused…”Uhm,is Herman back home yet?” I asked her
“Not yet Ma'am,” she replied.
“Okay then,have a good night dear,” I went straight to my room and switched on the light.
I placed my bag on the table,removed my clothes and dumped them in the laundry basket then I wrapped the towel around my naked body before stepping into the bathroom.
I got done with showering and when I came back in the room,I searched for my phone from the bag and Ann's message was on top of my notification that they had reached well and I also replied that I reached a long time ago and now I was heading to bed.
Afterwards,I dialed Herman's number but I didn't get an answer. Then I dialed it again but no answer…I tried it the third and last time but still no answer. Then I threw the phone on the bed.
The moment it landed on the bed,I heard a buzz and I quickly picked it up…it was a message from Herman which read,” Hey whatsApp,is everything okay at home?”
“Yes but where are you?” I sent him a reply.
“Out with some business associates that is why i couldn't pick up your calls but we are winding up now,”
I scoffed after reading his reply because I knew the kind of business associates he was talking about this time round.
“Okay then,I'm waiting for you,” I texted back.
I can't believe he is lying to me just like before and this time round I want to outsmart him so much to the extent that when I expose him,he won't have the guts to come running after me like before and that is why I haven't panicked about it.
I want to give myself time to know how he is playing his cards this time round so that I beat him at his game and it will leave his jaw dropped.
He thinks I'm dumb and that's how it's going to stay but later he will realise that I wasn't from the beginning.
I applied my oil on my body, then looked for my pajamas from the closet, then I sat on the bed and took my glass of milk while scrolling through my phone.
I got a call from mom and she was ranting about why we abandoned her without calling or paying her visit and how she misses her grandchild.
I assured her that I was going to bring her tomorrow after work so she calmed down.
Mom is so dramatic and after telling her that,she immediately hang up on me and she never apologises for her actions and I don't know if all mothers act like that or it's just my mom who was raised poorly haha.
