Chapter 56 Don’t Mess Around with Him Blindly

Chapter 56 Don’t Mess Around with Him Blindly

The next morning, Daisy stood at the entrance of the Blacks' estate.

This time, Vincent had brought her here.

Ironically, she had visited this estate—spanning dozens of acres—countless times, but never once with a relaxed mood.

Every time she stepped through these gates, she felt like a criminal awaiting judgment, never knowing what cold stares and mockery would be waiting for her that day.

It had gotten to the point that just standing at the entrance, she instinctively started taking deep breaths.

To her surprise, Vincent actually took her hand. Only when his dry palm gripped hers did she realize her own palm was already sweaty.

"Don't be afraid. I'm here."

This shocked Daisy even more.

Six years, and this was the first time she'd heard Vincent say something like this.

For a moment, Daisy felt a pang in her heart, and her eyes began to sting.

She couldn't understand why Vincent had ignored her for six years, and just when she'd finally made up her mind to leave, he started responding to her.

In the living room, the old man sat in the main seat, his expression not looking too good.

Sam stood dejectedly to the side, looking like a completely wilted eggplant.

Several aunts and cousins sat nearby, each wearing expressions that showed they were ready to enjoy the drama.

When Daisy entered, all those gazes swept over in unison.

"Oh, our big star has finally arrived," Sienna said, her voice sharp as she laughed. "What's this? Not singing at the bar tonight? What are you doing here? No performance today?"

Another cousin covered her mouth and laughed. "Sienna, she's an internet celebrity now. Her schedule is packed. The fact that she's here is doing us a favor."

Several people laughed.

Daisy didn't say anything, just stood there.

Vincent frowned. "Sienna, watch your words."

Sienna froze, not expecting Vincent to actually speak up for Daisy.

"Vince, what are you saying? I'm just..."

"You're just what?" Vincent looked at her. "Daisy is my wife. You keep saying internet celebrity this, bar that—are you saying my wife doesn't deserve to enter these doors?"

The living room suddenly went quiet.

Sienna's face turned ugly. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but couldn't get anything out.

The other women also looked at each other, not daring to speak anymore.

Daisy couldn't help but glance at Vincent.

He was really acting strange today.

The old man cleared his throat lightly, breaking the silence. "Alright, everyone sit down."

He looked at Daisy, his gaze complicated. "Daisy, come here."

Daisy walked over and stood before him.

The old man looked at her and sighed. "I saw that video. That girl singing—was that really you?"

"Yes." Daisy lowered her head slightly.

In front of the old man, she had always maintained a well-behaved and quiet image. That video had completely shattered the impression she'd given him.

"Why did you go to a bar?" the old man asked next.

Daisy was silent for a moment, then said, "I was in a bad mood that day, so... I just wanted to relax. I happened to run into Sam."

As soon as she finished speaking, she immediately felt the burning gazes from those around her. Daisy just pretended not to notice.

The old man also looked at her quietly. "That simple?"

"Yes."

The old man chuckled. "You sang pretty well."

Daisy froze. Not just her—even the aunts and cousins nearby froze.

The old man continued, "When I was young, I loved listening to this kind of music too. Later I got busy and didn't have time. Hearing you sing brought back a lot of old memories."

He paused and looked at Sam. "Alright, stop standing there like that. Sit down."

"I'll let it go this time, but if you post random stuff again, I'll break your legs!"

Sam felt like he'd been granted amnesty. He let out a long breath of relief and sat down on the sofa, looking toward Daisy and winking at her.

Daisy smiled. Just as she was about to speak, Sam jumped in. "Sister-in-law, you sang so well! All my friends were praising you, saying they want to invite you again next time..."

"Ahem." The old man cleared his throat lightly.

Sam immediately shut up.

The old man looked at him, somewhat displeased. "Sam, are you trying to steal from your own brother?"

Sam's face turned bright red, and he quickly explained, "Grandpa! I'm not! I just genuinely think sister-in-law sings well!"

"Even if she sings well, she can't be running to bars all the time!" The old man cut him off and looked at Daisy. "Daisy, you have your own things to do. Don't mess around with this kid."

Daisy nodded. "I know, Grandpa."

The old man nodded with satisfaction and reached back toward a servant, who quickly handed over two tickets. The old man took them and passed them to Vincent.

"This is a hot spring resort run by a friend of mine. Nice environment. You two have been tired lately—go relax a bit."

Vincent was taken aback. He took them and glanced at them. "Grandpa, this..."

"What? Think I'm being a meddling old man?" The old man glared at him. "Take Daisy and unwind. Don't just work all the time."

Vincent hesitated, then nodded. "Okay."

Leaving the old house, Vincent handed the two tickets to Daisy. "You keep these."

Daisy didn't take them, just said coldly, "I'm not going. Give them to someone else."

Vincent looked at her. "I know you don't want to go, but Grandpa gave them to us. We need to give him some kind of answer."

Daisy thought for a moment and said, "Then you go by yourself, or take someone else. I just started a new project. I can't leave."

This was true. The last patent she'd secured had been handed over to Vincent for nothing, causing gossip throughout the company.

Daisy still felt frustrated about it.

This time around, she was determined to win back the face she'd lost.

Vincent didn't say anything more and put the tickets away.

--

That evening, when Vincent returned to the villa, he'd barely walked in when he saw Vanessa sitting in the living room, playing with Luna.

"Daddy!" Luna ran over and hugged his leg. "Auntie Vanessa came to see me!"

Vincent patted her head and looked at Vanessa.

Vanessa stood up and walked over with a smile. "Vince, you're back. I brought panna cotta for Luna. It's in the kitchen. You should have some too."

Vincent nodded, took off his coat, and tossed it on the sofa. By chance, the two hot spring resort tickets fell out.

Vanessa's gaze was immediately drawn to them.

"Oh, what's this?"

Vincent glanced down and said, "Oh, tickets to a hot spring resort."

Vanessa's eyes lit up.

"Is it that new one in Everglade City? I heard that resort is really beautiful. I've been wanting to go!"

"Vince, are you taking me?"

Vincent, not knowing what he was thinking, took the tickets back from Vanessa's hand and put them in his pocket.

"These are for a client. If you want to go, I'll take you next time."
