Chapter 91 Divorce? That’s a Good Thing!

Chapter 91 Divorce? That’s a Good Thing!

Max was his usual self, being pushed around. He lost his temper and headbutted Daisy.

"If you won't watch me, I'm telling my second uncle! I'll have him kick you out!"

Daisy hadn't heard this kind of talk in ages. Hearing it suddenly felt like old memories from a past life being dug up, and she froze for a moment.

Before she could say anything, Noah walked in from outside. He'd apparently heard what was just said, but didn't seem to care much. His eyes swept over Sienna, then settled back on Daisy's face.

"What's going on?"

Sienna glanced at Noah, her gaze moved from his face to the silver suitcase in his hand. The corners of her mouth slowly curved up into a meaningful smile.

"Ohhh" she drew out the sound, laughing in a mocking tone. "So that's why you won't help me with the kid. You've got plans with someone."

Daisy couldn't be bothered with her. She pulled out a room key from her pocket and handed it to Noah. "Your room key. Room's on the second floor, 208. The restaurant is through the lobby, turn right."

Noah took the card without saying anything and walked off with his suitcase.

Sienna laughed, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "He's pretty good-looking, but he seems pretty cold to you. Who knew you were so into chasing after guys?"

Daisy pulled the boy away from her. "He's my coworker. Company team building. I'm here to have fun, not to be your babysitter!"

Sienna actually laughed in anger as she crossed her arms with an arrogant air. "Daisy, what's your problem? I'm being nice to you, and you're giving me an attitude?"

Daisy didn't want her ruining her good mood, so she turned to leave. But Sienna wouldn't let it go, grabbing her arm. "Stop right there! What, rushing off to meet your lover? Why else would you be in such a hurry?"

Daisy yanked her arm free impatiently. "Sienna, are you done? Have I been too nice to you?!"

"Who do you think you are, expecting everyone to pamper you and put up with you? I'm warning you, if you keep pestering me and grabbing at me, I'll call the police and let them deal with you!"

"Fine, fine, fine, Daisy. Now your true colors are showing, huh? You used to be so meek and submissive, but now look at you acting all tough?"

As they were arguing, Noah came back out, one hand in his pocket, looking very impatient. "Mr. Reed is waiting for you. What's going on here?"

Daisy let out a heavy breath and turned to leave.

Sienna was fuming mad. Watching Daisy and Noah's retreating figures, she impulsively snapped a photo, then smugly put away her phone and left with the kid.

That evening when she got home, Sienna didn't waste a second. She quickly dug out the photo and sent it to Vincent.

That wimp Daisy used to not even dare breathe loudly around her, and now she dared to talk back? Who did she think she was? Without the Blacks, she was nothing!

The photo went unanswered for a long time. How could Sienna let that go? She called Vincent directly.

The phone rang a few times before he picked up.

"Vince, did you see that photo I sent you?"

"What photo? I haven't checked my phone yet. What's up?" Vincent's voice came through the phone, it carried a hint of fatigue.

"I ran into her at a hotel just now. She was with some guy, the two of them all touchy-feely, staying at the same hotel! I asked her to watch my kid for a bit and she refused, said she didn't have time. I bet she was just busy meeting up with that guy!"

Vincent was silent for a moment. "Maybe she's on a business trip with a colleague."

"Vince, you're really something. You think I can't tell the difference between a business trip and a date? You didn't see how she looked. She was all dressed up, wearing makeup, in a dress. Who dresses like that for a business trip?"

Sienna's voice got louder. "Look at the photo I sent you. You'll understand everything once you see it."

During the call, Luna happened to run over and climb onto Vincent's lap. She heard the words "mommy," "man," and "hotel," and her little face immediately tensed up.

Vincent didn't even notice Luna was listening. Hearing Sienna say this, he instinctively opened the unread message.

In the hotel, Daisy was indeed dressed beautifully, hands in her pockets walking inside, and there was indeed a man beside her...

Luna leaned over to look too, and her eyes went wide.

"Daddy, where is Mommy?"

Vincent casually brushed her off. "Mommy's on a business trip."

"Liar!" Luna said loudly. "I heard what Auntie said. She's clearly out playing with someone else! Look, it even says resort hotel here. Business trips don't stay at places like this."

"She didn't even take me! She used to take me everywhere..."

As she spoke, she bit her lip hard, looking like she was about to cry. Vincent sighed, but somehow suddenly remembered what Daisy had said.

"I don't want to put my whole life into family anymore. It hurts too much. I can't take it."

Lost in thought, he almost forgot he was still on the phone with Sienna.

"Vince, you see it now, right? What did I tell you? Even Luna can see it. If you ask me..."

"Daisy and I are already divorced." Vincent interrupted her, his voice calm. "So whatever she does outside, whoever she's with, it has nothing to do with me. You should stay out of it too."

"What? Divorced? When did this happen? Why didn't you tell me!"

"It's been a while."

"Well, that's great news!" Sienna's head, which had been steaming with anger at Daisy, immediately cooled down. She said cheerfully, "So now that you're divorced, does that mean you can marry Nessa?"

Vincent was silent for a moment, then said slowly, "The divorce paperwork is still being processed. Once it's done, I'll marry Nessa."

As he said this, Vincent realized he couldn't muster any enthusiasm. But it wasn't exactly resistance either. It was just a complete absence of that happy, excited feeling of being about to marry the person you love.

Maybe this was the source of Nessa's anxiety.

He thought to himself that he needed to stop thinking about Daisy. He had to be better to Vanessa, couldn't let her down.

...

In the hotel restaurant, dinner was over.

Ethan stood up and clapped his hands. "Everyone done eating? Come on, there's a bonfire party in the courtyard. Let's go have some fun."

The group cheered and headed outside.

Daisy stood up too and was pulled along by Amy.

The courtyard was large, with a bonfire burning in the center. The firelight made everyone's faces glow red. There were several long tables nearby with fruit and drinks, and someone was playing guitar, singing an unfamiliar song.

Daisy watched with some interest, thinking about grabbing the guitar to play and sing something herself. But then Ethan walked over to her, accompanied by two young men, both around thirty, casually dressed with good presence.

"Daisy, let me introduce you." Ethan pointed to the one on the left. "This is Felix Harper. He works in nanomaterials, spent a few years abroad and just came back. This is Maxwell Price, he does biochips—kind of in our field."

Daisy smiled and greeted them. "Hello."
