Chapter 27 Chapter 27

Chapter 27 Chapter 27
Lena wrapped up the last of her paperwork, stretching her arms as a tired sigh escaped her lips.
Finally, she could leave the office and go pick up Milo. It had been such a long and draining day, and the thought of seeing her son’s bright, happy face brought a soft feeling to her chest.

She grabbed her purse and car keys quickly, heading out in a bit of a rush.
Spending the evening with Milo was exactly what she needed, especially after the tense confrontation she had with Adrian earlier.

“Miss Lena, are you leaving already?” Nora asked the moment she saw her stepping out.

“Yes,” Lena replied, adjusting her bag slightly. “I want to spend some time with Milo today, so I’ll pick him up myself.”

“That’s a great idea, ma’am. See you tomorrow,” Nora said with a smile.

Lena nodded briefly without adding anything else and continued toward the elevator.

When she arrived at Milo’s school, she parked hurriedly and made her way toward the entrance. She gave the receptionist a polite smile.

“Good afternoon, I’m here to pick up Milo Rivers,” Lena said, pushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

The receptionist looked up at her and blinked slightly. “Oh… Miss Rivers, Milo has already been picked up.”

Lena’s smile immediately disappeared.
“What?”

The receptionist nodded. “Yes, his father came earlier and signed him out.”

Lena’s hands slowly clenched into fists at her sides, her heart beginning to pound heavily.

“His father?” she repeated, her voice dropping dangerously low.

The receptionist, sensing the sudden tension, nodded again. “Yes, Mr. Winters. He picked him up about thirty minutes ago.”

Lena didn’t say another word. She turned sharply and stormed out of the building, her heels striking hard against the ground with each angry step.

The moment she got into her car, she slammed the door shut and gripped the steering wheel tightly.

“Adrian…” she hissed through gritted teeth.

Without wasting another second, she pulled out her phone and dialed her lawyer’s number.
It rang twice before he picked up.

“Miss Lena, what’s the matter?” the deep voice asked.

“Adrian—my child’s father—took Milo,” she said sharply. “He picked him up from school without informing me!”

The lawyer sighed. “Did the school confirm it was him?”

“Of course they did!” Lena snapped.
“I swear, if he thinks he can just walk in and take my son without my permission—”

“Calm down,” the lawyer cut in. “Send me your location. I’ll come meet you, and we’ll go together.”

Lena shook her head impatiently. “No, send me your location instead. I’ll pick you up. I can’t wait.”

A moment later, her phone pinged with his address.
Without hesitation, she drove off, speeding through traffic like a woman on a mission.

Her grip on the wheel tightened so much that her knuckles turned pale.

When she arrived at his office, the lawyer—David—was already waiting outside. He stepped into the passenger seat and fastened his seatbelt.

“Alright, tell me everything,” David said as Lena pulled back onto the road.

Lena kept her eyes forward, her jaw tight as she spoke.

“Adrian only found out about Milo recently, and now he suddenly thinks he can take control. He’s been acting unpredictable, and I won’t let him get away with this.”

David nodded, typing notes into his phone. “Do you have full custody?”

“Of course I do—you know that,” Lena replied sharply.
“But I have a bad feeling about this. Adrian has money, power… he’ll try anything.”

David exhaled. “Let’s see how he reacts first. If he refuses to return Milo, we’ll take legal action immediately.”

When they finally arrived at Adrian’s mansion, Lena didn’t wait.
She got out of the car immediately and marched straight to the front door, pressing the doorbell repeatedly.

Bella opened the door, dressed in a silky robe, her lips curving into a smug smile the moment she saw Lena.

“Well, well, well,” Bella drawled, leaning against the doorframe.
“Look who decided to show up at my boyfriend’s house. Didn’t you say Adrian was just a fling?”

Lena’s gaze hardened.
“I’m not here for you, Bella. Move aside and bring me my son.”

Bella folded her arms, her smirk widening.

“Oh? So now you care about your son? Maybe if you weren’t too busy entertaining other men, you’d actually know where he is.”

Lena’s eyes burned with anger.

“Bella, not everyone is as cheap as you,” she shot back coldly.
“I don’t have time for your nonsense. Call Adrian and tell him to bring Milo out. Now.”

Bella let out a mocking laugh.

“Or what? You’ll stand here screaming like a crazy person? Honestly, Lena, you’re pathetic.”

Lena inhaled deeply, trying to keep her composure, but her patience was clearly wearing thin.

“Bella,” she said slowly, her voice firm. “I’m warning you. Get Adrian. Now.”

Bella rolled her eyes.

“Oh please, what are you going to do? Sue us?”
Her gaze shifted to David. “And who’s this? Your new man?”

Lena ignored her completely and stepped forward.

“Move aside, Bella. I won’t ask again.”

Bella’s smirk faltered slightly, but before she could respond, a voice interrupted.

“What’s going on here?”

Adrian appeared at the doorway, his brows furrowed as his gaze moved from Lena to David.
The moment his eyes locked on Lena, his expression darkened.

“You,” he muttered, his jaw tightening. “What are you doing here?”

Lena crossed her arms.

“I came to get my son. Where is Milo, Adrian?”

Adrian smirked faintly.

“And if I say no?”

David stepped forward calmly.

“Mr. Winters, you are not legally permitted to take the child without the mother’s consent—and you know that. I suggest you return him before this turns into a legal matter.”

Adrian’s eyes narrowed.

“Are you threatening me?”

Lena cut in immediately.

“No, Adrian. We’re reminding you of the law. Give me my son, and I’ll leave.”

Adrian crossed his arms, staring her down.

“And if I don’t?”

Lena’s hands clenched tightly at her sides, her heart pounding.

“Then you’ll regret it,” she said in a low, controlled voice, her eyes blazing with fury.

Behind him, Bella watched everything unfold with satisfaction, silently hoping Adrian wouldn’t back down easily.
