Two days to say , yes
Wale's POV
"Do you mean Maya really did that in front of you?" Lucas asked. I didn’t reply. Repeating it to Lucas felt like reliving the moment, and the thought alone was unbearable.
"Don’t you think she did it just to upset you?" he added.
I couldn’t sit there any longer. I got up and walked out of the living room, then came back without doing anything. I had never felt so humiliated. Lucas’s words gave me something to think about, though, and I was finally able to speak.
"Maybe... maybe," I said, nodding. I needed to believe it wasn’t as bad as it seemed. The reality of what Maya had done was too painful to face. She had asked me to leave her house, and when I refused, she went over to Grayson and kissed him. My guard had looked like he wanted to react, but I stopped him.
"Let’s leave," I had said, hiding my anger.
It wasn’t just the kiss that hurt. Maya wouldn’t even read the message I had sent to the woman at the hotel, someone I thought about but ultimately pushed aside for her. Maya was the woman I loved, the one I was willing to do anything for. I had even bought Omega Corporation, paying more than I should, just to show her how much she meant to me. How unreplaceable she is to me.
Lucas had once suggested I keep both women in my life, saying it would cushion the blow if things didn’t work out with Maya. But now, the image of her kissing Grayson wouldn’t leave my mind. Had I treated her so badly that she felt the need to hurt me this way?
"Wale," Lucas called, tapping my back as I stood by the window, staring at the streets below. "That kiss wasn’t real. Trust me, they did it just to mess with you. Look at this footage from yesterday outside Omega Corporation, I mean B and A corporation."
"Footage? Is that necessary?" I asked, not turning to look at him.
"One of my men sent it to me," Lucas said. "It might clear things up."
Reluctantly, I turned. Lucas played the video on his phone. It showed Grayson almost kneeling in front of Maya, asking her to marry him. For a moment, I felt a small sense of relief, but it was quickly replaced by doubt.
"What if she said yes later?" I asked, my voice cracking.
"Lucas, I don’t know what to do," I admitted, turning back to the window. The streets seemed so far away, and I couldn’t focus on anything else.
"What can I do to help?" he asked.
There was only one thing that could help, I needed Maya. But it felt like I was losing her. She was already close to Grayson’s daughter, forming a bond I couldn’t break.
"If you had kept the other Maya, the woman at the hotel, she would’ve come tonight and helped ease the pain," Lucas said. "You even asked me to send her that message, didn’t you? A heart breaking message. As for me, it wasn't fair how you treated the lady."
"Lucas, I’d rather be alone," I said firmly. He seemed to realize how upset I was and didn’t say anything more. After waiting for some minutes,
"Should I bring you a glass of wine?" he asked after a pause.
I didn’t respond. The room fell silent again. I stayed at the window, staring out at the city below.
Nothing could fix this except Maya, but she was slipping further away. The thought of losing her to Grayson or anyone else was unbearable. And yet, here I was, powerless to stop it.

Maya's POV
Marrying Grayson or, I should say, renewing and changing the terms of our one-year contract marriage has become my ultimate revenge. The memory of Wale’s reaction still makes me smile. His eyes had almost popped out of his head, his face frozen in disbelief. He was completely blindsided, and for once, I felt like I had the upper hand. After everything I endured in his hands, seeing him in pain was strangely satisfying. If I had known marrying Grayson would hurt him this much, I would have done it long ago.
But then, I scolded myself, "Stop thinking about him, Maya." I was lying in bed early that morning, savoring the silence. Wale and Grayson were both absent, leaving me a rare moment to reflect. I had agreed to remarry Grayson after Wale left, but I couldn’t shake the questions nagging at me. Grayson wasn’t the man I dreamed of spending my life with, but the satisfaction of seeing Wale miserable made him feel like the perfect choice.
Grayson had asked for a three-year marriage contract this time. Should I agree? Or was I setting myself up for another mistake? He told me he had never been in love before, something I could relate to, as I hadn’t truly loved anyone until I met Wale. And yet, Wale had treated my love as if it were worthless, throwing it away no matter how hard I tried to make him happy. Three years seemed too long. A one-year arrangement felt safer. If Grayson could prove himself during that time, we could extend it.
Wale might be powerful and respected in the business world, but when it came to love, he was fragile, like a broken shard of glass. Just yesterday, he called me repeatedly, begging for my attention. But I refused to answer. Now he cares? Now he wanted me back, when my heart had long moved on?
With Grayson and his daughter, Alexandra, life felt like it was moving in a better direction. I wouldn’t let myself regret kissing Grayson for the first time. That kiss had been my declaration of being on my own, my way of saying goodbye to Wale forever. I couldn’t help but smile at the memory. Grayson had been stunned at first, but then he embraced me, as if he had been waiting for that moment his whole life.
The sound of the door slamming interrupted us. Wale had stormed out of the house, his rage was real. The moment was unforgettable.
"Let’s get this wedding done as soon as possible," Grayson had said before leaving last night. His words popped out in my mind, and I smiled again. He even joked by saying, "Why can’t I stay here tonight? You have already made me to ejaculate while pretending to be Hudson."
When I refused to let him stay, he suggested renewing our marriage this Saturday, just two days away. I had a bold idea, one that would deliver the final blow to Wale. I would send him a wedding invitation. If I couldn’t strip him of his CEO position, I could at least leave him haunted by the memory of me marrying someone else.
"The ex-wife of Mr. Wale finds true love." That would be the headline on my wedding invitation card. Perfect.
As I planned the wedding in my head, I remembered my hospital appointment. Saturday was approaching fast, and I had so much to prepare. I wanted this wedding to be a spectacle, something people would talk about for years.
After breakfast with Alexandra, I got dressed with her and we headed to the hospital. The doctor greeted me with a kind smile, asked a few routine questions, and then said, "We’ll need to run some tests."
I wasn’t worried. I felt fine. After a quick blood test, I was called back into the office.
"Congratulations!" the doctor said, his smile even wider this time.
I blinked, confused. Was he congratulating me on my health? Maybe I was perfectly fine and just needed more rest. Then he handed me the test results.
"You’re pregnant!"
The words hit me like a tidal wave. "Pregnant?" I gasped, the paper slipping from my hands and landing on the table.
For a moment, the world seemed to stop. Pregnant. The reality of the word sank in slowly. My mind raced with questions. How would this affect my plans? Grayson had been so eager to renew our marriage contract, what would he say? And Wale…
I shook my head, trying to steady my thoughts. This wasn’t just about revenge anymore. Who impregnated me? The only person I have slept with was the guy at the hotel and he had rejected me…
“Are you surprised? Is it not what you are looking for?”
I finally managed to say to the doctor, though my voice was shaky. Clutching the test results again. The wedding is still two days away, will everything change? Should I tell Grayson about this?
