I'm obsessed with him

Wale's pov

"Hi, my handsome. Words can't describe how I feel about you. It's stronger than the pull of two magnets with opposite poles. The moment you touched me, I lost control of my senses. It’s been so long since I felt this way, and feeling it with you on our first night means so much. Every moment with you is pure pleasure. I’m sorry I haven’t messaged you until now. Something came up, and I can’t explain it until we meet again. I never thought I could feel this way for another man, but this is different, and stronger. That one night has changed my life in so many ways. I want to see you again. Maybe I shouldn’t be saying this, but I can’t resist how I feel. When can we meet? I’ll be waiting… ready for you."

Lucy was still reading the message aloud when I interrupted. "I told you, Lucy. Next time, learn to believe me when I speak."

“What did you tell me?” he asked, glancing up from his phone, clearly confused.

“I told you that the second woman I met wasn’t the same as the first. But you dismissed me as if I didn’t know what I was saying.”

“Hold on,” Lucy protested. “I never said you were talking nonsense. I just thought you were making excuses to avoid seeing her again. But tell me, why would someone impersonate her?”

I shook my head, annoyed that he still didn’t get it. “The emotional connection wasn’t there with the second woman. I’m a sensitive person. I notice these things. There were so many differences, and my interest just disappeared. For one, the second woman had bigger boobs. My hands wouldn't lie to me. Just one feeling of it, I sensed the difference…”

“Wait, so you didn’t sleep with her?” Lucy interrupted.

“How many times do I have to tell you? I didn’t. The emotions left me as I started noticing the difference one after the other.”

Lucy sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Alright, I admit it. I thought the addition of that enhancer to the wine on your first visit caused everything. Now, what do we do?” He held up the phone screen as if the message itself was the problem.

“What do you mean?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Should I invite her over tonight?” Lucy asked. I stared at him for a moment, but I had already made my decision.

“This is a distraction, Lucy. Maya is the one I want.”

“Are you sure about that?” he asked, his expression full of doubt.

“Let me ask you a simple question,” I said, leaning forward. “Why are we at this hotel?”

“Because of Maya,” he replied reluctantly.

“And why have I been so restless?”

Lucy furrowed before saying. “You were the one who compared Maya to… Maya. It’s strange that they share the same name. But tell me, what makes you so sure your ex-wife will come back? She seems to be doing just fine without you.”

I smiled, ignoring his skepticism. “Maya will come back to me. I’m certain of it.”

Lucy shook his head, clearly unconvinced. “Why not keep this other woman around for now? If things don’t work out with your ex, at least you’ll have someone else. I’m not saying to stop chasing Maya, but just keep your options open.”

I raised my voice. “That would be cheating!”

“Cheating?” Lucy scoffed. “Do you think Maya would hesitate to move on with another man if she wanted to?”

His words struck a nerve. I stayed silent for a moment, reflecting on how much Maya had loved me in the past.

“Do you know how iron becomes steel?” I finally asked.

“Yes, but what does that have to do with anything?”

“This process, getting Maya back is like refining gold. Maybe I never appreciated her because I didn’t face challenges like this before. Now, I’m willing to go through the fire for her.”

Lucy sighed, leaning back in his chair. “I get it, but you always look miserable after visiting her. All I’m saying is, don’t put all your hopes in one place.”

I stood and placed a hand on his shoulder. “I appreciate you trying to look out for me…” I began, but Lucy’s phone rang and the sound cut me off.

He glanced at the screen. It was Maya, the woman from the hotel the other night.

“What should I tell her?” he asked, looking at me expectantly.

I waited for a moment, unsure how to respond. The Maya on the phone wasn’t the one I wanted, but ignoring her call felt wrong.

“Tell her…” I paused, choosing my words carefully. “Tell her I’m not available tonight.”

Lucy gave me a look, clearly frustrated. “You’re really going to throw this away?”

“Yes, Lucy. I’ve made my decision. I want my Maya back, and nothing will change that.”

Lucy sighed again, shaking his head as he answered the call. I could hear the disappointment in his voice as he spoke to her, but I didn’t care. My mind was made up.

“I will get back to you, but maybe not today,” he said coldly to the lady on the phone. After he ended the call, Lucy turned back to me, his expression serious. “You’re taking a big risk, you know that? What if she never comes back?”

“She will. Maya loved me once, and I know she still does. I just need to show her that I’ve changed.”

“And if you’re wrong?” Lucy pressed.

“I’m not. I’ve never been more certain of anything in my life.”

Lucy didn’t look convinced, but he didn’t argue further. Instead, he leaned back in his chair and sighed. “You’re stubborn, you know that?”

“I prefer to think of it as determined,” I said with a small smile.

Lucy chuckled, shaking his head. “Alright, Wale. I’ll support you, even if I think you’re making a mistake. Just don’t come crying to me if this all blows up in your face.”

“It won’t, Maya is worth the risk.”

Lucy didn’t respond, but the look on his face said everything. He thought I was being foolish, but I didn’t care. I knew what I wanted, and I wasn’t going to let anything or anyone stand in my way.

Maya’s POV

I feel like throwing up. It’s the next day, and I can’t stop checking my phone. I’ve been waiting for the guy from the hotel to reply to me. He said he would get back to me, but there has been nothing, not a single reply to my messages. Worse, he hasn’t picked up any of my calls since he picked the first one.

Why am I so obsessed with him? Why can’t I stop calling him? Did Hazel say something about me to him? Or worse, is he involved with her? It feels like betrayal, and I can’t shake it off. It’s better to have no friend than one who might sabotage your happiness.

Oh, Lucy! That’s his name. I felt a rush of excitement when I searched his number online and found out more about him.

“Lucy,” I whispered to myself. It sounds royal and loving, a name that carries strength and warmth. Every night, the thought of him consumes me. Just thinking about him fills me with a strange sense of satisfaction while my fingers do the rest, touching my clit and at the same time imagining our time in that hotel room.

Is this an obsession? Could I be falling in love with someone I barely know? These feelings seem to have taken over my body and mind. But why does love make me feel so sick? Nausea hits again, and I rush to the bathroom, hoping it’ll throw up.

I stand there, gripping the sink and waiting for the feeling to subside. After a moment, I realized I needed to visit the hospital after my meeting with the new board. This isn’t normal, and I can’t ignore it anymore.

When it’s nearly time for the meeting, I leave home with my precious baby, Alexandra. As I drive to Omega’s head office, my thoughts begin to spiral. My life has been changing so quickly, but now uncertainty is my next expectation. What will I do if I end up parting ways with Omega Corporation?

The entire trip is filled with endless questions, each one louder and complex than the last. Ten minutes before the meeting begins, I finally arrive at the building. Without wasting time, I head straight to my office. I don’t want to run into anyone, especially Hazel.

Hazel, my former best friend, has become someone I dread seeing. She has spread lies about me, claiming I slept with both a father and son to climb the corporate ladder. The thought of confronting her makes me physically sick. It’s been months since I stepped into this building, preferring to work remotely. Now, knowing she is here, I feel completely unsettled.

The meeting is for department heads only, as stated in the letter. When Mr. Grayson arrives late, I can’t help but think he is lost interest in keeping his position. Why would he even bother showing up on time?

As the meeting time approaches, I drop Alexandra off at the health department with a nurse. On my way back to the conference hall, I feel a growing sense of discomfort. Seeing Hazel again is inevitable, but I’m not ready. The pain of betrayal surges through me, making it hard to focus.

I deliberately waited in my office, trying to gather my strength. Three minutes later, a staff member and Mr. Grayson come to my office.

“Hello, Miss Maya,” Grayson said . “The meeting is about to start, but there is an order from an anonymous source that says you must be present before it begins.”

The word "anonymous" strikes my mind, ringing faintly but persistently. Where have I recently heard that name? My thoughts race as I stand up, trying to piece it together.

“Please, let's go. It means you are crucial and without you, the meeting wouldn't begin.”
