Let’s go make the perfect baby
Let’s go make the perfect baby
Catalina
Today was the day. I was marrying the man I loved. Jenna and I got ready together in her and Torque’s room. It was much bigger than ours, almost a small apartment, with a living space, a little kitchen, and two bedrooms. Since Torque was high up in the club and lived here full-time, he got the best space. Jenna mentioned he wanted to build them a house someday. The thought made me a little jealous, but maybe it was something I could bring up with Viper.
Jenna walked out in her black and white dress. I was waiting in my blush pink one.
“We look amazing,” she said, coming to stand beside me.
She’d put her hair up, with a pearl comb and a short veil tucked into the twist. I’d left half of mine down, big soft curls falling over my shoulders instead of my usual tight ones, with a tiara resting securely on top. We both kept our makeup light, just a little eyeliner, mascara, and tinted gloss. And instead of heels, we’d both chosen tall, knee-high boots. Mine were white, hers black. With our shorter dresses, the look was bold, and we felt powerful.
“Do you think the guys will like it?” I asked, a thread of nerves in my voice.
“They’re going to lose their minds,” she assured me. “Have you seen outside?”
“The bikes are lined up on the grass, making an aisle for us to walk down. The trees are wrapped in little lights. The arch the guys built is covered in sunflowers and white tulips. All the tables have white cloths, with jars of flowers and more lights. The food is out, and our cakes are waiting. They look incredible, by the way, Jenna. We’re ready.”
A knock came at the door, and our father walked in.
“My beautiful daughters,” he said in Italian.
“Papa!” we squealed, rushing into his arms. We all held each other tight for a long moment.
“I wish your mother was here to see this. But I know she is watching from heaven. You have made me so proud. I am happy with the men you have chosen. I do not worry about them hurting you, not just because they know what I would do, but because I see how they love you. I see the family you have around you now, people who would give their lives for you both. I can rest easy, knowing you are cared for.”
“Oh, Papa,” Jenna said, her eyes shining.
“It’s your turn now, Papa,” I told him. “You should find someone who makes you happy, too. Mama wouldn’t want you to be alone.”
“Your mother was the great love of my life. I don’t think I could love that way again.”
“It doesn’t have to be the same,” Jenna said softly. “Loving someone new doesn’t mean you loved Mama any less.”
“You’re right. Maybe this old heart can open again. I could use the company.”
“You could always prospect for the club,” I said with a smirk.
He laughed. “That would stop Butcher’s heart. No, I am not a man for another family’s rules. I will stay with the Underground. But I do have a request for you both.”
“What is it?” Jenna asked.
“Babies. I want grandchildren. Many, many of them. Little ones for me to spoil,” he said, completely serious.
“Good grief, Papa, we’re not even married yet!” I laughed. “I told Viper we could start trying soon. Happy?”
“Very.”
“Well, then you’re about to be overjoyed,” Jenna announced. “Because I’m already pregnant.”
“What?” I nearly shouted.
“Shh! No one knows. I haven’t even told Torque. I just found out this morning.”
“We’ve been together all day! Why didn’t you say something?”
“I was going to tell everyone tonight. They’ll notice I’m not drinking. I wanted to tell Torque first, but I couldn’t hold it in anymore.”
Our father’s face lit up. “My baby girl! This is wonderful!”
“How far along?” I asked, squeezing her hand.
“I’m not sure. I just realized I missed my last two cycles, so I took a test. The doctor at the hospital didn’t say anything, so it must have happened right around the time they proposed. I’ll figure it out soon.”
“This is the best news. When will you tell Torque?”
“I’ve got a plan. You’ll see.”
Our father looked at his watch. “It is time. Six o’clock. Let’s go get my girls married. Who is first?”
“Viper and I are, then Jenna and Torque. You’ll walk us both down together. Give me to Viper, then hand Jenna over to Torque. Butcher will do our ceremony, then move right to theirs.”
“Perfect.”
We walked out, arm-in-arm with our father between us, beaming with pride. Instead of normal wedding music, Rockstar was playing an acoustic guitar and singing. When we reached the front, Viper held out his hand. I placed mine in his. Torque did the same, and Jenna stepped to his side.
Butcher’s voice carried over the quiet crowd. “We’re here to celebrate the love between our brothers, Viper and Torque, and their women, Catalina and Jenna.” He spoke about commitment and forever, but my whole world was the man in front of me. I watched his eyes grow bright, and I smiled.
“Viper, your vows.”
“Catalina.” His voice was rough. “You look so fucking beautiful, it’s hard to breathe. You are the love of my life. I promise to always try to be the best man for you. I will be the shoulder you lean on. I’ll do everything I can to never give you a reason to cry, and if I ever mess up, I’ll lay myself down for your punishment.” A sexy, wicked gleam flashed in his eyes, and our friends laughed and cheered.
“Catalina, your vows.”
“Blaze,” I began. Viper made a low, pleased sound, desire sparking in his gaze. “I promise to be the woman you deserve. I’ll be strong for you. I’ll be the soft place you need to land. When you come home after a hard day, I’ll be there. I will stand with you, be faithful, be loyal. You will never have to doubt me. And lastly… I will be there for every single one of your fantasies, no matter how dark or deep.”
Whistles and shouts rose around us.
Butcher continued through the traditional words. My “I do” was clear and sure. When he turned to Viper, “And do you, Blaze,” Viper didn’t let him finish.
“I do.”
Everyone laughed as Butcher shook his head, then turned to the other couple.
Torque’s vows were straightforward and heartfelt. He told Jenna he never expected to find a woman who would take him as he was, and that she’d made him the happiest man alive. He promised to love her all his life.
“Jenna, your vows.”
“Torque,” she started, her voice warm. “I’ve loved you for so long. First from a distance, and then, thanks to one fateful night, and Beast..”
“You know it, baby!” Beast called out.
Torque glared, and Jenna laughed.
“Thanks to him, I got to love you from right here in your arms. You are my light. My savior. My protector, my handsome Viking. I love you with everything I am. And I hope you’re ready for our next big adventure… Daddy.” She finished by placing a hand gently on her stomach.
Torque’s expression shifted from deep emotion to total blank shock. He looked at her face, down at her stomach, and back up. She was laughing and nodding. A roar of pure joy tore from him, and he lifted her right off her feet, kissing her deeply as everyone erupted around us.
Butcher tried to get things back on track. “Okay, okay! Settle down! Jenna, do you.”
“We do!” Jenna and Torque said together, still wrapped up in each other.
Butcher threw his hands in the air and pronounced us all married.
Later, after our ride and the party back at the clubhouse, I looked around at my new family and at the man who was now my husband. My heart was so full it ached.
Viper held me close as we danced long into the night.
“When do we start our family?” he asked, his voice a low rumble near my ear as we moved together.
“We can start practicing right now. Whenever it happens, it happens,” I told him.
He grinned, a brilliant, possessive thing. Then he picked me up and carried me toward our room.
“Practice makes perfect,” he murmured into my hair. “Let’s go make the perfect baby.”
