Chapter 20 My Sister-in-Law Is Actually This Impressive!

Chapter 20 My Sister-in-Law Is Actually This Impressive!

Victor was caught off guard by the rebuke, and his face showed a hint of embarrassment.

He pushed up his glasses and said with displeasure, "Ms. Hart seems to be in a bad mood. I suppose there have been some issues with the marriage recently, which is understandable. However, I think..."

"I don't want to know what you think." Daisy interrupted him bluntly. "Goodbye."

With that, ignoring whatever expression was on Victor's face, she turned to Sam, who was standing nearby looking a bit dazed, and nodded slightly. "Sam, I'll take my leave now."

"Ah? Oh, sure, go ahead." Sam quickly responded.

He watched Daisy's retreating figure—her back straight, her steps composed, the evening gown fitting her form perfectly, each step graceful and elegant.

She really was quite different from before.

After she had gone some distance, Sam clicked his tongue and moved closer to Victor, muttering quietly, "Victor, what's gotten into Daisy? I remember she wasn't like this before."

Victor snorted coldly and said leisurely, "A woman who's about to be kicked out of a wealthy family will naturally turn bitter. What's so strange about that?"

Sam opened his mouth but no sound came out.

No way? Was his cousin really going through with the divorce?

By the time the concert ended, it was getting late. The audience gradually dispersed, and Daisy slowly made her way out with the crowd. At the entrance of the concert hall, she ran into Sam again.

He was surrounded by several young people dressed just as fashionably, probably his friends.

"Sister-in-law! Over here." Sam spotted her with his sharp eyes and waved across the crowd.

Daisy hesitated for a moment but still walked over.

"Sister-in-law, let me introduce you. These are all friends I met abroad—designers, musicians." Sam introduced enthusiastically. "This is my sister-in-law, Daisy."

The young people politely greeted Daisy, all very friendly.

One of Sam's friends, a man with a small ponytail, smiled at Daisy and said, "Sam says you know a lot about music. Did you catch anything interesting about that piece in the second half?"

He winked at her, clearly testing whether she really understood.

His tone didn't sound malicious, though—more like a friendly joke .

Daisy smiled slightly. "You mean the fourth movement of the Nocturne?"

The friend's eyebrows shot up, and his face lit up with delight.

He had deliberately not specified which part. If she were an amateur, she might have given some generic comments about the second half overall, but Daisy immediately identified the fourth movement, showing she clearly knew more than just the basics.

"Yes! Tell us what you think."

"Usually, this movement is performed with a deliberately slower tempo, but today the conductor clearly sped up the pace a bit. While this seemed to weaken that sense of quiet solitude, the next movement was deliberately slowed down."

"This way, the strong contrast between the two movements creates the feeling of a sudden light rain on a quiet night. I have to say, it's quite a novel approach."

She spoke eloquently, showing great sensitivity to music and unique artistic insight. Not only did the ponytailed man nod repeatedly, but even the others who had been listening out of politeness showed appreciation.

Sam's eyes were shining. "Daisy, you really do know your stuff. That was amazing. We were just discussing the fourth movement. I said the conductor was second-rate, and these friends of mine insisted he wasn't. I was arguing with them."

"Hearing you explain it like that, I can really feel it. You're absolutely right."

He gave her a thumbs up. "You're incredible. I really should have grabbed Victor and made him listen to this too."

Daisy gave a dry laugh. She thought to herself that if Victor had been here just now, she would have turned and left immediately. She had no interest in saying all this in front of him.

She also modestly added, "I was interested in it when I was in school and figured some things out on my own, but I haven't paid attention to it in a long time. I might be wrong."

"Wrong? You're absolutely right!" Sam said excitedly. "Daisy, I had no idea you were such a treasure."

"Oh, there's a small classical music salon in a couple of days that my friend is organizing. It's really interesting—all people who truly understand and love music. Do you want to come? I guarantee it'll be more interesting than tonight's commercial performance."

Daisy felt a slight stir in her heart.

Not because she was interested in the salon, but because it had been a long time since she'd received an invitation based purely on shared interests.

But she still shook her head. "Thank you for the invitation, but I'm really busy with a lab project right now. I'm afraid I won't have time. Maybe next time."

"Lab? What lab?" Sam was puzzled. "Daisy, aren't you a professional musician?"

"I'm in biomedical science."

Sam gasped.

Good grief, he thought his sister-in-law was an arts student, but her main field was actually medicine.

He'd just been schooled by someone from a completely different field. The last person to school him across disciplines was Vanessa.

His eyes sparkled. "Daisy, are you hungry? Want to grab something to eat with us? There's this restaurant with amazing food."

"No thanks, I have some things to take care of. I need to get back." Daisy politely declined. "Next time."

"Alright then." Sam sighed.

Daisy nodded and was about to leave when she saw Vanessa in the distance, surrounded by a group of people, emerging from the special backstage passage. Luna was holding her hand, her little face flushed with excitement.

Sam saw them too and immediately went over with a smile.

"Wow, my goddess, your performance tonight was absolutely amazing! You completely captured my heart." Sam approached and naturally gave Vanessa a hug, then bent down to ruffle Luna's hair. "Little Luna, you did so well today, like a real little lady."

Luna proudly puffed out her little chest and said crisply, "Thank you, Uncle."

Sam added, "Hey, by the way, why didn't you come with my sister-in-law? We let her leave by herself."

At his words, the smile on Vanessa's face froze slightly.

Luna was stunned, her little face showing obvious surprise and confusion. "Mommy? Mommy was here too? Where is she?"

At the same time, she couldn't help feeling a bit guilty.

What should she do? If Mommy saw her with Auntie Vanessa again, wouldn't she be angry again?

No, she would definitely be angry. She must have come here to catch her!

Thinking this, Luna quickly hid behind Vanessa and looked around, but where was Daisy?

Sam was confused too.

So... Daisy came, but Luna didn't know?

He suddenly felt like he'd just said something he shouldn't have.

Daisy hadn't gone far. Sam's words faintly reached her ears.

She didn't turn back, and her steps didn't pause for a moment. Only her fingers gripping the strap of her bag tightened slightly.
